Hechos 24
1 Cinco días más tarde, Ananías, el sumo sacerdote, llegó con algunos de los líderes judíos, y con un abogado llamado Tértulo. Y presentaron acusaciones formales contra Pablo ante el gobernador.
And after five days Ananias the high priest with certain elders, and a certain orator Tertyllus, came down, who appeared before the governor against Paul.
2 Y cuando Pablo fue llamado, Tértulo comenzó a presentar el caso contra él. Y dijo: “Su Excelencia Gobernador Félix, hemos disfrutado de un largo período en paz bajo su gobierno, y como resultado de su sabio juicio se han hecho reformas para el beneficio de la nación.
And he having been called, Tertyllus began to accuse him, saying,
3 Todos en el país estamos muy agradecidos por esto.
Receiving great peace through thee, and prosperity accruing to this nation through thy wisdom, we receive with all gratitude, both always, and everywhere, O most noble Felix.
4 “Pero para no cansarlo, por favor sea amable en prestarnos atención por un momento.
But in order that I may not weary you excessively, I exhort you to hear us patiently according to your clemency.
5 Nos dimos cuenta de que este hombre es una verdadera peste, levantando rebeliones entre los judíos, y es cabecilla de la secta nazarena.
For having found this man pestilential, and stirring up seditions to all the Jews who are throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
6 Trató de contaminar el Templo y por eso lo arrestamos.
who also endeavored to pollute the temple: whom we indeed arrested,
8 Al interrogarlo, usted mismo descubrirá la verdad de nuestras acusaciones”.
with whom you yourself, having made inquiry, are able to know concerning all these things of which we accuse him.
9 Y los judíos se le unieron, diciendo que todo esto era verdad.
And the Jews were consenting, saying, Truly these things are so.
10 Entonces el gobernador hizo señas a Pablo para que respondiera. “Reconociendo que usted ha sido juez de esta nación durante muchos años, gustosamente presentaré mi defensa”, comenzó Pablo.
And Paul responded, the governor beckoning to him to speak; Knowing you to be a judge to this nation from many years, I cheerfully apologize as to the things concerning myself:
11 “Usted puede verificar fácilmente que yo llegué a Jerusalén para adorar hace apenas doce años.
you being able to know, that there are not more than twelve days to me since I came up to Jerusalem to worship.
12 Nadie me encontró nunca discutiendo en el Templo con nadie, o incitando a la gente a amotinarse en ninguna sinagoga o en ninguna otra parte de la ciudad.
Neither did they find me in the temple disputing with any one, or causing an excitement of the multitude, neither in the synagogues, nor throughout the city:
13 Tampoco pueden probarle a usted ninguna de sus demás acusaciones contra mí.
neither are they able to prove before you the things which they are now accusing me.
14 “Pero le admitiré esto: Sirvo al Dios de nuestros padres, siguiendo las creencias de El Camino, a lo que ellos llaman una secta hereje. Yo creo en todo lo que la ley enseña y lo que está escrito en los libros de los profetas.
But I confess this to you, that according to the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of our fathers, believing all things which have been written in the law and in the prophets:
15 Tengo la misma esperanza en Dios que ellos tienen, creyendo que habrá una resurrección de los buenos y de los malvados.
having hope towards God, which they themselves also receive, that there is going to be a resurrection, both of the just and unjust.
16 Por ello trato de asegurarme de tener siempre una conciencia tranquila ante Dios y ante todos.
In this I also exercise, to always have a conscience void of offense toward God and men.
17 “Después de haber estado lejos durante unos años, regresé para traer dinero para ayudar a los pobres y para dar ofrendas a Dios.
And after many years I came to do alms and offerings to my race;
18 Eso fue lo que me encontraron haciendo, culminando la ceremonia de purificación. Y no había ninguna multitud o disturbio.
in which they found me having been purified in the temple, not with rabble, nor with an uproar; and were certain Jews from Asia,
19 Pero ciertos judíos de la provincia de Asia estaban allí, y que deberían estar aquí presentes ante usted para presentar sus cargos contra mí, si es que tienen alguno.
whom it behooves to be present before me, and accuse me, if they should have anything against me.
20 De lo contrario, permita que estos hombres expliquen de qué crimen me hallaron culpable cuando estuve ante el concilio,
Or let them tell what injustice they found, while I was standing before the sanhedrim,
21 excepto el hecho de que exclamé: ‘Estoy bajo juicio hoy porque creo en la resurrección de los muertos’”.
except concerning this one voice, which I cried out standing in their midst, that concerning the resurrection of the dead I am judged before you this day.
22 Entonces Félix, quien estaba bien informado sobre el Camino, aplazó el juicio. “Cuando el comandante Lisias venga, entonces tomaré mi decisión respecto a tu caso”, dijo.
And Felix having learned more thoroughly the things concerning the way, deferred them, saying, When Lysias the chiliarch may come down, I will diagnose the things appertaining to you:
23 Entonces ordenó al centurión que mantuviera a Pablo bajo custodia pero que le permitiera tener algunas medidas de libertad y que dejara que sus amigos cuidaran de él sin restricciones.
having commanded the centurion to keep him, and let him have liberty, and prohibit no one of his friends from ministering unto him.
24 Algunos días después, regresó junto a su esposa Drusila, quien era judía. Y envió a buscar a Pablo y lo escuchó hablar sobre la fe en Jesucristo.
And after certain day, Felix with Drusilla his wife, being a Jewess, coming, sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith which is towards Christ Jesus.
25 Y Pablo debatió con ellos sobre vivir rectamente, sobre el dominio propio, y sobre el juicio venidero. Félix se intranquilizó y le dijo a Pablo: “Vete ahora, y enviaré a buscarte cuando tenga la oportunidad”.
And he reasoning concerning righteousness and temperance and the coming judgment, Felix, being alarmed, responded, Go thy way for this time; and having received an opportunity, I will call for thee:
26 Esperando que Pablo lo sobornara con dinero, a menudo Félix mandaba a buscar a Pablo y hablaba con él.
at the same time also hoping that money will be given to him by Paul; therefore indeed the more frequently sending for him, he conversed with him.
27 Pasaron dos años y Félix fue sucedido por Porcio Festo. Pero para mantener el favor de los judíos, Félix dejó a Pablo en la cárcel.
But two years having passed away Felix received Porcius Festus as his successor: and Felix, wishing to confer on the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.
