Hebreos 7
1 Melquisedec fue rey de Salem y sacerdote del Dios Supremo. Conoció a Abraham, quien venía de regreso después de haber derrotado a los reyes, y lo bendijo.
FOR this Melchisedec, king of Salem, a priest of God most high, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 Y Abraham le dio diezmo de todo lo que había ganado. El nombre Melquisedec significa “rey de justicia” mientras que el rey de Salem significa “rey de paz”.
to whom also Abraham gave a tenth share of all the spoil: being, as the interpretation of his name imports, first, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, that is, King of peace:
3 No tenemos información sobre su padre o su madre, o sobre su genealogía. No sabemos cuándo nació ni cuándo murió. Así como el Hijo de Dios, sigue siendo sacerdote para siempre.
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but in exact resemblance with the Son of God, abideth a priest for ever.
4 Consideremos la grandeza de este hombre ante los ojos de Abraham, el patriarca, que incluso le entregó diezmo de lo que había ganado en la batalla.
Now observe how great is this Melchisedec, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave the tenth of the spoils.
5 Sí, pues los hijos de Leví, que son sacerdotes, tienen mandato por la ley de recibir diezmo del pueblo, que son sus hermanos y hermanas, y que son descendientes de Abraham.
For they indeed of the sons of Levi, who are admitted to priesthood, have an order to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though also sprung from the loins of Abraham.
6 Pero Melquisedec, sin pertenecer a esta descendencia, recibió diezmos de Abraham, y bendijo al que tenía las promesas de Dios.
But he who derived not his genealogy from them, received tithes from Abraham, and blessed him who had the promises;
7 No existe duda de que quien recibe bendición es inferior a quien bendice.
but without all dispute the inferior receives benediction from the superior.
8 En el primer caso, los que reciben el diezmo son hombres mortales, pero en el otro caso, se dice que los recibió uno que sigue viviendo.
And here indeed dying men receive the tithes, but there he hath a testimony borne to him that he liveth.
9 Entonces podríamos decir que Leví, el que recibe los diezmos, ha pagado diezmos por ser descendiente de Abraham,
And, if I may so say, through Abraham even Levi, who receiveth tithes, paid tithes.
10 pues aún no había nacido de su padre cuando Melquisedec conoció a Abraham.
For he was as yet in the loins of his father when Melchisedec met him.
11 Ahora, si hubiera sido posible lograr la perfección por el sacerdocio de Leví (pues así fue como se recibió la ley), ¿Por qué había necesidad de otro sacerdote que siguiera el orden de Melquisedec, y no del orden de Aarón?
If therefore there was perfection by the Levitical priesthood (for under that the people had the law given to them), what farther need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
12 Si se cambia el sacerdocio, la ley necesitaría cambiarse también.
For the priesthood being transferred, there is of necessity an abrogation of the law also.
13 Pero este de quien hablamos viene de otra tribu, una tribu que nunca ha provisto sacerdotes que sirvan en el altar.
For he to whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, in which no man approached the altar.
14 Está claro que nuestro Señor es descendiente de Judá, y Moisés nunca hizo mención sobre sacerdotes que provinieran de esta tribu.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang from Judah; to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning the priesthood;
15 Y esto queda aún más claro cuando vemos que aparece otro sacerdote similar a Melquisedec,
and it is yet more abundantly evident, that there should arise another priest after the likeness of Melchisedec,
16 que no llegó al sacerdocio por virtud de su ascendencia, sino por el poder de una vida que no puede ser destruida.
who was not made such by the law of a carnal commandment, but by the power of a life indissoluble.
For the testimony is, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (aiōn g165)
18 De modo que la norma anterior ha sido anulada porque era débil e inútil,
For there is indeed an abrogation of the preceding command, because of its weakness and inutility.
19 (porque la ley nunca perfeccionó nada). Pero ahora ha sido reemplazada por una esperanza mejor, por la cual podemos acercarnos a Dios.
For the law led to no perfection, but was an introduction to a better hope, by which we draw nigh unto God.
20 Esto no se hizo sin un juramento, aunque los que se convierten en sacerdotes lo hacen con un juramento.
Moreover, forasmuch as he was not made priest without an oath,
21 Pero él se convirtió en sacerdote con un juramento porque Dios le dijo: “El Señor ha hecho un juramento solemne y no cambiará de opinión: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre”. (aiōn g165)
(for they indeed were made priests without an oath; but he with an oath, by him who said unto him, “The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:”) (aiōn g165)
22 Es así como Jesús se convirtió en la garantía de un acuerdo de una relación con Dios que es mucho mejor.
by so much is Jesus become the surety of a better testament.
23 Ha habido muchos sacerdotes porque la muerte les impidió continuar su sacerdocio;
And they indeed are many who were made priests, because by death they were prevented from abiding in their office:
but this person, because he abideth for ever, hath a priesthood that passeth not over to another. (aiōn g165)
25 En consecuencia, tiene el poder para salvar por completo a los que se acercan a Dios por medio de él, viviendo siempre para rogar su caso a favor de ellos.
Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 Él es justamente el sumo sacerdote que necesitamos: santo y sin falta, puro y apartado de los pecadores, y con un lugar en lo más alto de los cielos.
For such an high-priest was suitable to us, holy, inoffensive, spotless, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:
27 A diferencia de los sumos sacerdotes humanos, él no necesita ofrecer sacrificios diarios por sus pecados y los de las personas. Él lo hizo una vez, y por todos, cuando se dio a sí mismo como ofrenda.
who hath not daily need, as the high-priests, first, to offer sacrifice for their own sins, afterwards, for those of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.
28 La ley designa hombres imperfectos como sumos sacerdotes, pero después de la ley, Dios hizo un juramento solemne, y designó a su hijo, que es perfecto para siempre. (aiōn g165)
For the law constitutes men high-priests, though they have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which is since the law, constitutes the Son, unto eternity completely perfect. (aiōn g165)
