Isaías 26
1 En ese momento, este será el canto que se entone en la tierra de Judá: “¡Nuestra ciudad es una ciudad fuerte! ¡Sus muros y defensas son nuestra salvación!
In that day, shall be sung this song, in the land of Judah, —A strong city, have we! Salvation, will he set for walls and rampart,
2 Abre las puertas para que entre la nación que sigue la justicia, la nación que permanece fiel.
Open ye the gates, —That there may enter in—a righteous nation preserving fidelity.
3 Mantendrás en completa paz a los que mantienen su mente centrada en ti, porque confían en ti.
A purpose sustained, thou wilt guard, [saying], Prosper! Prosper! Because in thee, hath he been led to trust.
4 Confía en el Señor para siempre, porque el Señor Dios es la Roca eterna.
Trust ye in Yahweh, unto futurity, —For, in Yah, Yahweh, is a rock of ages.
5 Él derriba a los poderosos que viven con altivez; derriba la ciudad orgullosa con sus altos muros, haciéndola caer al suelo, hasta el polvo.
For he hath brought down the inhabitants of the height the city exalted, —He layeth it low, Layeth it low even to the ground, Levelleth it, even to the dust:
6 Los pobres la pisan; los oprimidos caminan sobre ella”.
The foot trampleth it, —The feet of the lowly, The steps of the weak,
7 Tú, Dios, haces lo que es justo, y enderezas el camino de los que viven rectamente; allanas su senda.
The path of a righteous man, is, even, —O Upright One! the track of a righteous man, thou makest level.
8 Sí, seguimos tus instrucciones, Señor, ponemos nuestra esperanza en ti. Lo que más deseamos es acordarnos de ti y de tu maravilloso nombre.
Surely in the path of thy regulations, O Yahweh, we waited for thee, —Unto thy Name and unto thy Memorial, was there a longing of soul:
9 Te busco en la noche y en mi interior te anhelo. Cuando tus leyes se muestran en la tierra, entonces los pueblos del mundo aprenden lo que es justo.
With my soul, longed I for thee in the night, Yea with my spirit within me, I kept on searching for thee, —For, when thy regulations [extend] to the earth, The inhabitants of the world will have learned, righteousness.
10 Aunque se muestre la gracia a los malvados, no aprenderán a hacer lo correcto. Incluso en un país donde la gente hace lo que es correcto, siguen haciendo el mal y no se olvidan de la grandeza del Señor.
Let favour be shewed to the lawless, he hath not learned righteousness, In a land of honest dealings, he acteth perversely, —And seeth not the splendour of Yahweh.
11 Señor, tú tienes la mano levantada, pero ellos no lo ven. Que vean tu apasionado compromiso por tu pueblo y se avergüencen; ¡que el fuego reservado para tus enemigos los destruya!
O Yahweh though thy hand be lifted up, —yet do they not see, Would they might see—and turn pale at a people’s zeal, —Surely, the fire of thine enemies, must consume them!
12 Señor, tú nos das la paz y la prosperidad; todo lo que hemos conseguido tú lo has hecho por nosotros.
O Yahweh, thou wilt ensure prosperity for us, —For even all our works, hast thou wrought for us,
13 Señor, Dios nuestro, ha habido otros señores además de ti que nos han gobernado, pero tú eres el único al que adoramos.
O Yahweh, our God! Lords other than thee, have owned us, —By thyself alone, will we call upon thy Name.
14 Están muertos, no volverán a vivir; no se levantarán de la tumba. Señor, tú los castigaste y los destruiste, incluso borrando todo recuerdo de ellos.
The dead, come not to life again, The shades, do not arise, —Therefore, thou hast visited and destroyed them, And caused to perish every memorial of them.
15 Tú has hecho crecer a la nación, Señor, tú has hecho crecer a la nación. Has ampliado nuestras fronteras de la tierra, y te hemos honrado.
Thou hast increased the nation, O Yahweh, Thou hast increased the nation thou hast gotten thyself glory, Thou hast extended far, all the ends of the land.
16 Señor, cuando sufrimos acudimos a ti, derramando nuestras oraciones como susurros mientras nos disciplinabas.
O Yahweh! in distress, they sought thee, —They poured out a whispered prayer, when thy chastening was upon them.
17 Al igual que una mujer embarazada que da a luz se revuelve y grita de dolor, así éramos nosotros en tu presencia, Señor.
Like as a woman with child—Draweth near to giving birth, Is in pain, Crieth out in her pangs So, were we before thee, O Yahweh; —
18 Sin embargo, aunque quedamos embarazadas y nos revolcamos de dolor, no dimos a luz más que aire. No logramos la salvación de la tierra, y los pueblos del mundo no han cobrado vida.
We were with child—We were in pain, As it were we brought forth wind, —Salvation, we could not accomplish for the earth, Neither were born the inhabitants of the world.
19 Pero los que murieron en ti, Señor, vivirán. Sus cuerpos resucitarán. Despiértense y canten de alegría, ustedes que duermen en el polvo, porque el rocío que reciben es como el rocío de la mañana que da vida a los que están en la tumba.
Thy dead, shall come to life again, My dead body, they shall arise, —Awake and shout for joy, ye that dwell in the dust For, a dew of light, is thy dew, And, earth, to the shades shall give birth.
20 Pueblo mío, entrad en vuestras casas y cerrad las puertas detrás de ustedes. Escóndanse allí por un tiempo hasta que pase la furia.
Come my people, enter into thy chambers, And shut thy doors behind thee, —Hide thee as it were a little moment Till the indignation pass over.
21 ¡Cuidado! El Señor viene desde donde vive para castigar a los pueblos de la tierra por sus pecados. La tierra revelará la sangre que se ha derramado en ella; la tierra ya no ocultará a los que han sido asesinados.
For lo! Yahweh, is coming forth out of his place, To visit the iniquity of earth’s inhabitant upon him, —Therefore shall the earth unveil her shed-blood, And throw a covering, no longer over her slain.
