Amós 3
1 Pueblo de Israel, escuchen el mensaje que el Señor ha enviado contra ustedes. Todos ustedes, a quienes saqué de la tierra de Egipto.
Heare this worde that the Lord pronounceth against you, O children of Israel, euen against the whole familie which I brought vp from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Elegí tener una relación especial solamente contigo, en medio de todas las familias de la tierra, y por ello los castigaré por su maldad.
You onely haue I knowen of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visite you for all your iniquities.
3 ¿Pueden dos caminar juntos sin ponerse de acuerdo para encontrarse?
Can two walke together except they bee agreed?
4 ¿Acaso un León ruge en medio de la selva antes de cazar su presa? ¿Acaso una cría de león gruñe desde su guarida si no ha cazado nada?
Will a lion roare in ye forest, when he hath no pray? or wil a lions whelpe cry out of his den, if he haue taken nothing?
5 ¿Acaso un ave cae en una trampa a menos que se calibre el resorte? ¿Acaso la trampa funcionará si no cae un ave en ella?
Can a birde fall in a snare vpon the earth, where no fouler is? or will he take vp the snare from the earth, and haue taken nothing at all?
6 Cuando suena la trompeta en la ciudad, ¿no debería alarmarse el pueblo? Cuando el desastre llega a la ciudad, ¿no es por obra del Señor?
Or shall a trumpet be blowen in the citie, and the people be not afraide? or shall there be euil in a citie, and the Lord hath not done it?
7 Porque el Señor no hace nada sin revelar sus intenciones a sus siervos los profetas.
Surely the Lord God will doe nothing, but he reueileth his secrete vnto his seruantes the Prophets.
8 El león ha rugido, ¿quién no temerá? El Señor ha hablado, ¿quién podrá negarse a hablar por él?
The lyon hath roared: who will not bee afraide? the Lord God hath spoken: who can but prophecie?
9 Anuncia esto en los castillos de Asdod y en los castillos en la tierra de Egipto: Reúnanse en los montes de Samaria y vean el alboroto y la opresión que hay en el país.
Proclayme in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the lande of Egypt, and saye, Assemble your selues vpon the mountaines of Samaria: so beholde the great tumultes in the middes thereof, and the oppressed in the middes thereof.
10 Ellos no saben hacer lo recto, declara el Señor. Han guardado en sus castillos lo que han arrebatado con violencia y lo que han robado.
For they knowe not to doe right, sayth the Lord: they store vp violence, and robbery in their palaces.
11 Por eso, dice el Señor, un enemigo te rodeará, quebrantará tus baluartes, y saqueará tus castillos.
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, An aduersary shall come euen rounde about the countrey, and shall bring downe thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shalbe spoyled.
12 Esto es lo que dice el Señor: Como un pastor que trata de rescatar a una oveja de la boca de un león, pero solo salva un par de patas, o la punta de una oreja, así sucederá con el pueblo de Israel que habita en Samaria: Solo se “salvará” una esquina del sofá, o el trozo de la pata de una cama.
Thus saieth the Lord, As the shephearde taketh out of the mouth of the lyon two legges, or a piece of an eare: so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus, as in a couche.
13 ¡Escuchen! Adviertan a la casa de Jacob, dice el Señor Dios de poder.
Heare, and testifie in the house of Iaakob, saith the Lord God, the God of hostes.
14 Porque ese día castigaré a Israel por sus pecados. Destruiré los altares de Betel: los extremos del altar serán destruidos y caerán.
Surely in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel vpon him, I wil also visite the altars of Beth-el, and the hornes of the altar shall be broken off, and fall to the ground.
15 Yo derribaré sus casas de verano también, y sus casas llenas de marfil quedarán en ruinas. Todas sus casas serán destruidas.
And I wil smite the winter house with the sommer house, and the houses of yuorie shall perish, and the great houses shalbe consumed, sayth the Lord.
