Jeremías 50
1 Este es el mensaje del Señor que le dijo al profeta Jeremías que diera sobre Babilonia y la nación de Babilonia.
The word which Yahweh spake Against Babylon Against the land of the Chaldeans, through Jeremiah the prophet:
2 ¡Cuéntale a todo el mundo la noticia! ¡Levanten un cartel y grítenlo, no se contengan! ¡Díganles que Babilonia ha caído! Su dios Bel será humillado; el poder de su dios Marduc será quebrantado; todos los ídolos de Babilonia serán humillados y su poder será quebrantado.
Tell ye among the nations And let it be heard And lift ye up a standard, Let it be heard do not conceal: Say ye—Captured is Babylon, Confounded is Bel, Broken in pieces is Merodach, Confounded are her images, Broken down her manufactured gods;
3 Una nación del norte vendrá a atacarla y convertirá el país en un páramo. Nadie vivirá allí; tanto las personas como los animales la abandonarán.
For there hath come up against her—a nation out of the North The same, shall make her land an astonishment, And there shall be none to dwell therein, —Both man and beast, have removed—have gone.
4 Ese es el momento en que los pueblos de Israel y de Judá se unirán, llorando al ir a adorar al Señor, su Dios, declara el Señor.
In those days, and at that time, Declareth Yahweh, Shall the sons of Israel come in, They and the sons of Judah together: Weeping as they travel, so shall they journey on, And Yahweh their God, shall they seek;
5 Preguntarán por el camino de Sión y se pondrán en marcha en esa dirección. Llegarán y se comprometerán con el Señor en un acuerdo eterno que no se olvidará jamás.
To Zion, shall they ask the way, Hitherward, their faces, Come and let us join ourselves unto Yahweh, In a covenant age-abiding, which shall not be forgotten.
6 Mi pueblo es una oveja perdida, extraviada por sus pastores, que la hacen vagar sin rumbo por los montes. Van de un lugar a otro en los montes y colinas, olvidando dónde solían descansar.
Wandering sheep, have my people, been, Their own shepherds led them astray, On the mountains, they seduced them, From mountain to hill, have they gone, They have forgotten their couching-place.
7 Todos los que se cruzan con ellos los atacan. Sus enemigos declararon: “¡Nosotros no tenemos la culpa! Ellos son los que pecaron contra el Señor, su verdadero lugar de descanso; el Señor que fue la esperanza de sus antepasados”.
All who found them, devoured them, And, their adversaries, said—We shall not be, guilty, —Because they have sinned, Against, Yahweh the pasturage of righteousness, Yea the hope of their fathers—Yahweh.
8 ¡Huye de la ciudad de Babilonia; aléjate del país de Babilonia! Dirige el camino como los machos cabríos que guían el rebaño.
Remove ye out of the midst of Babylon, And out of the land of the Chaldeans, come ye forth, —And become ye like he-goats before the flock;
9 ¡Mira! Estoy reuniendo una coalición de fuertes naciones del norte que vendrán a atacar a Babilonia. Se alinearán en la batalla contra ella; será conquistada desde el norte. Sus flechas serán como las de los mejores guerreros: ¡no fallan!
For lo! I am rousing and bringing up against Babylon a gathered host of great nations, out of the land of the North, And they shall array themselves against her, From thence, shall she be captured, —His arrows, are as of a hero making childless, None shall return empty.
10 Babilonia será saqueada; todo el que la saquee tendrá mucho botín, declara el Señor.
So shall the Chaldeans become a spoil, —All her spoilers, shall be satisfied, Declareth Yahweh;
11 Aunque por ahora ustedes los babilonios celebran y cantan triunfalmente mientras saquean a mi pueblo especial, aunque por ahora saltan como una vaca joven y juguetona que pisa el grano, y relinchan como sementales,
Because they used to be glad Because they used to be uproarious When plundering mine inheritance, —Because they used to caper about as a heifer at grass, And bellow like bulls.
12 van a traer vergüenza a su madre, van a deshonrar a la que los dio a luz. Mirad cómo se convierte en la menos importante de todas las naciones, en un desierto, en una tierra desértica y seca.
Your mother, hath turned very pale, She that bare you, hath turned red, —Lo! the last of nations, is—A desert, A parched land, and A waste plain,
13 A causa del castigo airado del Señor, quedará desierta, completamente desolada. Todos los que pasen por allí se horrorizarán de lo que le ha sucedido a Babilonia, y se burlarán de todas sus heridas.
Because of the vexation of Yahweh, she shall not be inhabited, But Shall become a complete desolation, —Every one passing by Babylon, shall be astonished and hiss, over all her plagues.
14 Todos ustedes, arqueros, alinéense para la batalla alrededor de Babilonia. Disparen contra ella. No ahorren sus flechas, porque ella ha pecado contra el Señor.
Set yourselves in array against Babylon round about All ye who tread the bow, Shoot at her, do not spare so much as an arrow, —For against Yahweh, hath she sinned.
15 ¡Griten gritos de guerra contra ella desde todos los lados! Ella levanta las manos en señal de rendición. Sus torres se han derrumbado; sus muros han sido demolidos. El Señor le está devolviendo el favor, así que tú también puedes devolvérselo: hazle lo mismo que a los demás.
Raise a shout against her round about She hath stretched forth her hand, Fallen are her buttresses, Torn down are her walls, —Because, the avenging of Yahweh it is, Take ye vengeance upon her, As she hath done, do ye, unto her.
16 Detengan al sembrador de sembrar en el país de Babilonia, y detengan al cosechador de mover la hoz para cosechar el grano. Bajo la amenaza de las espadas de los enemigos, todos huyen a su pueblo, vuelven al lugar de donde vinieron.
Cut ye off the sower from Babylon, And him that graspeth the sickle in the time of harvest, From the face of the sword of the oppressor, Each, to his own people will they turn, and Each, to his own land will they flee.
17 Los israelitas son un rebaño perseguido y dispersado por los leones. El primero en atacar fue el rey de Asiria; después, Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, les aplastó los huesos.
A sheep all alone, is Israel Lions, have driven him away, —At the first, the king of Assyria devoured him, And here, at the last, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones!
18 Así que esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel: Voy a castigar al rey de Babilonia y a su país como castigué al rey de Asiria.
Therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, Behold me! bringing punishment against the king of Babylon, and against his land, —Just as I brought punishment against the king of Assyria.
19 Llevaré a los israelitas de vuelta a sus tierras de pastoreo, para que se alimenten en el Carmelo y en Basán, para que satisfagan sus apetitos en las colinas de Efraín y Galaad.
So will I bring back Israel unto his own pasture, And he shall feed upon Carmel and Bashan; And in the hill country of Ephraim and Gilead, shall, his soul, be satisfied.
20 Será entonces cuando se busquen las culpas y los pecados de Israel y de Judá, pero no se encontrará ninguno, porque perdonaré a los que queden que yo cuide, declara el Señor.
In those days and in that time, Declareth Yahweh, The iniquity of Israel, shall be sought, and there shall be none, And the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found; For I will grant pardon to them whom I suffer to remain.
21 Vayan y ataquen la tierra de Merataim y a la gente que vive en Pecod. Mátenlos con espadas, apártenlos para la destrucción, junto con todo lo que dejan atrás. Asegúrense de hacer todo lo que les he ordenado, declara el Señor.
Against the land of Merathaim, go thou up against her, And against the inhabitants of Pekod, —Lay waste and devote to destruction after them Declareth Yahweh, And do according to all which I have commanded thee.
22 El ruido de la batalla se oye en el país, el ruido de la terrible destrucción.
The sound of battle is in the earth, —And a great destruction.
23 ¡Mira cómo el martillo de toda la tierra yace hecho pedazos en el suelo! Las naciones miran con horror en qué se ha convertido Babilonia.
How is cut and broken the hammer of all the earth! How hath Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
24 Babilonia, te tendí una trampa, y fuiste atrapada antes de que te dieras cuenta. Fuiste perseguida y capturada porque luchaste contra el Señor.
I laid a snare for thee yea and thou wast captured O Babylon, when, thou wast not aware, —Thou wast found out yea and taken, For with Yahweh, hadst thou contended.
25 En su ira, el Señor abrió su arsenal para sacar sus armas, porque esto es lo que el Señor Dios Todopoderoso está haciendo en el país de Babilonia.
Yahweh opened his armoury, and brought out his weapons of indignation, —For, a work, it is pertaining to My Lord, Yahweh of hosts, in the land of the Chaldeans,
26 ¡Vengan a atacarla por todos lados! Abre sus graneros; recoge el botín que tomes de ella como montones de grano. Apártenla para destruirla; no dejen ningún sobreviviente.
Come ye against her from farthest parts, Throw open her granaries, Cast her up as heaps, and devote her to destruction, —Do not let her have a remnant.
27 Maten a todos sus novillos con la espada; que sean masacrados. Qué desastre para ellos, porque ha llegado su hora de ser castigados.
Cut up all her bullocks, Let them go down to the slaughter, —Alas for them! For their day, hath come, Their time for punishment.
28 (Escuchen a los refugiados y a los sobrevivientes que han regresado de Babilonia, anunciando en Sión: “El Señor, nuestro Dios, les está pagando por lo que le pasó a su Templo”).
The voice Of them who are in flight and Of such as are escaping, out of the land of Babylon, —To tell in Zion The avenging of Yahweh our God, The avenging of his temple.
29 ¡Llama a los arqueros para que ataquen a Babilonia, sí, a todos! Rodéenla por completo; no dejen que nadie escape. Págale por lo que ha hecho, porque en su orgullo desafió al Señor, el Santo de Israel.
Publish against Babylon ye chiefs of all who tread the bow—Encamp against her round about Let there be none to escape, Recompense to her according to her work, According to all which she did, do ye to her, —For Against Yahweh, hath she acted presumptuously, Against the Holy One of Israel.
30 Como resultado, sus jóvenes serán asesinados en las calles; todos sus soldados morirán ese día, declara el Señor.
Therefore, shall her young men fall in her broadways, —And, all her men of war, be silenced in that day, Declareth Yahweh.
31 ¡Cuidado, porque estoy contra ustedes, pueblo arrogante! declara el Señor Dios Todopoderoso. Ha llegado el momento en que te castigaré.
Behold me! against thee most insolent one, Declareth My Lord Yahweh of hosts; For thy day, hath come, Thy time for punishment;
32 Ustedes, los arrogantes, tropezarán y caerán. No habrá nadie que os levante. Prenderé fuego a sus ciudades y quemaré todo lo que los rodea.
So shall the most insolent one stumble and fall, And he shall have none to lift him up, —And I will kindle a fire in his cities which shall devour all who are round about him.
33 Esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso: El pueblo de Israel y de Judá está siendo maltratado. Todos los que los capturaron se aferran a ellos, negándose a dejarlos ir.
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts—Oppressed were the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah, together, —And, all who took them captive, Held them fast Refused to let them go: —
34 Pero el que los rescata es poderoso; el Señor Todopoderoso es su nombre. Él los defenderá a ellos y a su causa, para que traiga paz a la tierra, pero problemas al pueblo de Babilonia.
Their Redeemer, can hold fast, Yahweh of hosts, is his name, He will, thoroughly plead, their plea, —That he may quiet the earth, And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
35 Una espada se levanta para atacar a los babilonios, declara el Señor, lista para atacar a los que viven en Babilonia, a sus funcionarios y a sus sabios.
A sword, is over the Chaldeans, Declareth Yahweh, —And against the inhabitants of Babylon, And against her princes, And against her wise men:
36 Se ha levantado una espada para atacar a sus falsos profetas, y ellos se convertirán en tontos. Se ha levantado una espada para atacar a sus soldados, y quedarán aterrorizados.
A sword, is against the praters, And they shall be shewn to be foolish, A sword, is against her heroes And they shall be dismayed:
37 Se ha levantado una espada para atacar a sus caballos y carros, junto con todos los soldados extranjeros que la acompañan, y se convertirán en mujeres asustadas. Se ha levantado una espada para atacar sus almacenes de tesoros, y serán saqueados.
A sword, is against his horses and against his chariots and, against all the rabble that are in her midst And they shall become women, —A sword, is against her treasures And they shall be made a prey:
38 Una sequía ha golpeado sus ríos, y se secarán. Porque es un país lleno de imágenes paganas. Estos horribles ídolos vuelven locos a sus adoradores.
A drought, is against her waters, And they shall be dried up, —For a land of images, it is, And with their shocking things, they act as men who are mad:
39 En consecuencia, vivirán allí animales del desierto y hienas, y será un hogar para los búhos. Estará deshabitado para siempre: no se habitará de una generación a otra.
Therefore shall the criers dwell with, the howlers, Yea ostriches, shall dwell therein, —So shall it be dwelt in no more for ever, Neither shall it be inhabited unto generation after generation.
40 De la misma manera que Dios destruyó a Sodoma y Gomorra y a sus ciudades vecinas, declara el Señor, nadie vivirá allí, nadie se quedará allí.
Like the divine overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and her neighbours, Declareth Yahweh, —There shall not dwell there—a man, Nor sojourn therein—a son of the earth-born.
41 ¡Mira! Un ejército avanza desde el norte. Una gran nación y muchos reyes vienen contra ti desde las tierras lejanas.
Lo! a people coming in from the North, —Yea, a great nation and many kings, shall be roused up out of the remote parts of the earth:
42 Llevan arcos y jabalinas. Son crueles y despiadados. Cuando gritan es como si el mar rugiera. Montan a caballo y atacan en formación contra ustedes, pueblo de Babilonia.
Bow and javelin, shall they grasp, Cruel, are they and will not have compassion, Their voice, like the sea, will roar, And, on horses, will they ride, —Set in array, as one man for battle, Against thee, O daughter of Babylon!
43 El rey de Babilonia ha oído las noticias y está aterrorizado. Está sobrecogido de miedo, con dolor como una mujer de parto.
The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, And unnerved are his hands, —Anguish, hath seized him, Writhing pain, as a woman in child-birth.
44 Tengan cuidado! Voy a salir como un león de la maleza junto al Jordán para atacar a los animales que pastan los verdes pastos. De hecho, voy a expulsar a los babilonios de su tierra muy rápidamente. ¿A quién elegiré para conquistarlos? ¿Quién es como yo? ¿Quién puede desafiarme? ¿Qué líder podría oponerse a mí?
Lo! as a lion, shall he come up from the majesty of the Jordan, Unto the pasture perennial, But I will wink—I will make them run away therefrom, Who then shall be the Chosen One whom against it, I may set in charge? For who shall be like unto, me? And who shall appoint me, a time? And who is the Shepherd that shall stand before me?
45 Así que escucha lo que el Señor ha planeado hacer a Babilonia y al país de Babilonia: Sus hijos serán arrastrados como corderos del rebaño, y por su culpa sus pastos se convertirán en un páramo.
Therefore hear ye, The counsel of Yahweh, which he hath counselled against Babylon, And his devices which he hath devised against the land of the Chaldeans, —Surely the little ones of the flock, shall drag them away, Surely he will cause the pasture to be astounded over them.
46 El sonido de la captura de Babilonia hará temblar la tierra; sus gritos se escucharán en todas las naciones.
At the noise of the taking of Babylon, the earth trembled, —And, the outcry, among the nations, was heard.
