Hechos 13

1 La iglesia de Antioquía tenía profetas y maestros: Bernabé, Simón (llamado el Negro), Lucio de Cirene, Manaén (amigo de la infancia de Herodes, el tetrarca), y Saulo.

Now there were at Antioch, in the church that was [there], prophets and teachers, Barnabas, and Symeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen the foster-brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 Mientras estaban adorando al Señor y ayunando, el Espíritu Santo dijo: “Aparten a Bernabé y a Saulo para que hagan el trabajo para el cual los he llamado”.

And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 Después de ayunar, orar y colocar sus manos sobre ellos para bendecirlos, los enviaron.

Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 Entonces Bernabé y Saulo, dirigidos por el Espíritu Santo, fueron a Seleucia. Y de allí navegaron hasta Chipre.

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, went down to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 Al llegar a Salamis, proclamaron la palabra de Dios en las sinagogas judías. Y Juan estaba con ellos como asistente.

And when they were at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John as their attendant.

6 Viajaron por toda la isla y finalmente llegaron a Pafos. Allí encontraron a un mago judío, un falso profeta que tenía por nombre Barjesús.

And when they had gone through the whole island unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-Jesus;

7 Era cercano al gobernador, Sergio Paulo, un hombre inteligente. Este gobernador invitó a Bernabé y a Saulo para que fueran a visitarlos pues quería escuchar la palabra de Dios.

which was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding. The same called unto him Barnabas and Saul, and sought to hear the word of God.

8 Pero el mago Elimas (su nombre griego) se les opuso, tratando de evitar que el gobernante creyera en Dios.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.

9 Saulo, también llamado Pablo, estaba lleno del Espíritu Santo, y lo miró fijamente.

But Saul, who is also [called] Paul, filled with the Holy Ghost, fastened his eyes on him,

10 “¡Estás lleno de engaño y de todo tipo de mal, hijo del diablo, enemigo de todo lo recto! ¿Nunca dejarás de pervertir los caminos verdaderos del Señor?

and said, O full of all guile and all villany, thou son of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

11 Mira, la mano del Señor está sobre ti y quedarás ciego. Y no verás el sol por un tiempo”. De inmediato, sobre él cayó neblina y oscuridad, y tuvo que encontrar a alguien que pudiera llevarlo de la mano.

And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

12 Cuando el gobernante vio lo que había ocurrido, creyó en Dios, asombrado por la enseñanza sobre el Señor.

Then the proconsul, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

13 Entonces Pablo y los que estaban con él navegaron desde Pafos y se fueron a Perga, en Panfilia, pero Juan los dejó y regresó a Jerusalén.

Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.

14 Entonces fueron por toda Perga y luego siguieron hasta Antioquía de Pisidia. El sábado fueron a la sinagoga y se sentaron.

But they, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia; and they went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

15 Después de leer la Ley y los Profetas, los líderes de la sinagoga les enviaron un mensaje, diciendo: “Hermanos, por favor, compartan con la congregación toda palabra de ánimo que puedan”.

And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

16 Entonces Pablo se levantó, moviendo su mano para obtener su atención, y comenzó a hablar. “Hombres de Israel, y todos los que reverencian a Dios, escúchenme.

And Paul stood up, and beckoning with the hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, hearken.

17 El Dios del pueblo de Israel eligió a nuestros antepasados, y le dio prosperidad a nuestro pueblo durante su estadía en la tierra de Egipto. Con su gran poder los sacó de Egipto

The God of this people Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they sojourned in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm led he them forth out of it.

18 y los trató con paciencia en el desierto durante cerca de cuarenta años.

And for about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

19 “Después de haber derrocado a siete naciones que vivían en la tierra de Canaán, Dios dividió su tierra entre los Israelitas y se las dio como heredad. Esto tomó cerca de cuatrocientos cincuenta años.

And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave [them] their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years:

20 Luego los dotó de jueces como líderes hasta los días del profeta Samuel.

and after these things he gave [them] judges until Samuel the prophet.

21 Entonces el pueblo pidió un rey, y Dios le dio a Saúl, hijo de Quis, de la tribu de Benjamín, quien gobernó durante cuarenta años.

And afterward they asked for a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the space of forty years.

22 Entonces Dios quitó a Saúl, y puso a David como su rey. Dios aprobó a David, diciendo: ‘He encontrado en David, hijo de Isaí, un hombre conforme a mi corazón. Él cumplirá todos mis propósitos’.

And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; to whom also he bare witness, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who shall do all my will.

23 “Jesús es descendiente de David; él es el Salvador que Dios prometió enviar a Israel.

Of this man’s seed hath God according to promise brought unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus;

24 Antes de que Jesús viniera, Juan anunció el bautismo de arrepentimiento a todo el pueblo de Israel.

when John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

25 Y cuando Juan estaba finalizando su misión, dijo: ‘¿Quién creen que soy? Yo no soy al que ustedes buscan. Pero después de mi viene uno cuyas sandalias no soy digno de desatar’.

And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, What suppose ye that I am? I am not [he]. But behold, there cometh one after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose.

26 “Hermanos míos, hijos de Abraham y todos ustedes que reverencian a Dios: ¡Este mensaje de salvación ha sido enviado a nosotros!

Brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth.

27 La gente que vivía en Jerusalén y sus líderes no reconocieron a Jesús ni entendieron las palabras que los profetas habían dicho y que leen cada sábado. ¡De hecho, ellos mismos cumplieron las palabras proféticas al condenarlo!

For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled [them] by condemning [him].

28 Aunque no pudieron encontrar ninguna prueba para sentenciarlo, pidieron a Pilato que lo mandara a matar.

And though they found no cause of death [in him], yet asked they of Pilate that he should be slain.

29 Después de haber cumplido todo lo que se había predicho que ellos le harían a Jesús, lo bajaron de la cruz y lo sepultaron en una tumba.

And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb.

30 Pero Dios lo levantó de los muertos,

But God raised him from the dead:

31 y él se apareció durante muchos días a aquellos que lo habían seguido desde Galilea hasta Jerusalén. Ellos son ahora sus testigos ante la gente.

and he was seen for many days of them that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people.

32 “Nosotros estamos aquí para traerles a ustedes la buena noticia de la promesa que Dios hizo a nuestros antepasados,

And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers,

33 que ahora ha cumplido en nuestro favor al levantar a Jesús de los muertos. Tal como está escrito en el libro de Salmos 2: ‘Tú eres mi Hijo, y hoy me he convertido en tu Padre’.

how that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

34 Dios lo levantó de los muertos, para que no muriera más, tal como lo indicó al decir: ‘Yo les daré cosas santas y fieles, como se lo prometí a David’.

And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he hath spoken on this wise, I will give you the holy and sure [blessings] of David.

35 Tal como lo dice otro salmo: ‘No dejarás que tu Santo conozca la putrefacción’.

Because he saith also in another [psalm], Thou wilt not give thy Holy One to see corruption.

36 Pero David murió, después de haber hecho la voluntad de Dios a su tiempo, y fue sepultado con sus antepasados, y su cuerpo sufrió descomposición.

For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

37 El que Dios levantó de los muertos no sufrió descomposición.

but he whom God raised up saw no corruption.

38 “Hermanos míos, quiero que entiendan que lo que les estamos diciendo es que por medio de este hombre hay perdón de pecados.

Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins:

39 Por medio de él todo el que cree es justificado de todos sus errores, y de una manera que nunca podría ser posible mediante la ley de Moisés.

and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Asegúrense de que no les suceda lo que dijeron los profetas:

Beware therefore, lest that come upon [you], which is spoken in the prophets;

41 ‘¡Miren, burlones! ¡Asómbrense y desaparezcan! Estoy por hacer en estos días una obra que ustedes nunca creerán, aunque alguien se la explique’”.

Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish; For I work a work in your days, A work which ye shall in no wise believe, if one declare it unto you.

42 Y cuando salían, la gente les suplicaba que les explicaran más el siguiente sábado.

And as they went out, they besought that these words might be spoken to them the next sabbath.

43 Después de reunirse en la sinagoga, muchos de los judíos y conversos al judaísmo siguieron a Pablo y a Bernabé, quienes hablaban con ellos, animándolos a seguir firmes en la gracia de Dios.

Now when the synagogue broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.

44 El sábado siguiente casi toda la ciudad se presentó para escuchar la palabra de Dios.

And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God.

45 Sin embargo, cuando los judíos vieron las multitudes, se pusieron extremadamente furiosos, contradiciendo lo que Pablo decía y maldiciéndolo.

But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, and blasphemed.

46 Entonces Pablo y Bernabé hablaron con firmeza, diciendo: “Primero teníamos que predicarles la palabra de Dios a ustedes. Pero ahora que la han rechazado, ustedes están determinando que no son dignos de la vida eterna. Pues ahora predicaremos a los extranjeros. (aiōnios g166)

And Paul and Barnabas spake out boldly, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first be spoken to you. Seeing ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)

47 Porque eso es lo que el Señor nos ha mandado a hacer: ‘Yo los he convertido en luz para los extranjeros, y a través de ustedes la salvación llegará hasta los fines de la tierra’”.

For so hath the Lord commanded us, [saying], I have set thee for a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth.

48 Cuando los extranjeros escucharon esto, se alegraron en gran manera, alabando la palabra del Señor, y todos los elegidos para la vida eterna creyeron en Dios. (aiōnios g166)

And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (aiōnios g166)

49 Así que la palabra de Dios fue esparcida por toda la región.

And the word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region.

50 Pero los judíos incitaron a mujeres devotas e influyentes y también a líderes de la ciudad para perseguir a Pablo y a Bernabé, y los expulsaron de su territorio.

But the Jews urged on the devout women of honourable estate, and the chief men of the city, and stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and cast them out of their borders.

51 Entonces Pablo y Bernabé sacudieron el polvo de sus pies hacia ellos en señal de protesta, y se fueron a Iconio.

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

52 Y los creyentes seguían siendo llenos de gozo y del Espíritu Santo.

And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost.
