Hageo 2

1 En el día vigesimoprimero del séptimo mes, el Señor envió un mensaje a través del profeta Ageo.

In the seventh [month], on the twenty-first of the month, a word of YHWH has been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying,

2 Dile a Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, gobernante de Judá, y al sumo sacerdote Josué, y al resto del pueblo:

“Now speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

3 ¿Hay alguno entre ustedes que haya visto la gloria anterior de esta casa? ¿Qué les parece ahora? ¿No les parece que se ve insignificante?

Who among you has been left that saw this house in its former glory? And what are you seeing it now? Is it not, compared with it, as nothing in your eyes?

4 ¡Ten fuerza, Zorobabel! ¡Ten fuerza, Josué, hijo de Josadac y sumo sacerdote! ¡Sé fuerte, pueblo que habitas en esta tierra! Trabajen, porque yo estoy con ustedes, dice el Señor Todopoderoso.

And now, be strong, O Zerubbabel,” A declaration of YHWH, “And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, And be strong, all you people of the land,” A declaration of YHWH, “And do, for I [am] with you,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts.

5 Tal como se los prometí cuando salieron de Egipto, mi Espíritu sigue entre ustedes. ¡No teman!

“The thing that I covenanted with you, In your coming forth from Egypt, And My Spirit is remaining in your midst, do not fear.”

6 Esto es lo que el Señor Todopoderoso dice: Pronto sacudiré los cielos y la tierra otra vez, así como el cielo y la tierra seca.

For thus said YHWH of Hosts: “Yet once more—it [is] a little, And I am shaking the heavens and the earth, And the sea, and the dry land,

7 Haré temblar a todas las naciones y el deseado de todas las gentes vendrá y yo llenaré esta casa de gloria, dice el Señor Todopoderoso.

And I have shaken all the nations, And they have come [to] the desire of all the nations, And I have filled this house [with] glory,” said YHWH of Hosts.

8 Mío es el oro y mía es la plata, dice el Señor Todopoderoso.

“The silver [is] Mine, and the gold [is] Mine,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts.

9 La gloria de esta segunda casa será más grande que la primera, dice el Señor Todopoderoso, y yo traeré paz a este lugar. Así lo declara el Señor Todopoderoso.

“Greater is the glory of this latter house, Than of the former,” said YHWH of Hosts, “And I give peace in this place,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts.

10 En el vigésimo cuarto día del noveno mes, en el Segundo año del reinado del rey Darío, el Señor envió un mensaje a través del profeta Ageo.

On the twenty-fourth of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, a word of YHWH has been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying,

11 “Esto es lo que dice el Señor Todopoderoso: Pregúntale a los sacerdotes acerca de la ley.

Thus said YHWH of Hosts: “Now ask the priests of the Law, saying,

12 Si alguien lleva un poco de carne de un sacrificio sagrado en un pliegue de su ropa, y ese pliegue toca pan, estofado, vino o aceite de oliva, o cualquier otro alimento, ¿se vuelve sagrado dicho alimento?” Y la respuesta de los sacerdotes fue: “No”.

Behold, [when] one carries holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he has come with his skirt against the bread, or against the stew, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food—is it holy?” And the priests answer and say, “No.”

13 Entonces Ageo les preguntó: “Si alguien se contamina al tocar un cuerpo muerto, y luego toca uno de esos alimentos, ¿se contaminan también?” Entonces los sacerdotes respondieron: “Sí, se contamina”.

And Haggai says, “If the unclean of body comes against any of these, is it unclean?” And the priests answer and say, “It is unclean.”

14 Entonces Ageo repsondió: “Del mismo modo ocurre con este pueblo, y con la nación que está delante de mi, dice el Señor. Todo lo que hacen, y todas sus ofrendas están contaminadas”.

And Haggai answers and says, “So [is] this people, and so [is] this nation before Me,” a declaration of YHWH, “and so [is] every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there—it is unclean.

15 Ahora piensen en lo que harán a partir de este día. Antes de poner piedra sobre piedra en la casa del Señor,

And now, please lay [it] to your heart, From this day and onward, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of YHWH.

16 ¿cómo eran sus vidas? Esperaban un granero lleno con viente medidas pero solo encontraron diez. Pensaron que podían vaciar cincuenta medidas del lagar pero solo había veinte.

From that time [one] has come to a heap of twenty, And it has been ten, He has come to the wine vat to draw out fifty measures, And it has been twenty.

17 Golpeé con tizón, moho y granizo sobre todo lo que trabajabas, pero aún así te negaste a Volver a mi, dice el Señor.

I have struck you with blasting, And with mildew, and with hail—All the work of your hands, And there is none of you with Me,” A declaration of YHWH.

18 Piensen en lo que harán a partir de este día, hoy, el vigesimo cuarto día del noveno mes, cuando se puso el fundamento para la casa del Señor. Piensen en esto:

“Now set [it] to your heart, from this day and onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth [month], even from the day that the temple of YHWH has been founded, set [it] to your heart.

19 La semilla aún está en el granero. La viña, la higuera, el árbol de granada, y el árbol de olivo no han dado fruto todavía. Pero a partir de este día te bendeciré.

Is the seed yet in the barn? And until now the vine and the fig, And the pomegranate, and the olive-tree, Have not borne—from this day I bless.”

20 Entonces el Señor envió otro mensaje a través del profeta Ageo en el vigesimo cuarto día del mes:

And there is a word of YHWH a second time to Haggai, on the twenty-fourth of the month, saying,

21 Dile a Zorobabel, gobernador de Judá, que voy a sacudir los cielos y la tierra.

“Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, I am shaking the heavens and the earth,

22 Destruiré los tronos y reinos, y el poder de los reinos sobre las naciones. Destruiré los carruajes y a sus jinetes. Los caballos y los jinetes caerán, y los hombres se matarán unos a otros con espada.

And have overturned the throne of kingdoms, And I have destroyed the strength of kingdoms of the nations, And overturned chariot and its charioteers, And horses and their riders have come down, Each by the sword of his brother.

23 Ese día, dice el Señor, te tomaré a ti, Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, y te convertiré en el sello en mi anillo, porque yo te he elegido. Así lo declara el Señor Todopoderoso.

In that day,” a declaration of YHWH of Hosts, “I take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant,” A declaration of YHWH, “And have set you as a signet, For I have fixed on you,” A declaration of YHWH of Hosts!
