Génesis 21
1 Y el Señor vino a ayudar a Sara, tal como se lo había prometido. El Señor cumplió la promesa que le había hecho a Sara.
And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;
2 Sara quedó embarazada y tuvo un hijo de Abraham cuando ya era viejo, en el tiempo exacto, como Dios lo había dicho.
and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;
3 Abraham llamó a su hijo Isaac.
and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him — Isaac;
4 Y lo circuncidó a los ocho días de nacido, según el mandato de Dios.
and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, [being] a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.
5 Y Abraham tenía 100 años cuando nació Isaac.
And Abraham [is] a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,
6 Sara entonces declaró: “Dios me ha hecho reír, y todos los que escuchen acerca de esto se reirán conmigo”.
and Sarah saith, 'God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.'
7 Además dijo: “¿Habría podido alguien decirle a Abraham que Sara tendría que dar de mamar a un hijo suyo? ¡Y ahora he tenido un hijo de Abraham aún su vejez!”
She saith also, 'Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?'
8 Y el bebé creció, y el día que fue destetado Abraham hizo una gran fiesta.
And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac's being weaned;
9 Pero Sara se dio cuenta de que Ismael, el hijo que la esclava egipcia Agar había tenido para Abraham, se burlaba de Isaac.
and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,
10 Entonces Sara fue donde Abraham y le dijo: “Tienes que deshacerte de esa mujer esclava y de su hijo! ¡Un hijo de esa esclava no será coheredero con mi hijo Isaac!”
and she saith to Abraham, 'Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son — with Isaac.'
11 Abraham se sintió muy triste porque Ismael era su hijo también.
And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son's sake;
12 Pero Dios le dijo a Abraham: “No te sientas mal en cuanto al hijo de la mujer esclava. Haz lo que Sara te pide, porque tu descendencia será contada a través de Isaac.
and God saith unto Abraham, 'Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee — hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.
13 Así que no te preocupes, porque yo también convertiré al hijo de la esclava en una gran nación, porque él también es tu hijo”.
As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he [is] thy seed.'
14 A la mañana siguiente, Abraham se levantó temprano. Empacó alimentos y un odre con agua para Agar, y puso todo esto en sus hombros. Entonces los despidió. Ella se fue y anduvo errante por el desierto de Beerseba.
And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing [it] on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;
15 Cuando se le acabó el agua, dejó al niño en medio de unos arbustos.
and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.
16 Entonces se fue y se sentó a cierta distancia, a unos cientos de yardas de distancia, pues pensaba: “¡No podré soportar ver a mi hijo morir!” Y al sentarse, reventó en llanto.
And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, 'Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.
17 Dios escuchó el llanto del niño, y el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo y le preguntó: “¿Qué ocurre, Agar? ¡No tengas miedo! Dios ha escuchado el llanto del niño desde donde está.
And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, 'What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he [is];
18 Levántate, ve a ayudar a tu hijo y consuélalo, porque yo lo convertiré en una gran nación”.
rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.'
19 Entonces Dios abrió sus ojos y ella pudo ver un pozo que estaba cerca. Así que fue y llenó su odre de agua y le dio de beber al niño.
And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle [with] water, and causeth the youth to drink;
20 Dios bendijo a Ismael y él creció, viviendo en el desierto. Se convirtió en un arquero con una gran habilidad.
and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;
21 Vivió en el desierto de Parán. Su madre le eligió una esposa de la tierra de Egipto.
and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.
22 En aquél mismo tiempo, Abimelec y Ficol, jefe de su ejército, vinieron a ver a Abraham. Y Abimelec le dijo: “Dios te bendice en todo lo que haces”.
And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh — Phichol also, head of his host — unto Abraham, saying, 'God [is] with thee in all that thou art doing;
23 Y continuó: “Así que júrame aquí y hora que no me traicionarás, ni a mis hijos, ni a mis descendientes. Del mismo modo que te he demostrado mi lealtad, haz lo mismo conmigo y con mi nación, en la cual vives”.
and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.'
24 “Así lo juro”, respondió Abraham.
And Abraham saith, 'I — I do swear.'
25 Entonces Abraham planteó ante Abimelec un problema relacionado con un pozo del que los siervos de Abimelec se habían apoderado a la fuerza.
And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech's servants have taken violently away,
26 “No sé quién hizo esto, y no lo habías mencionado antes. Nunca había oído acerca de esto hasta hoy”, respondió Abimelec.
and Abimelech saith, 'I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.'
27 Entonces Abraham le dio a Abimelec algunas de sus ovejas y ganado, y los dos hicieron un pacto.
And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;
28 Abraham también apartó siete corderas del rebaño.
and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.
29 “¿Qué significan esas siete corderas que has apartado del rebaño?” le preguntó Abimelec.
And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, 'What [are] they — these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?'
30 “Te doy estas siete corderas como compensación por tu reconocimiento de que yo cavé este pozo”, respondió Abraham.
And he saith, 'For — the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;'
31 Por eso llamaron ese lugar Beerseba, porque ahí los dos juraron e hicieron un pacto.
therefore hath he called that place 'Beer-Sheba,' for there have both of them sworn.
32 Después de haber hecho el pacto en Beerseba, Abimelec y Ficol – el comandante de su ejército –, se fueron y llegaron a la tierra de los filisteos.
And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth — Phichol also, head of his host — and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;
33 Abraham plantó un árbol de tamarisco en Beerseba y allí adoró al Señor, al Dios eterno.
and [Abraham] planteth a tamarisk in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;
34 Y Abraham vivió en el país de los filisteos por muchos años.
and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
