Ezequiel 15
1 Me llegó un mensaje del Señor que decía:
Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
2 “Hijo de hombre, ¿es mejor la madera de la vid que la de cualquier otro árbol del bosque?
“Son of man, how is a vine better than any tree with branches that is among the trees in a forest?
3 ¿Puedes hacer algo útil con la madera de la vid? ¿Puedes usarla para hacer aunque sea una clavija para colgar ollas y sartenes?
Do people take wood from a vine to make anything? Or do they make a peg from it to hang anything on it?
4 “No, sólo hay que echarla al fuego para mantenerlo encendido. Incluso así, el fuego quema los dos extremos, pero sólo carboniza la parte del centro. ¿Se puede utilizar para algo?
See! If it is thrown into a fire as fuel, and if the fire has burned both of its ends and also the middle, is it good for anything?
5 Ni siquiera antes de quemarla podrías convertirla en algo útil. Y aún es menos útil una vez que el fuego la ha quemado y carbonizado.
See! When it was complete, it could not make anything; surely then, when the fire has burned, then it still will not make anything useful.
6 “Así que esto es lo que dice el Señor Dios: De la misma manera que he tomado la madera de una vid del bosque y la he arrojado al fuego para que se queme, así voy a arrojar al pueblo de Jerusalén.
Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: Unlike the trees in the forests, I have given the vine as fuel for fires; I will act in the same way toward the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
7 Me volveré contra ellos. Aunque hayan escapado de este fuego, otro fuego los va a quemar. Cuando me vuelva contra ellos, entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor.
For I will set my face against them. Though they come out from the fire, yet the fire will consume them; so you will know that I am Yahweh, when I set my face against them.
8 “Voy a convertir el país en un desierto, porque me fueron infieles, declara el Señor Dios”.
Then I will make the land into an abandoned wasteland because they have committed sin—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.”
