Ester 4

1 Cuando Mardoqueo se enteró de todo lo que había sucedido, rasgó sus ropas y se vistió de saco y ceniza, y recorrió la ciudad llorando y lamentándose de dolor.

Now when Mordecai perceiued all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackecloth and ashes, and went out into the middes of the citie, and cryed with a great crye, and a bitter.

2 Llegó hasta la puerta del palacio, porque a nadie se le permitía entrar en la puerta del palacio vestido de cilicio.

And he came euen before the Kings gate, but he might not enter within the Kings gate, being clothed with sackecloth.

3 Cuando el decreto y las órdenes del rey llegaron a todas las provincias, los judíos se pusieron a llorar con terrible angustia. Ayunaron, lloraron y se lamentaron, y muchos se acostaron con saco y ceniza.

And in euery prouince, and place, whither the Kings charge and his commission came, there was great sorowe among the Iewes, and fasting, and weeping and mourning, and many laye in sackecloth and in ashes.

4 Las doncellas y los eunucos de Ester vinieron y le dijeron, y la reina estaba muy disgustada. Le envió ropa para que se quitara el cilicio, pero él se negó a aceptarla.

Then Esters maydes and her eunuches came and tolde it her: therefore the Queene was very heauie, and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackecloth from him, but he receiued it not.

5 Llamó a Hatac, uno de los eunucos del rey asignados para atenderla, y le ordenó que fuera a ver a Mardoqueo y averiguara qué estaba haciendo y por qué.

Then called Ester Hatach one of the Kings eunuches, whom he had appointed to serue her, and gaue him a commandement vnto Mordecai, to knowe what it was, and why it was.

6 Hatac fue a ver a Mardoqueo en la plaza de la ciudad, frente a la puerta del palacio.

So Hatach went foorth to Mordecai vnto the streete of the citie, which was before the Kings gate.

7 Mardoqueo le explicó todo lo que le había sucedido, incluyendo la cantidad exacta de dinero que Amán había prometido pagar al tesoro real por la destrucción de los judíos.

And Mordecai tolde him of all that which had come vnto him, and of the summe of the siluer that Haman had promised to pay vnto the Kings treasures, because of the Iewes, for to destroy them.

8 Mardoqueo también le dio una copia del decreto que se había emitido en Susa para su destrucción, para que se lo mostrara a Ester y se lo explicara, y le pidió que la instruyera para que fuera a ver al rey y le pidiera clemencia y le rogara por su pueblo.

Also he gaue him the copy of the writing and commission that was giuen at Shushan, to destroy them, that he might shewe it vnto Ester and declare it vnto her, and to charge her that she should goe in to the King, and make petition and supplication before him for her people.

9 Hatac regresó y le contó a Ester lo que Mardoqueo había dicho.

So when Hatach came, he told Ester the wordes of Mordecai.

10 Entonces Ester habló con Hatac y le ordenó que entregara este mensaje a Mardoqueo.

Then Ester sayde vnto Hatach, and commanded him to say vnto Mordecai,

11 “Todos los funcionarios del rey, e incluso la gente de las provincias del imperio del rey, saben que cualquier hombre o cualquier mujer que se dirija al rey, entrando en su corte interior sin ser convocado, es condenado a muerte -esa es la única ley del rey- a menos que el rey les tienda su cetro de oro para que puedan vivir. En mi caso, hace treinta días que no me llaman para ir al rey”.

All the Kings seruants and the people of the Kings prouinces doe knowe, that whosoeuer, man or woman, that commeth to the King into the inner court, which is not called, there is a law of his, that he shall dye, except him to whom the King holdeth out the golden rodde, that he may liue. Now I haue not bene called to come vnto the King these thirtie dayes.

12 Cuando le contaron a Mardoqueo lo que dijo Ester,

And they certified Mordecai of Esters wordes.

13 Mardoqueo le devolvió el mensaje a Ester, diciendo: “¡No creas que porque vives en el palacio del rey tu vida es la única que se salvará de todos los judíos!

And Mordecai saide, that they should answere Ester thus, Thinke not with thy selfe that thou shalt escape in the Kings house, more then all the Iewes.

14 Si te quedas callada ahora, la ayuda y el rescate llegarán a los judíos desde algún otro lugar, y tú y tus parientes morirán. Quién sabe: ¡podría ser que hayas venido a ser reina para un momento como éste!”

For if thou holdest thy peace at this time, comfort and deliuerance shall appeare to the Iewes out of another place, but thou and thy fathers house shall perish: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdome for such a time?

15 Ester le respondió a Mardoqueo diciendo:

Then Ester commanded to answere Mordecai,

16 “Haz que todos los judíos de Susa se reúnan y ayunen por mí. No coman ni beban nada durante tres días y tres noches. Yo y mis doncellas también ayunaremos. Después iré a ver al rey, aunque sea contra la ley, y si muero, que muera”.

Goe, and assemble all the Iewes that are found in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and eate not, nor drinke in three dayes, day nor night. I also and my maydes will fast likewise, and so will I go in to the King, which is not according to the lawe: and if I perish, I perish.

17 Mardoqueo fue e hizo todo lo que Ester le había dicho que hiciera.

So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Ester had commanded him.
