Isaías 48
1 Escuchen esto, descendientes de Jacob, llamados por el nombre de Israel, y que provienen del linaje de Judá. Escuchen, ustedes que juran por el nombre del Señor, o que invocan al Dios de Israel, pero no verdadera ni sinceramente.
Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the spring of Judah, who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, —not in truth, nor in righteousness.
2 Ustedes dicen que son de la Ciudad Santa y afirman que confían en el Dios de Israel, cuyo nombre es el Señor Todopoderoso.
For of the holy city they call themselves, and upon the God of Israel they stay themselves, —The Lord of hosts is his name.
3 Hace tiempo que predije lo que iba a suceder: lo dije y se lo hice saber a la gente. Luego, de repente, decidí actuar, y todo se hizo realidad.
The former things have I declared from the beginning; and out of my mouth went they forth, and I announced them: suddenly did I accomplish them, and they came to pass;
4 Yo sé lo tercos que son ustedes, con cuellos inflexibles como el hierro y frentes duras como el bronce.
Because I knew that thou art obstinate, that like an iron sinew is thy neck, and thy brow of copper;
5 Hace tiempo que les predije estas cosas, antes de que ocurrieran. Se las expliqué para que no pudieran decir “Mi ídolo hizo esto”, o “Mi imagen y mi dios de metal ordenaron que sucediera esto”.
And I declared it to thee from the beginning; before yet it came to pass did I let thee hear it: lest thou should say, My idol hath done these things, and my graven image, and my molten image, have ordained them.
6 Has oído todo lo que predije y han visto cómo ha sucedido. ¿No quieren admitirlo? Ahora voy a contarles cosas nuevas, secretos de los que no sabes nada.
Thou hast heard it; see it all now; and you—will you not declare it? I caused thee to hear new things, from this time, even hidden things which thou hadst not known.
7 Son cosas nuevas, no son algo del pasado. Antes de hoy no habrán oído nada sobre ellos, así que no pueden decir: “Ah, sí, ya lo sabía”.
Now are they created, and not from the beginning; and before the day [that I announced them] thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
8 ¡No, nunca han oído eso, y nunca lo han sabido! ¡Nadie les ha hablado de eso antes! Sé lo tercos que son ustedes: ¡Su nombre es rebeldes de nacimiento!
But neither hadst thou heard it; nor didst thou know; nor had in ancient times thy ear been opened; for I knew that thou wouldst deal very treacherously, and a transgressor wast thou called from thy birth.
9 Pero debido a mi naturaleza yo retraso mi castigo; y a causa de mi reputación, no voy a destruirlos.
For the sake of my name will I defer my anger, and because of my praise will I restrain it toward thee, so that I may not cut thee off.
10 Miren cómo los he refinado, pero no como la plata: los elegí en el horno de la dificultad.
Behold, I have refined thee, though not into silver: I have approved thee in the crucible of affliction.
11 La razón por la que hago esto es por lo que soy, sí, por mi propia naturaleza. No dejaré que mi reputación sea dañada; no dejaré que nadie más la tenga.
For my own sake will I do it: for how would [my name] be dishonored? and my glory will I not give unto another.
12 Escúchame, Jacón, e Israel, al que llamé. Sólo yo soy Dios. Yo soy el primero y soy el último.
Hearken unto me, O Jacob, and Israel, my called one; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13 Yo puse los cimientos de la tierra con mis propias manos; yo personalmente extendí los cielos. Cuando llamo a las estrellas, todas toman su posición.
My hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned out the heavens: I call unto them, they stand forward together.
14 Reúnanse todos y escuchen. ¿Cuál de sus “dioses” ¿te ha dicho algo como esto? El que el Señor ama llevará a cabo los deseos del Señor contra Babilonia: atacará a los babilonios.
Assemble yourselves, all of you, and hear: Who among them hath told these things? He whom the Lord loveth, will do his pleasure on Babylon, and [display] his arm [on] the Chaldeans.
15 Yo mismo he hablado. Lo he llamado a hacer esto, y tendrá éxito en lo que haga.
I, even I, have spoken it, I have also called him: I have brought him, and he shall be prosperous on his way.
16 Acércate a mí y escucha esto. Desde el principio no he hablado en secreto; siempre estoy ahí justo cuando sucede. Ahora el Señor Dios y su Espíritu me han enviado para decirte esto:
Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; never from the beginning have I spoken in secret; from the time that it occurred, was I there. And now the Lord Eternal hath sent me, and his Spirit.
17 Esto es lo que dice el Señor, tu Redentor, el Santo de Israel, yo soy el Señor, tu Dios. Yo soy el que te enseña lo que es bueno para ti, el que te guía por el camino que debes seguir.
Thus hath said the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the Lord thy God who teach thee for thy profit, who lead thee by the way thou shouldst go.
18 ¡Si hubieras escuchado atentamente lo que te he dicho! Entonces tus bendiciones habrían fluido como un río, y la bondad te habría bañado como las olas del mar.
Oh that thou hadst but listened to my commandments! then would have been as a river thy peace, and thy prosperity as the waves of the sea:
19 Tus hijos, tus descendientes, habrían sido como todos esos granos de arena. No habrían tenido que ser destruidos, aniquilados ante mí.
And then would have been as the sand thy seed, and the offspring of thy body like the pebbles of the sea-shore; yet shall his name not be cut off nor destroyed from before me.
20 ¡Abandona Babilonia! ¡Huye de Babilonia con gritos de alegría! Hacedlo saber a todos, diciendo a toda la tierra: “¡El Señor ha redimido a su siervo Jacob!”
Go forth out of Babylon, flee away from the Chaldeans, with the voice of singing declare, announce this, carry it forth as far as the end of the earth; say, The Lord hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
21 No tenían sed cuando los condujo por el desierto: hizo que saliera agua de la roca para ellos. Abrió la roca y el agua salió a borbotones.
And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts; waters out of the rock he let drop down for them: and he cleaved the rock, and the waters gushed out.
22 Los impíos no tienen paz, dice el Señor.
There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.
