Job 5
1 “Llama si quieres, pero ¿quién te va a responder? ¿A qué ángel te vas a dirigir?
“Pray, call, is there any to answer you? And to which of the holy ones do you turn?
2 Ciertamente la ira mata al necio y la envidia al simple.
For provocation slays the perverse, And envy puts to death the simple,
3 He visto a un necio hacerse fuerte, pero enseguida maldije su casa.
I have seen the perverse taking root, And I mark his habitation straight away,
4 Sus hijos nunca están a salvo; son aplastados en el tribunal sin nadie que los defienda.
His sons are far from safety, And they are bruised in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
5 El hambriento se come todo lo que cosecha, tomando incluso lo que está protegido por un seto de espinas, mientras otros procuran robar su riqueza.
Whose harvest the hungry eat, And even take it from the thorns, And the designing swallowed their wealth.
6 Porque el mal no nace del polvo, ni los problemas crecen de la tierra.
For sorrow does not come forth from the dust, Nor does misery spring up from the ground.
7 Pero los seres humanos nacen para los problemas con la misma certeza que las chispas de un fuego vuelan hacia arriba.
For man is born to misery, And the sparks go high to fly.
8 “Si fuera yo, iría donde Dios y expondría mi caso ante él.
Yet I inquire for God, And for God I give my word,
9 Él es quien hace cosas asombrosas, increíbles; ¡milagros que no se pueden contar!
Doing great things, and there is no searching. Wonderful, until there is no numbering.
10 Él hace llover sobre la tierra y envía agua a los campos.
Who is giving rain on the face of the land, And is sending waters on the out-places.
11 Exalta a los humildes y rescata a los que lloran.
To set the low on a high place, And the mourners have been high [in] safety.
12 Frustra los planes de los astutos para que no tengan éxito.
Making void thoughts of the cunning, And their hands do not execute wisdom.
13 Él atrapa a los sabios en sus propios pensamientos astutos, y los planes de la gente retorcida se ven truncados.
Capturing the wise in their subtlety, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hurried,
14 De día están a oscuras, y a mediodía tropiezan como si fuera de noche.
By day they meet darkness, And as night—they grope at noon.
15 Pero Dios es el que salva de sus comentarios cortantes, así como salva a los pobres de las acciones de los poderosos.
He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth, And from a strong hand,
16 Así los desvalidos tienen esperanza, y los malvados tienen que cerrar la boca.
And there is hope for the poor, And perverseness has shut her mouth.
17 Mira qué feliz es la persona a la que Dios corrige, así que no desprecies la disciplina del Todopoderoso.
Behold, the blessedness of mortal man, God reproves him: And do not despise the discipline of the Mighty,
18 Porque él causa dolor, pero proporciona alivio; él hiere, pero sus manos curan.
For He pains, and He binds up, He strikes, and His hands heal.
19 Él te salvará de muchos desastres; una multitud de males no te afectará.
In six distresses He delivers you, And in seven evil does not strike on you.
20 En tiempos de hambre te librará de la muerte, y en tiempos de guerra te salvará del poder de la espada.
In famine He has redeemed you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword.
21 Estarás protegido de la calumnia de lengua afilada; y cuando llegue la violencia no tendrás miedo.
When the tongue scourges you are hid, And you are not afraid of destruction, When it comes.
22 Te reirás de la violencia y del hambre; no tendrás miedo de los animales salvajes,
At destruction and at hunger you mock, And of the beast of the earth, You are not afraid.
23 porque estarás en paz con las piedras del campo y los animales salvajes estarán en paz contigo.
(For with sons of the field [is] your covenant, And the beast of the field Has been at peace with you.)
24 Estarás seguro de que tu casa está a salvo, porque irás a donde vives y no habrá cosa alguna que te falte.
And you have known that your tent [is] peace, And inspected your habitation, and do not err,
25 También estarás seguro de que tendrás muchos hijos; tu descendencia será como la hierba de la tierra.
And have known that your seed [is] numerous, And your offspring as the herb of the earth;
26 Vivirás hasta una edad madura como una gavilla de grano cuando se cosecha.
You come in full age to the grave, As the going up of a stalk in its season.
27 Mira, lo hemos examinado y es verdad. Escucha lo que te digo y aplícalo a ti mismo”.
Behold, this—we searched it out—it [is] right, listen; And you, know for yourself!”
