Esdras 7
1 Después de todo esto, durante el reinado de Artajerjes, rey de Persia, llegó Esdras desde Babilonia. Era hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,

2 hijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ajitub,
sone of Sellum, sone of Sadoch, sone of Achitob,
3 hijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Meraiot,
sone of Amarie, sone of Azarie,
4 hijo de Zeraías, hijo de Uzí, hijo de Bucí,
sone of Maraioth, sone of Saraie, sone of Ozi,
5 hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo del sumo sacerdote Aarón.
sone of Bocci, sone of Abisue, sone of Phynees, sone of Eleazar, sone of Aaron, preest at the bigynnyng, was in the rewme of Artaxerses, king of Persis; thilke Esdras stiede fro Babiloyne,
6 Este Esdras llegó de Babilonia y era un escriba experto en la Ley de Moisés, que el Señor, el Dios de Israel, había dado a Israel. El rey había concedido a Esdras todo lo que había pedido, porque el Señor, su Dios, estaba con él.
and he was a swift writere in the lawe of Moises, which the Lord God of Israel yaf; and the kyng yaf to hym al his axyng, by the goode hoond of his Lord God on hym.
7 En el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes partió hacia Jerusalén, acompañado de parte del pueblo de Israel y de algunos de los sacerdotes y levitas, cantores y porteros, y servidores del Templo.
And there stieden of the sones of Israel, and of the sones of preestis, and of the sones of dekenes, and of the syngeris, and of the porteris, and of Nathyneis, `in to Jerusalem in the seuenthe yeer of Artaxerses, kyng.
8 Esdras llegó a Jerusalén en el quinto mes del séptimo año del reinado de Artajerjes.
And thei camen in to Jerusalem in the fyuethe monethe; thilke is the seuenthe of the kyng.
9 Había emprendido el viaje desde Babilonia el primer día del primer mes, y llegó a Jerusalén el primer día del quinto mes, yendo con él su Dios bondadoso.
For in the firste dai of the firste monethe he bigan to stie fro Babiloyne, and in the firste dai of the fyuethe monethe he cam in to Jerusalem, bi the good hond of his God on hym. Forsothe
10 Porque Esdras se había comprometido a adquirir conocimientos de la Ley del Señor, queriendo practicarla y enseñar en Israel sus reglas y cómo vivir.
Esdras made redi his herte to enquere the lawe of the Lord, and to do, and teche in Israel the comaundement and doom.
11 Esta es una copia de la carta que el rey Artajerjes entregó al sacerdote y escriba Esdras, que había estudiado los mandamientos y reglamentos del Señor dados a Israel:
Sotheli this is the saumpler of the pistle of the comaundement, which the kyng Artaxerses yaf to Esdras, preest, writere lerud in the wordis and comaundementis of the Lord, and in hise cerymonyes in Israel.
12 “Artajerjes, rey de reyes, al sacerdote Esdras, el escriba de la Ley del Dios del cielo: Saludos.
Artaxerses, kyng of kyngis, desirith helthe to Esdras, the preest, moost wijs writere of the lawe of God of heuene.
13 Por la presente emito este decreto: Cualquiera del pueblo de Israel o de sus sacerdotes o levitas en mi reino que voluntariamente decida ir a Jerusalén con ustedes puede hacerlo.
It is demyd of me, that whom euer it plesith in my rewme of the puple of Israel, and of hise preestis, and dekenes, to go in to Jerusalem, go he with thee.
14 Ustedes son enviados por el rey y sus siete consejeros para investigar la situación en Judá y Jerusalén en lo que se refiere a la Ley de su Dios, que ustedes llevan consigo.
For thou art sent fro the face of the kyng and of hise seuene counseleris, that thou visite Judee and Jerusalem in the lawe of thi God, which is in thin hond;
15 También te ordenamos que lleves contigo la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros han donado voluntariamente al Dios de Israel, que vive en Jerusalén,
and that thou bere siluer and gold, which the kyng and hise counseleris han offrid bi fre wille to God of Israel, whos tabernacle is in Jerusalem.
16 junto con toda la plata y el oro que recibas de la provincia de Babilonia, así como las donaciones voluntarias del pueblo y los sacerdotes al Templo de su Dios en Jerusalén.
And take thou freli al siluer and gold, which euer thou fyndist in al the prouynce of Babiloyne, and the puple wole offre, and of preestis that offriden bi fre wille to the hows of her God, which is in Jerusalem;
17 Con este dinero comprarás primero todos los toros, carneros y corderos que sean necesarios, junto con sus ofrendas de grano y de bebida, y los presentarás en el altar del Templo de tu Dios en Jerusalén.
and bie thou bisili of this monei calues, rammes, lambren, and sacrifices, and moiste sacrifices of tho; and offre thou tho on the auter of the temple of youre God, which temple is in Jerusalem.
18 Luego, tú y los que están contigo pueden decidir usar el resto de la plata y el oro de la manera que mejor les parezca, de acuerdo con la voluntad de tu Dios.
But also if ony thing plesith to thee, and to thi britheren, for to do of the residue siluer and gold, do ye bi the wille of youre God;
19 “Pero los objetos que te han dado para el servicio del Templo de tu Dios deben ser entregados todos al Dios de Jerusalén.
also bitake thou in the siyt of God in Jerusalem the vessels, that ben youun in to the seruyce of the hows of thi God.
20 Si hay alguna otra cosa necesaria para el Templo de tu Dios que tengas que proveer, puedes cargarla al tesoro real.
But also thou schalt yyue of the tresouris of the kyng, and of the comyn arke, `ethir purse, and of me `othere thingis, that ben nedeful in the hows of thi God, as myche euere as is nedeful, that thou spende.
21 “Yo, el rey Artajerjes, decreto que todos los tesoreros al oeste del Éufrates deben proveer todo lo que el sacerdote Esdras, el escriba de la Ley del Dios del cielo, les pida, y debe ser provisto en su totalidad,
Y Artaxerses, kyng, haue ordeyned, and demyd to alle the keperis of the comyn arke, that ben biyende the flood, that what euer thing Esdras, the preest, writere of the lawe of God of heuene, axith of you, ye yyue with out tariyng,
22 hasta cien talentos de plata, cien corsos de trigo, cien baños de vino, cien baños de aceite de oliva y cantidades ilimitadas de sal.
`til to an hundrid talentis of siluer, and to an hundrid `mesuris clepid chorus of wheete, and til an hundrid mesuris clepid bathus of wyn, and `til to an hundrid `mesuris clepid bathus of oile, salt forsothe without mesure.
23 Asegúrate de proveer en su totalidad todo lo que el Dios del cielo requiera para su Templo, pues ¿por qué habría de caer su ira sobre el rey y sus hijos?
Al thing that perteyneth to the custom, `ethir religioun, of God of heuene, be youun diligentli in the hows of God of heuene, lest perauenture he be wrooth ayens the rewme of the kyng and of hise sones.
24 Ten en cuenta también que todos los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros, sirvientes del Templo u otros trabajadores de este Templo están exentos de pagar cualquier impuesto, tributo o tasa, y no estás autorizado a cobrarles.
Also we make knowun to you of alle the preestis, and dekenes, syngeris, and porteris, and Nathyneis, and mynystris of the hows of this God, `that ye han not power to put on hem tol, and tribute, and costis for keperis of the lond.
25 “Tú, Esdras, debes seguir la sabiduría de tu Dios que posees, debes nombrar magistrados y jueces para impartir justicia a todo el pueblo al oeste del Éufrates, a todos los que siguen las leyes de tu Dios. Tú deberás enseñar estas leyes a los que no las cumplen.
Forsothe thou, Esdras, bi the wisdom of thi God, which is in thin hond, ordeyne iugis and gouernouris, that thei deme to the puple, which is biyende the flood, that is, to hem that kunnen the lawe of thi God, and the lawe of the kyng; but also teche ye freli vnkunnynge men.
26 Cualquiera que no cumpla la ley de tu Dios y la ley del rey, será castigado severamente, ya sea con la muerte, el destierro, la confiscación de bienes o la prisión”.
And ech man, that doth not the lawe of thi God, and the lawe of the kyng diligentli, doom schal be of hym, ethir in to the deeth, ethir in to exilyng, ethir in to condempnyng of his catel, ethir certis in to prisoun. And Esdras, the writere, seide, Blissid be the Lord God of oure fadris,
27 Alabado sea el Señor, el Dios de nuestros antepasados, que puso en la mente del rey honrar así el Templo del Señor en Jerusalén,
that yaf this thing in the herte of the kyng, that he schulde glorifie the hows of the Lord,
28 y que me ha mostrado tanta bondad al honrarme ante el rey, sus consejeros y todos sus altos funcionarios. Como el Señor, mi Dios, estaba conmigo, me animé y convoqué a los jefes de Israel para que regresaran conmigo a Jerusalén.
which is in Jerusalem, and bowide his mercy in to me bifor the kyng, and hise counseleris, and bifore alle the myyti princes of the kyng. And Y was coumfortid bi the hond of `my Lord God, that was in me, and Y gederide of the sones of Israel princes, that stieden with me.
