Hechos 7
1 “¿Son ciertas estas acusaciones?” preguntó el sumo sacerdote.
Then sayde ye chefe prest: is it even so?
2 “¡Hermanos y padres, escúchenme!” respondió Esteban. “Dios apareció en su gloria a nuestro padre Abraham, cuando vivía en Mesopotamia, antes de que se mudara a Harán.
And he sayde: ye men brethren and fathers harken to. The God of glory appered vnto oure father Abraha whyll he was yet in Mesopotamia before he dwelt in Charran
3 “Dios le dijo: ‘Deja tu tierra y tu parentela, y vete a la tierra que yo te mostraré’.
and sayd vnto him: come out of thy contre and from thy kynred and come into the londe which I shall shewe the.
4 Y Abraham se marchó de esa tierra de los Caldeos y vivió en Harán. Después de la muerte de su padre, Dios lo envió aquí a este país donde ahora viven ustedes.
Then came he out of the londe of Chaldey and dwelt in Charran. And after that assone as his father was deed he brought him into this lande in which ye now dwell
5 Dios no le dio a Abraham una herencia aquí, ni siquiera un metro cuadrado. Pero Dios le prometió a Abraham que le daría a él y a sus descendientes la posesión de la tierra, aunque no tenía hijos.
and he gave him none inheritaunce in it no not the bredeth of a fote: but promised yt he wolde geve it to him to possesse and to his seed after him when as yet he had no chylde.
6 También Dios le dijo que sus descendientes vivirían en un país extranjero y que allí serían tomados como esclavos y maltratados durante cuatrocientos años.
God verely spake on this wyse that his seade shulde be a dweller in a straunge londe and that they shulde kepe them in bondage and entreate them evyll. iiii. C. yeares.
7 Luego Dios dijo: ‘Yo castigaré a la nación que los tome como esclavos. Y al final saldrán de allí y vendrán aquí a adorarme’.
But the nacion to whom they shalbe in bondage will I iudge sayde God. And after that shall they come forthe and serve me in this place.
8 Dios también le dio a Abraham el pacto de la circuncisión, y por eso, cuando nació Isaac, Abraham lo circuncidó al octavo día. Isaac fue el padre de Jacob, y Jacob el padre de los doce patriarcas.
And he gave him the covenaunt of circumcision. And he begat Isaac and circumcised him the viii. daye and Isaac begat Iacob and Iacob the twelve patriarkes
9 “Los patriarcas, quienes estaban celosos de José, lo vendieron como esclavo en Egipto. Pero Dios estaba con él,
And the patriarkes havinge indignacio solde Ioseph into Egipte. And God was with him
10 y lo rescató de todos sus problemas. Le dio sabiduría y lo ayudó a ganar el favor del Faraón, quien lo puso como gobernador sobre Egipto y sobre la casa real.
and delivered him out of all his adversities. And gave him faveour and wisdome in the sight of Pharao kynge of Egipte which made him governer over Egipte and over all his housholde.
11 “Entonces hubo una gran hambruna en todo Egipto y Canaán, causando terrible miseria y nuestros padres no tenían alimento.
Then came ther a derth over all the londe of Egipt and Canaan and great affliccion that our fathers founde no sustenauce.
12 Cuando Jacob escuchó que había grano en Egipto, envió a nuestros antepasados a hacer una primera visita.
But when Iacob hearde that ther was corne in Egipte he sent oure fathers fyrst
13 Pero durante su segunda visita, José les reveló a sus hermanos quién era, y el Faraón descubrió el origen familiar de José.
and at the seconde tyme Ioseph was knowen of his brethren and Iosephs kynred was made knowne vnto Pharao.
14 Entonces José envió a buscar a su padre y a todos sus parientes: Setenta y cinco, en total.
Then sent Ioseph and caused his father to be brought and all his kynne thre score and xv. soules.
15 Así que Jacob viajó hacia Egipto, y murió allí, como también nuestros antepasados.
And Iacob descended into Egipte and dyed bothe he and oure fathers
16 Sus cuerpos fueron traídos de regreso a Siquem y fueron puestos en la tumba que Abraham había comprado con plata de los hijos de Jamor, en Siquem.
and were translated into Sichem ond were put in ye sepulcre that Abraham bought for money of the sonnes of Emor at Sichem.
17 “Cuando se acercaba el tiempo para el cumplimiento de la promesa que Dios le había hecho a Abraham, el número de los habitantes de Egipto aumentó.
When ye tyme of ye promes drue nye (which God had sworme to Abraham) the people grewe and multiplied in Egipte
18 Y subió un nuevo rey al trono, que no conocía de José.
till another kynge arose which knewe not of Ioseph.
19 Este rey se aprovechó de nuestro pueblo y trató mal a nuestros antepasados, obligándolos a abandonar a sus bebés para que murieran.
The same dealte suttelly with oure kynred and evyll intreated oure fathers and made them to cast oute their younge chyldren that they shuld not remayne alyve.
20 Fue en este tiempo cuando nació Moisés. Era un niño hermoso, y durante tres meses recibió cuidado en la casa de su padre.
The same tyme was Moses borne and was a proper childe in ye sight of God which was norisshed vp in his fathers housse thre monethes.
21 Cuando llegó el momento de ser abandonado, la hija del Faraón lo rescató y cuidó de él como su propio hijo.
When he was cast out Pharoes doughter toke him vp and norisshed him vp for her awne sonne.
22 “Moisés recibió instrucción en todas las áreas del conocimiento conforme a los Egipcios, y se convirtió en un gran orador y líder.
And Moses was learned in all maner wisdome of the Egipcians and was mighty in dedes and in wordes.
23 Sin embargo, cuando tenía cuarenta años de edad, decidió visitar a sus parientes, los israelitas.
And when he was full forty yeare olde it came into his hert to visit his brethren the chyldren of Israhel.
24 Y vio a uno de ellos que era maltratado, por lo cual intervino para defenderlo. Entonces, tomó venganza en favor del hombre y mató al egipcio.
And when he sawe one of them suffre wronge he defended him and avenged his quarell that had the harme done to him and smote the Egypcian.
25 Moisés pensaba que sus hermanos, los israelitas, verían que Dios los estaba rescatando a través de él, pero no lo vieron así.
For he supposed hys brethren wolde have vnderstonde how yt God by his hondes shuld save them But they vnderstode not.
26 Al día siguiente, cuando llegó, dos israelitas estaban peleando. Entonces trató de hacerlos reconciliar para que dejaran de pelear. ‘¡Señores! ¡Ustedes son hermanos!’ les dijo. ‘¿Por qué se atacan el uno al otro?’
And the next daye he shewed him selfe vnto the as they strove and wolde have set the at one agayne sayinge: Syrs ye are brethren why hurte ye one another?
27 “Pero el hombre que había comenzado la pelea empujó a Moisés. ‘¿Quién te puso como guardián de nosotros? ¿Acaso ahora eres nuestro juez?’ le preguntó.
But he that dyd his neghbour wronge thrust him awaye sayinge: who made ye a rular and a iudge amonge vs?
28 ‘¿Vas a matarme como mataste ayer al egipcio?’
What wilt thou kyll me as thou dyddest the Egyptian yester daye?
29 Y cuando escuchó esto, Moisés huyó. Entonces se fue a vivir como exiliado en la tierra de Madián, donde tuvo dos hijos.
Then fleed Moses at that sayenge and was a stranger in the londe of Madian where he begat two sonnes.
30 “Cuarenta años más tarde, en el desierto del Monte Sinaí, un ángel se le apareció en las llamas de una zarza que ardía.
And when. xl. yeares were expired ther appered to him in the wyldernes of mounte Syna an angell of the Lorde in a flamme of fyre in a busshe.
31 Y cuando Moisés vio esto, se sorprendió, y se aproximó para ver más de cerca. Entonces la voz del Señor le habló:
When Moses sawe it he wondred at the syght. And as he drue neare to beholde the voyce of the Lorde came vnto him:
32 ‘Yo soy el Dios de tus padres, el Dios de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob’. Entonces Moisés tembló de temor y no se atrevía a levantar la vista.
I am ye God of thy fathers the God of Abraham the God of Isaac and the God of Iacob. Moses trembled and durst not beholde.
33 El Señor le dijo: ‘Quita tus sandalias, porque el lugar donde estás es santo.
Then sayde ye Lorde to him: Put of thy showes from thy fete for the place where thou stondest is holy grounde.
34 Yo he visto el sufrimiento de mi pueblo en Egipto, y he oído sus clamores. He descendido para rescatarlos. Ahora ven, porque voy a enviarte a Egipto’.
I have perfectly sene the affliccion of my people which is in Egypte and I have hearde their gronynge and am come doune to delyver them. And now come and I will sende the into Egypte.
35 “Este fue el mismo Moisés que el pueblo había rechazado cuando dijeron: ‘¿Quién te puso como gobernante y juez sobre nosotros?’ Dios lo envió para que fuera tanto gobernante como libertador, por medio del ángel que se le apareció en la zarza.
This Moses whom they forsoke sayinge: who made the a ruelar and a iudge: the same God sent bothe a ruler and delyverer by ye hondes of the angell which appered to him in the busshe.
36 Entonces Moisés los sacó después de realizar señales milagrosas en Egipto, en el Mar Rojo, y siguió haciéndolo en el desierto durante cuarenta años.
And the same brought them out shewynge wonders and signes in Egypte and in the reed see and in the wyldernes. xl. yeares.
37 Este es el mismo Moisés que le prometió a los israelitas: ‘Dios les enviará un profeta como yo proveniente de su propio pueblo’.
This is that Moses which sayde vnto the chyldre of Israel: A Prophet shall the Lorde youre God rayse vp vnto you of youre brethren lyke vnto me him shall ye heare.
38 Y Moisés estaba con el pueblo de Dios reunido cuando el ángel le habló en el Monte Sinaí, y ahí junto con nuestros antepasados recibió la palabra viva de Dios para que nos la diera a nosotros.
This is he that was in ye congregacion in the wyldernes with the angell which spake to him in ye moute Syna and with oure fathers. This man receaved the worde of lyfe to geve vnto vs
39 Él fue al que nuestros padres no escucharon. Ellos lo rechazaron y decidieron regresar a Egipto.
to who oure fathers wolde not obeye but cast it from them and in their hertes turned backe agayne into Egypte
40 Y le dijeron a Aarón: ‘Elabora dioses para que nos guíen, porque no sabemos qué ha ocurrido con Moisés, el que nos sacó de la tierra de Egipto’.
sayinge vnto Aaron: Make vs goddes to goo before vs. For this Moses that brought vs out of the londe of Egypte we wote not what is become of him.
41 Entonces elaboraron un ídolo en forma de becerro, le presentaban sacrificios, y celebraban lo que ellos mismos habían hecho.
And they made a calfe in those dayes and offered sacrifice vnto the ymage and reioysed in the workes of their awne hondes.
42 “Así que Dios desistió de ellos. Y los dejó adorar las estrellas del cielo. Esto es lo que escribieron los profetas: ‘¿Acaso ustedes los israelitas me dieron ofrendas o hicieron sacrificios para mi durante los cuarenta años en el desierto?
Then God turned him selfe and gave them vp that they shuld worship the starres of the skye as it is written in the boke of the prophetes. O ye of ye housse of Israel gave ye to me sacrefices and meate offerynges by the space of xl. yeares in the wildernes?
43 No, ustedes se llevaron el tabernáculo del dios Moloc y la imagen de la estrella del dios Refán, imágenes que ustedes hicieron para adorarlas. Por lo tanto yo los enviaré a exilio hasta más allá de Babilonia’.
And ye toke vnto you the tabernacle of Moloch and the starre of youre god Remphan figures which ye made to worshippe them. And I will translate you beyonde Babylon.
44 “Nuestros antepasados tenían el Tabernáculo del testimonio en el desierto. Dios le había dicho a Moisés cómo tenía que hacerlo, siguiendo el modelo que había visto.
Oure fathers had the tabernacle of witnes in ye wyldernes as he had apoynted the speakynge vnto Moses that he shuld make it acordynge to the fassion that he had sene.
45 Más tarde, nuestros antepasados lo llevaron junto con Josué para asentarse en la tierra tomada de las naciones que el Señor expulsó delante de ellos. Y permaneció ahí hasta el tiempo de David.
Which tabernacle oure fathers receaved and brought it in with Iosue into the possession of the gentyls which God drave out before the face of oure fathers vnto the tyme of David
46 David halló el favor de Dios y pidió hacer una morada permanente para el Dios de Jacob.
which founde favour before God and desyred that he myght fynde a tabernacle for the God of Iacob.
47 Pero fue Salomón el que construyó un Templo para él.
But Salomon bylt him an housse.
48 Por supuesto que el Todopoderoso no vive en los Templos que jnosotros hacemos. Como dijo el profeta:
How be it he that is hyest of all dwelleth not in teple made with hondes as saith the Prophete:
49 ‘El cielo es mi trono, y la tierra es el lugar donde pongo mis pies. ¿Qué tipo de morada pueden ustedes construir para mí?’ pregunta el Señor. ‘¿Qué cama podrían hacerme ustedes para descansar?
Heven is my seate and erth is my fote stole what housse will ye bylde for me sayth the Lorde? or what place is it that I shuld rest in?
50 ¿Acaso no lo hice yo todo?’
hath not my honde made all these thinges?
51 “¡Pueblo arrogante y terco! ¡Nunca escuchan! ¡Ustedes siempre pelean contra el Espíritu Santo! ¡Actúan como lo hacían sus padres!
Ye stiffenecked and of vncircumcised hertes and eares: ye have all wayes resisted the holy goost: as youre fathers dyd so do ye.
52 ¿Hubo acaso algún profeta que sus padres no persiguieran? Mataron a todos los que profetizaban sobre la venida de Aquél que es verdaderamente bueno y recto. Él es Aquél a quien ustedes traicionaron y asesinaron.
Which of the prophetes have not youre fathers persecuted? And they have slayne them which shewed before of the commynge of that iust whom ye have now betrayed and mordred.
53 Ustedes, los que recibieron la ley por medio de los ángeles, pero se negaron a guardarla”.
And ye also have receaved a lawe by the ordinaunce of angels and have not kept it.
54 Cuando oyeron esto, los miembros del concilio se enfurecieron, y le hacían gruñidos, crujiendo sus dientes.
When they hearde these thinges their hertes clave a sunder and they gnasshed on him with their tethe.
55 Pero Esteban, lleno del Espíritu Santo, elevó su mirada al cielo y vio la gloria de Dios, y a Jesús a la diestra de Dios.
But he beynge full of the holy goost loked vp stedfastlye with his eyes into heven and sawe the glorie of God and Iesus stondynge on the ryght honde of God
56 “Miren”, dijo él, “Veo el cielo abierto, y al Hijo del Hombre a la diestra de Dios”.
and sayde: beholde I se the hevens open and the sonne of man stondynge on the ryght honde of god.
57 Pero ellos taparon sus oídos con sus manos y gritaban tan fuerte como podían. Todos se apresuraron juntos hacia él,
Then they gave a shute with a loude voyce and stopped their eares and ranne apon him all at once
58 lo llevaron a rastras fuera de la ciudad, y comenzaron a apedrearlo. Sus acusadores pusieron sus abrigos junto a un joven llamado Saulo.
and caste him out of the cite and stoned him. And the witnesses layde doune their clothes at a yonge mannes fete named Saul.
59 Y mientras lo seguían apedreando, Esteban oró: “Señor Jesús, recibe mi espíritu”.
And they stoned Steven callynge on and sayinge: Lorde Iesu receave my sprete.
60 Entonces se arrodilló, clamando: “¡Señor, por favor no les tengas en cuenta este pecado!” Y después de decir esto, murió.
And he kneled doune and cryed with a loude voyce: Lorde laye not this synne to their charge. And when he had thus spoken he fell a slepe.
