Esdras 8

1 Esta es una lista de los jefes de familia y los registros genealógicos de los que volvieron conmigo de Babilonia durante el reinado del rey Artajerjes:

Now these are the chiefs of their divisions, and this is the genealogy of those that went up with me, in the reign of king Artaxerxes, from Babylon.

2 De los hijos de Finees, Gersón. De los hijos de Itamar, Daniel. De los hijos de David, Hattush,

Of these sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Chattush;

3 hijo de Secanías. De los hijos de Paros, Zacarías, y con él se registraron 150 hombres.

Of the sons of Shechanyah, [who was] of the sons of Par'osh, Zechariah; and with him were recorded by genealogy of males one hundred and fifty.

4 De los hijos de Pahat-moab, Elioenai, hijo de Zeraías, y con él 200 hombres.

Of the sons of Pachath-moab, Elyeho'enai the son of Zerachyah, and with him were two hundred males.

5 De los hijos de Zatu, Secanías, hijo de Jahaziel, y con él 300 hombres.

Of the sons of Shechanyah, the son of Yachaziel, and with him were three hundred males.

6 De los hijos de Adín, Ebed, hijo de Jonatán, y con él 50 hombres.

And of the sons of 'Adin, 'Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him were fifty males.

7 De los hijos de Elam, Jesaías, hijo de Atalía, y con él 70 hombres.

And of the sons of 'Elam, Jesha'yah the son of 'Athalyah, and with him were seventy males.

8 De los hijos de Sefatías, Zebadías, hijo de Micael, y con él 80 hombres.

And of the sons of Shephatyath, Zebadyah the son of Michael, and with him were eighty males.

9 De los hijos de Joab, Abdías, hijo de Jehiel, y con él 218 hombres.

Of the sons of Joab, 'Obadiah the son of Jechiel, and with him were two hundred and eighteen males.

10 De los hijos de Bani, Selomit, hijo de Josifías, y con él 160 hombres.

And of the sons of Shelomith, the son of Jossiphyah, and with him were one hundred and sixty males.

11 De los hijos de Bebai, Zacarías, hijo de Bebai, y con él 28 hombres.

And of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him were twenty and eight males.

12 De los hijos de Azgad, Johanán, hijo de Hacatán, y con él 110 hombres.

And the sons of 'Azgad, Jochanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him were one hundred and ten males.

13 De los hijos de Adonicam, los últimos, sus nombres eran Elifelet, Jeuel y Semaías, y con ellos 60 hombres.

And of the sons of Adonikam the last; and those are their names, Eliphelet, Je'iel, and Shema'yah, and with them were sixty males.

14 De los hijos de Bigvai, Utai y Zacur, y con ellos 70 hombres.

And of the sons of Bigvai, 'Uthai, and Zabbur, and with them were seventy males.

15 Reuní a los exiliados que regresaban en el canal de Ahava. Acampamos allí durante tres días mientras revisaba quiénes habían venido: la gente común, los sacerdotes y los levitas. Descubrí que no había ni un solo levita

And I gathered them together to the river that runneth into the Ahava, and we encamped there three days: and I looked about among the people, and the priests, but of the sons of Levi I found none there.

16 Así que mandé llamar a Eliezer, Ariel, Semaías, Elnatán, Jarib, Elnatán, Natán, Zacarías y Mesulam, que eran líderes, y a Joiarib y Elnatán, que eran hombres con buena visión.

Then sent I for Eli'ezer, for Ariel, for Shema'yah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, the head men; also for Joyarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

17 Les dije que fueran a ver a Iddo, el jefe de los servidores del Templo en Casifia, pidiéndole a él y a sus parientes que nos enviaran ministros para el Templo de nuestro Dios.

And I sent them with a charge unto Iddo the chief at the place Cassiphia, and I laid the words in their mouth to speak unto Iddo, and to his brother, who were appointed at the place Cassiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

18 Como nuestro Dios bondadoso estaba con nosotros, nos trajeron a Serebías, un hombre con buena visión de los hijos de Mahli, hijo de Leví, hijo de Israel, junto con sus hijos y hermanos, un total de dieciocho hombres;

And they brought unto us according to the good hand of our God upon us a man of intelligence, of the sons of Machli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel, namely, Sherebyah, with his sons and his brothers, eighteen;

19 y Hasabías, junto con Jesaías, de los hijos de Merari, y sus hermanos y sus hijos, un total de veinte hombres.

And Chashabyah, and with him Jesha'yah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty.

20 Además, trajeron a 220 de los sirvientes del Templo, un grupo designado por David y sus funcionarios para ayudar a los levitas. Todos ellos estaban registrados por su nombre.

Also of the temple-servants, whom David and the princes had assigned for the service of the Levites two hundred and twenty temple-servants, all of whom were expressed by names.

21 En el canal de Ahava convoqué un ayuno para confesar nuestros pecados ante Dios y pedirle un viaje seguro para nosotros y nuestros hijos, junto con todas nuestras posesiones.

Then did I proclaim a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to request from him a prosperous journey for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

22 Me había resistido a pedir al rey que nos diera una escolta militar para protegernos de los enemigos en el camino. Le habíamos dicho al rey: “Nuestro Dios bondadoso cuida de todo el que lo sigue, pero muestra su ira contra el que lo abandona”.

For I was ashamed to ask of the king an army and horsemen to assist us against an enemy on the way; because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all those that seek him for good; but his power and his wrath are against all those that forsake him.

23 Así que ayunamos y pedimos a Dios que nos protegiera, y él respondió a nuestras oraciones.

So we fasted and besought our God for this, and he suffered himself to be entreated by us.

24 Entonces designé a doce de los principales sacerdotes, y Serebías, Hasabías y diez de sus hermanos,

Then set I apart of the chiefs of the priests twelve persons, Sherebyah, Chashabyah, and with them ten of their brethren.

25 y los pesé y los entregué las donaciones de plata y oro, y los artículos que el rey, sus consejeros, sus dirigentes y todo el pueblo de Israel habían dado allí para el Templo de nuestro Dios.

And I weighed out unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered.

26 Pesé y puse en sus manos 650 talentos de plata, artículos de plata del Templo que pesaban 100 talentos, 100 talentos de oro,

And I weighed out into their hand of silver six hundred and fifty talents, and of silver vessels one hundred talents, of gold one hundred talents;

27 20 cuencos de oro que valían 1.000 dáricos, y dos artículos de bronce muy pulido, tan valiosos como el oro.

Also twenty cups of gold, of a thousand drachms; and two vessels of fine polished copper, valuable as gold.

28 Les dije: “Ustedes están apartados para el Señor, y estos objetos del Templo también lo están. La plata y el oro son una ofrenda voluntaria al Señor, el Dios de vuestros antepasados.

And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord; and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord the God of your fathers.

29 Ustedes deben custodiarlos y guardarlos hasta que los entreguen, pesándolos ante los sumos sacerdotes, los levitas y los jefes de familia de Israel en Jerusalén, en las salas del tesoro dentro del Templo del Señor”.

Watch ye, and guard them, until ye weigh them out before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites, and the chiefs of the divisions of Israel, at Jerusalem, into the chambers of the house of the Lord.

30 Los sacerdotes y los levitas se hicieron cargo de la plata y el oro y de los objetos del Templo que habían sido pesados para ser llevados al Templo de nuestro Dios en Jerusalén.

And the priests and the Levites accepted what was weighed out of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring the same to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

31 El duodécimo día del primer mes, salimos del Canal de Ahava para ir a Jerusalén, y nuestro Dios estaba con nosotros para protegernos de las emboscadas enemigas en el camino.

And we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was over us, and he delivered us from the hand of any enemy, and of such as lie in wait on the way.

32 Finalmente llegamos a Jerusalén y descansamos allí durante tres días.

And we came to Jerusalem, and remained there three days.

33 Al cuarto día, la plata y el oro y los objetos del Templo fueron pesados en el Templo de nuestro Dios y entregados a Meremot, hijo del sacerdote Urías, acompañado por Eleazar, hijo de Finees. También estaban presentes los levitas Jozabad, hijo de Jesúa, y Noadías, hijo de Binui.

And on the fourth day were the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed out in the house of our God into the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriyah the priest; and with him was El'azar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua', and No'adyah the son of Binnui, the Levites;

34 Todo fue revisado, tanto en número como en peso, y el peso total fue anotado en ese momento.

By number and by weight of everything: and all the weight was written down at the same time.

35 Entonces los exiliados que habían regresado del cautiverio sacrificaron holocaustos al Dios de Israel: doce toros por todo Israel, noventa y seis carneros, setenta y siete corderos y una ofrenda por el pecado de doce cabras. Todo fue sacrificado como holocausto al Señor.

Those that came out of the captivity, the children of the exile, offered burnt-offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven sheep, twelve he-goats for a sin-offering: all as burnt-offerings unto the Lord.

36 También entregaron los decretos del rey a los oficiales principales del rey y de los gobernadores de la provincia al oeste del Éufrates, que entonces prestaron asistencia al pueblo y al Templo de Dios.

And they delivered the king's commands unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side of the river; and these endowed the people, and the house of God.
