Job 40
1 Dios siguió hablando a Job.
And Jehovah doth answer Job, and saith: —
2 “¿Todavía vas a pelear con el Todopoderoso y tratar de enderezarlo? Quien discute con Dios debe dar alguna respuesta”.
Is the striver with the Mighty instructed? The reprover of God, let him answer it.
3 Job respondió al Señor:
And Job answereth Jehovah, and saith: —
4 “Yo no soy nada. No tengo respuestas. Pongo mi mano delante de mi boca.
Lo, I have been vile, What do I return to Thee? My hand I have placed on my mouth.
5 Ya he dicho demasiado y no diré nada más”.
Once I have spoken, and I answer not, And twice, and I add not.
6 Entonces el Señor respondió a Job desde el torbellino:
And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: —
7 “Prepárate, sé fuerte, porque voy a interrogarte y debes responderme.
Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.
8 “¿De verdad vas a decir que mis decisiones están equivocadas? ¿Vas a condenarme para tener razón?
Dost thou also make void My judgment? Dost thou condemn Me, That thou mayest be righteous?
9 ¿Eres tan poderoso como yo? ¿Truena tu voz como la mía?
And an arm like God hast thou? And with a voice like Him dost thou thunder?
10 ¿Por qué no te vistes de majestad y dignidad, y te revistes de gloria y esplendor?
Put on, I pray thee, excellency and loftiness, Yea, honour and beauty put on.
11 Da rienda suelta a tu feroz ira. Humilla a los soberbios con una mirada.
Scatter abroad the wrath of thine anger, And see every proud one, and make him low.
12 Derriba a los soberbios con tu mirada; pisotea a los malvados allí donde están.
See every proud one — humble him, And tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Entiérralos en el polvo; enciérralos en la tumba.
Hide them in the dust together, Their faces bind in secret.
14 Entonces también estaré de acuerdo en que tu propia fuerza puede salvarte.
And even I — I do praise thee, For thy right hand giveth salvation to thee.
15 “Considera a Behemot, una criatura que hice igual que a ti. Come hierba como el ganado.
Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.
16 Mira sus poderosos lomos, los músculos de su vientre.
Lo, I pray thee, his power [is] in his loins, And his strength in the muscles of his belly.
17 Dobla su cola como un cedro; los tendones de sus muslos son fuertes.
He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,
18 Sus huesos son como tubos de bronce, sus miembros como barras de hierro.
His bones [are] tubes of brass, His bones [are] as a bar of iron.
19 Es el ejemplo más importante de lo que Dios puede hacer; sólo el que lo hizo puede acercarse a él con una espada.
He [is] a beginning of the ways of God, His Maker bringeth nigh his sword;
20 Las colinas producen alimento para él, y todos los animales salvajes juegan allí.
For food do mountains bear for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.
21 Se encuentra bajo el loto; se esconde en los juncos del pantano.
Under shades he lieth down, In a secret place of reed and mire.
22 El loto la cubre de sombra; los sauces del valle la rodean.
Cover him do shades, [with] their shadow, Cover him do willows of the brook.
23 Aunque el río se desborde, no se preocupa; permanece en calma cuando el río Jordán se agita contra él.
Lo, a flood oppresseth — he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.
24 Nadie puede atraparlo mientras mira, ni perforar su nariz con un lazo”.
Before his eyes doth [one] take him, With snares doth [one] pierce the nose?
