1 Timoteo 2
1 En primer lugar quiero animarte a orar por todos: haz peticiones y agradece en nombre de ellos.
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be offered for every one,
2 De este mismo modo ora por los reyes y por todo tipo de líderes, para que podamos tener una vida tranquila y pacífica, siempre pensando en Dios y tomando la vida con seriedad.
especially for kings and all who are in high positions, in order that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in a deeply religious and reverent spirit.
3 Esto es bueno, y es lo que agrada a Dios, nuestro Salvador.
This will be good and acceptable in the eyes of God, our Saviour,
4 Porque él desea que todos seamos salvos y comprendamos la verdad.
whose will is that every one should be saved, and attain to a full knowledge of the Truth.
5 Pues hay un Dios, y un mediador entre Dios y la humanidad, el hombre Cristo Jesús.
There is but one God, and one mediator between God and men — the man, Christ Jesus,
6 Él se entregó a fin de que todos pudiéramos ser rescatados nuevamente, demostrando la evidencia a su debido tiempo.
who gave himself as a ransom on behalf of all men. This must be our testimony, as opportunities present themselves;
7 Fui designado para compartir este mensaje y ser su mensajero, ser un maestro para los extranjeros sobre la fe en Dios y la verdad (no miento, digo la verdad).
and it was for this that I was myself appointed a Herald and an Apostle (I am telling the simple truth and no lie) — a Teacher of the Gentiles in the Faith and Truth.
8 Lo que realmente quiero es que los hombres en todas partes oren a Dios con sinceridad. ¡Sin enojos ni discusiones!
My desire, then, is that it should be the custom everywhere for the men to lead the prayers, with hands reverently uplifted, avoiding heated controversy.
9 Del mismo modo, las mujeres deben vestir con prudencia, con modestia y apropiadamente. Deben ser atractivas pero no por su corte de cabello o por el uso de oro, perlas o ropas costosas,
I also desire that women should adorn themselves with appropriate dress, worn quietly and modestly, and not with wreaths or gold ornaments for the hair, or pearls, or costly clothing,
10 sino por las cosas buenas que hacen, como es apropiado en las mujeres que dicen seguir a Dios.
but — as is proper for women who profess to be religious — with good actions.
11 Las mujeres deben aprender en silencio, respetando su lugar.
A woman should listen silently to her teachers, and show them all deference.
12 Yo no permito que las mujeres sean instructoras, o que dominen a los hombres; háganlas permanecer en silencio.
I do not consent to a woman’s becoming a teacher, or exercising authority over a man; she ought to be silent.
13 Pues Adán fue creado primero, y luego Eva.
Adam was formed first, not Eve.
14 Adán no fue engañado, pero Eva sí fue engañada por completo, y cayó en pecado.
And it was not Adam who was deceived; it was the woman who was entirely deceived and fell into sin.
15 No obstante, las mujeres serán salvadas por convertirse en madres, siempre y cuando sigan con fe y amor, y vivan vidas prudentes en santidad.
But women will find their salvation in motherhood, if they never abandon faith, love, or holiness, and behave with modesty.
