Apocalipsis 18
1 Después de esto vi cómo bajaba del cielo otro ángel que tenía gran poder, y con su gloria se iluminó la tierra.
After these things I saw another angel coming down out of heaven, having great authority; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 Y clamó con gran voz diciendo: “Ha caído, ha caído Babilonia la grande, y ha venido a ser albergue de demonios y refugio de todo espíritu inmundo y refugio de toda ave impura y aborrecible.
And he cried with a mighty voice, saying, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and is become a habitation of devils, and a hold of every unclean spirit, and a hold of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 Porque del vino de su furiosa fornicación bebieron todas las naciones; con ella fornicaron los reyes de la tierra y con el poder de su lujo se enriquecieron los mercaderes de la tierra”.
For by the wine of the wrath of her fornication all the nations are fallen; and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth waxed rich by the power of her wantonness.
4 Oí otra voz venida del cielo que decía: “Salid de ella, pueblo mío, para no ser solidario de sus pecados y no participar en sus plagas;
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come forth, my people, out of her, that ye have no fellowship with her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues:
5 pues sus pecados se han acumulado hasta el cielo, y Dios se ha acordado de sus iniquidades.
for her sins have reached even unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Pagadle como ella ha pagado; retribuidle el doble conforme a sus obras; en la copa que mezcló, mezcladle doblado.
Render unto her even as she rendered, and double [unto her] the double according to her works: in the cup which she mingled, mingle unto her double.
7 Cuanto se glorificó a sí misma y vivió en lujo, otro tanto dadle de tormento de luto, porque ella dice en su corazón: “Como reina estoy sentada y no soy viuda y jamás veré duelo”.
How much soever she glorified herself, and waxed wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall in no wise see mourning.
8 Por tanto, en un solo día vendrán sus plagas: muerte y luto y hambre; y será abrasada en fuego, porque fuerte Señor es el Dios que la ha juzgado”.
Therefore in one day shall her plagues come, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God which judged her.
9 Al ver el humo de su incendio llorarán y se lamentarán sobre ella los reyes de la tierra, que con ella vivieron en la fornicación y en el lujo.
And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication and lived wantonly with her, shall weep and wail over her, when they look upon the smoke of her burning,
10 Manteniéndose lejos por miedo al tormento de ella, dirán: “¡Ay, ay de la ciudad grande de Babilonia, la ciudad poderosa, porque en una sola hora vino tu juicio!”
standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 También los traficantes de la tierra lloran y hacen luto sobre ella, porque nadie compra más sus cargamentos:
And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no man buyeth their merchandise any more;
12 cargamentos de oro, de plata, de piedras preciosas, de perlas, de fino lino, de púrpura, de seda y de escarlata, y toda clase de madera olorosa, toda suerte de objetos de marfil y todo utensilio de madera preciosísima, de bronce, de hierro y de mármol;
merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet; and all thyine wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble;
13 y canela, especies aromáticas, perfumes, mirra, incienso, vino y aceite, flor de harina y trigo, vacas y ovejas, caballos y carruajes, cuerpos y almas de hombres.
and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep; and [merchandise] of horses and chariots and slaves; and souls of men.
14 Los frutos que eran el deleite de tu alma se han apartado de ti; todas las cosas delicadas y espléndidas se acabaron para ti, y no serán halladas jamás.
And the fruits which thy soul lusted after are gone from thee, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous are perished from thee, and [men] shall find them no more at all.
15 Los mercaderes de estas cosas, que se enriquecieron a costa de ella, se pondrán a lo lejos, por miedo a su tormento, llorando y lamentándose,
The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning;
16 y dirán: “¡Ay, ay de la ciudad grande, que se vestía de finísimo lino, de púrpura y de escarlata, y se adornaba de oro, de pedrería y perlas;
saying, Woe, woe, the great city, she that was arrayed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearl!
17 porque en una sola hora fue devastada tanta riqueza!” Y todo piloto, y todos los que navegan de cabotaje, los marineros y cuantos explotan el mar se detuvieron lejos,
for in one hour so great riches is made desolate. And every shipmaster, and every one that saileth any whither, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood afar off,
18 y al ver el humo de su incendio dieron voces, diciendo: “¿Quién como esta ciudad tan grande?”
and cried out as they looked upon the smoke of her burning, saying, What [city] is like the great city?
19 Y arrojaron polvo sobre sus cabezas y gritaron, y llorando y lamentándose, dijeron: ¡Ay, ay de la ciudad grande, en la cual por su opulencia se enriquecieron todos los poseedores de naves en el mar! porque en una sola hora fue desolada”.
And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, wherein were made rich all that had their ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 ¡Alégrate sobre ella, oh cielo, y vosotros, los santos y los apóstoles y los profetas, pues juzgándola Dios os ha vengado de ella!
Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and ye apostles, and ye prophets; for God hath judged your judgment on her.
21 Y un ángel poderoso alzó una piedra grande como rueda de molino, y la arrojó al mar, diciendo: “Así, de golpe, será precipitada Babilonia, la ciudad grande, y no será hallada nunca más.
And a strong angel took up a stone as it were a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with a mighty fall shall Babylon, the great city, be cast down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 No se oirá más en ti voz de citaristas, ni de músicos, ni de tocadores de flauta y trompeta, ni en ti volverá a hallarse artífice de arte alguna, ni se escuchará más en ti ruido de molino.
And the voice of harpers and minstrels and flute-players and trumpeters shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft, shall be found any more at all in thee; and the voice of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 Luz de lámpara no brillará más en ti, ni se oirá en ti voz de novio y de novia, porque tus traficantes eran los magnates de la tierra, porque con tus hechicerías han sido embaucados todos los pueblos.
and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the princes of the earth; for with thy sorcery were all the nations deceived.
24 Y en ella fue encontrada sangre de profetas y de santos, y de todos los que fueron sacrificados sobre la tierra”.
And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all that have been slain upon the earth.
