Deuteronomio 18
1 Los sacerdotes levitas, de hecho toda la tribu de Leví, no tendrán participación en la asignación de tierras con los otros israelitas. Deben comer de las ofrendas de comida presentadas al Señor, que es lo que tienen derecho a recibir.
The priests the Levites [Descendants of United with], all the tribe of Levi [United with], shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel [God prevails]. They shall eat the offerings of Adonai made by fire and his portion.
2 Aunque no son dueños de tierras entre las otras tribus, el Señor cuidará de ellos, como lo prometió.
They shall have no inheritance among their brothers. Adonai is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.
3 La parte del sacrificio de un toro o una oveja que es traída por el pueblo para los sacerdotes es la siguiente: A los sacerdotes se les debe dar el hombro, la mandíbula y el interior.
This shall be the priests’ mishpat ·due· from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, the two cheeks, and the inner parts.
4 Darán las primicias de su grano, vino nuevo y aceite de oliva, así como la primera lana esquilada de su rebaño.
The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the first fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.
5 Porque el Señor su Dios ha elegido a Leví y a sus descendientes de todas tus tribus para que estén ante él y sirvan en su nombre para siempre.
For Adonai your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in Adonai’s name, him and his sons forever.
6 Si un levita se convence de que debe mudarse de cualquier ciudad israelita y va al lugar que el Señor elija,
If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel [God prevails], where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which Adonai shall choose;
7 entonces se le permitirá servir en el nombre del Señor su Dios como todos sus compañeros levitas que están allí en servicio ante el Señor.
then he shall minister in the name of Adonai his God, as all his brothers the Levites [Descendants of United with] do, who stand there before Adonai.
8 Todos ellos recibirán las mismas asignaciones de comida, a pesar de que él haya recibido dinero de la venta de la propiedad de su padre.
They shall have like portions to eat, in addition to that which comes from the sale of his family possessions.
9 Una vez que entres en el país que el Señor tu Dios te da, no imites las costumbres ofensivas de las naciones que están allí.
When you have come into the land which Adonai your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the abominations of those nations.
10 No debe haber nadie que sacrifique a su hijo o hija en el fuego, que practique adivinación o adivinación de la fortuna, que utilice magia o la hechicería,
There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,
11 que practique la brujería, que visite a un médium o espiritista, o que se comunique con los muertos. Cualquiera que haga tales cosas ofende al Señor.
or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a sorcerer, or a necromancer.
12 Es por estas cosas ofensivas que el Señor tu Dios está expulsando a las naciones antes que tú.
For whoever does these things is detestable to Adonai. Because of these abominations, Adonai your God drives them out from before you.
13 Debes ser inocente de tales cosas en la presencia del Señor tu Dios.
You shall be perfect with Adonai your God.
14 Aunque estas naciones, cuya tierra ocuparán ustedes, escuchen a los magos y adivinos, el Señor su Dios les prohíbe a ustedes hacer lo mismo.
For these nations that you shall dispossess sh'ma ·hear obey· those who practice sorcery and to diviners; but as for you, Adonai your God has not allowed you so to do.
15 El Señor tu Dios les enviará un profeta como yo, y será de entre el mismo pueblo. Deben escucharlo.
Adonai your God will raise up to you a prophet from among you, of your brothers, like me. You shall sh'ma ·hear obey· him.
16 Recuerden lo que le dijeron al Señor su Dios en Horeb cuando estaban reunidos allí. Dijeron: “Por favor, no nos dejes seguir escuchando al Señor nuestro Dios ni ver este fuego aterrador nunca más. ¡De lo contrario moriremos!”
This is according to all that you desired of Adonai your God in Horeb [Desert] in the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not sh'ma ·hear obey· again Adonai my God’s voice, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.”
17 Entonces el Señor me dijo: “Tienen razón en lo que dicen.
Adonai said to me, “They have well said that which they have spoken.
18 Voy a enviarles un profeta de su pueblo. Le daré mis mensajes y les dirá todo lo que le ordene.
I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall enjoin him.
19 Me haré cargo de todo aquel que no escuche mi mensaje que el profeta habla en mi nombre.
Whoever does not honor the words of the Prophet will give an account to God. The prophet's words are equal authority to God's words. It shall happen, that whoever will not sh'ma ·hear obey· my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
20 Sin embargo, si algún profeta afirma estar entregando un mensaje en mi nombre que no le he ordenado dar, o habla en nombre de otros dioses, ese profeta debe ser ejecutado”.
But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not enjoined him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other deities, that same prophet shall die.”
21 Se preguntarán: “¿Cómo podemos estar seguros de que un mensaje no ha venido del Señor?”
You may say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Adonai has not spoken?”
22 Cuando un profeta habla en el nombre del Señor y lo que dice no sucede o se hace realidad, entonces eso no es un mensaje del Señor. En ese caso el profeta ha hablado con desprecio hacia el Señor. No se dejen intimidar por él.
When a prophet speaks in Adonai’s name, if the thing does not follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Adonai has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.
