Rut 3
1 Le dijo Noemí, su suegra: “Hija mía, ¿no he de buscar para ti un lugar de reposo donde te vaya bien?
And Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 Ahora ese Booz, con cuyas criadas tú has estado, es pariente nuestro. Mira, esta noche avienta él la cebada en la era.
And now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens thou were? Behold, he winnows barley tonight in the threshing-floor.
3 Lávate, por tanto y úngete, y ponte tus vestidos y baja a la era; mas no te des a conocer al hombre hasta que haya acabado de comer y beber.
Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the threshing-floor. But do not make thyself known to the man until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 Y al acostarse él, nota bien el lugar donde se acuesta; luego irás, y le destaparás la parte de los pies, y te acostarás. Él te dirá entonces lo que has de hacer.”
And it shall be, when he lies down, that thou shall notice the place where he shall lie. And thou shall go in, and uncover his feet, and lie thee down. And he will tell thee what thou shall do.
5 Ella le respondió: “Haré todo lo que dices.”
And she said to her, All that thou say I will do.
6 Bajó a la era, e hizo todo lo que le había ordenado su suegra.
And she went down to the threshing-floor, and did according to all that her mother-in-law bade her.
7 Booz comió y bebió, y se alegró su corazón. Y cuando fue a acostarse al extremo de un montón de gavillas, se acercó ella calladamente, y destapándole la parte de los pies se acostó.
And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. And she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid down.
8 A media noche el hombre tuvo un gran susto, porque al darse vuelta, vio que una mujer estaba acostada a sus pies.
And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was startled, and turned himself, and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 Preguntó: “¿Quién eres?” Y ella contestó: “Soy Rut, tu sierva; extiende tu manto sobre tu sierva, porque tú tienes respecto de mí la obligación del levirato.”
And he said, Who are thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thy handmaid. Spread therefore thy skirt over thy handmaid, for thou are a near kinsman.
10 A lo que dijo él: “¡Bendita seas de Yahvé hija mía! Tu último acto de piedad es mejor que el primero, porque no andas tras los jóvenes, ni pobres, ni ricos.
And he said, Blessed be thou of Jehovah, my daughter. Thou have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou did not follow young men, whether poor or rich.
11 Ahora, hija mía, no temas. Yo haré por ti cuanto me digas; pues todos mis conciudadanos saben que eres una mujer virtuosa.
And now, my daughter, fear not. I will do to thee all that thou say, for all the city of my people know that thou are a worthy woman.
12 Mas ahora, aunque es cierto que tengo la obligación del levirato, sin embargo hay un pariente más cercano que yo.
And now it is true that I am a near kinsman. However there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 Pasa la noche, y si él mañana quiere cumplir con su deber de levirato, que lo haga; pero si él no lo hace, lo haré yo. ¡Vive Yahvé! Acuéstate hasta la mañana.”
Remain this night, and it shall be in the morning that if he will perform to thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part. But if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then I will do the part of a kinsman to thee, as Jehovah lives. Lie down until the morning.
14 Quedó ella acostada a sus pies hasta la mañana; y se levantó antes de poder distinguir un hombre a otro; porque él dijo: “Nadie sepa que esta mujer vino a la era.”
And she lay at his feet until the morning. And she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing-floor.
15 Y agregó: “Extiende el manto que traes sobre ti, y tenlo bien.” Ella lo tuvo bien, y él le midió seis (medidas) de cebada, que le cargó a cuestas, y ella se fue a la ciudad.
And he said, Bring the mantle that is upon thee, and hold it. And she held it, and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her, and he went into the city.
16 Cuando llegó a su suegra, esta preguntó: “¿Qué es lo que has alcanzado, hija mía?” Y Rut le contó todo lo que el hombre le había hecho.
And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who are thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17 Dijo también: “Me ha dado estas seis (medidas) de cebada, diciéndome: No vuelvas a tu suegra con las manos vacías.”
And she said, He gave me these six measures of barley, for he said, Go not empty to thy mother-in-law.
18 Dijo (la suegra): “Siéntate, hija mía, hasta que sepas en que va a parar este asunto; porque no descansará ese hombre hasta que lo haya acabado hoy mismo.”
Then she said, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall, for the man will not rest until he has finished the thing this day.
