Proverbios 3
1 Hijo mío, no te olvides de mi ley; guarda en tu corazón mis preceptos,
My son, forget not my teaching, and let thy heart keep my commandments;
2 porque te darán longevidad, (felices) años de vida y prosperidad.
For length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they increase unto thee.
3 ¡Que nunca la misericordia y la verdad se aparten de ti! Átalas a tu cuello, escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón.
Let kindness and truth not forsake thee; bind them about thy throat; write them upon the table of thy heart:
4 Así hallarás gracia y verdadera sabiduría a los ojos de Dios y a los ojos de los hombres.
So shalt thou find grace and good favor in the eyes of God and man.
5 Confía en el Señor con todo tu corazón y no te apoyes en tu propia inteligencia.
Trust in the Lord with all thy heart: and upon thy own understanding do not rely.
6 En todas tus empresas piensa en Él, y Él dirigirá tus caminos.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will make level thy paths.
7 No te creas sabio a tus ojos, teme a Dios, y huye del mal;
Be not wise in thy own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
8 será medicina para tu cuerpo, y refrigerio para tus huesos.
It will be healing to thy body, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honra a Dios con tu hacienda, y con las primicias de todos tus frutos;
Honor the Lord with thy wealth, and with the first-fruits of all thy products:
10 con eso se llenará de abundancia tus graneros, y tus lagares rebosarán de mosto.
So shall thy storehouses be filled with plenty, and with new wine shall thy presses overflow.
11 No deseches, hijo mío, la corrección de Yahvé, ni tengas aversión cuando Él te reprenda.
The correction of the Lord, my son, do not despise; and feel no loathing for his admonition;
12 Pues Yahvé castiga a aquel a quien ama, como un padre al hijo en quien se complace.
Because whomever the Lord loveth he admonisheth; and as a father who delighteth in [his] son.
13 ¡Dichoso el hombre que halló la sabiduría, el varón que ha adquirido la inteligencia!
Happy the man that hath found wisdom, and the man that acquireth understanding.
14 Mejor es su adquisición que la de la plata; y más preciosos que el oro son sus frutos.
For the obtaining of her is better than the obtaining of silver, and better than fine gold is her product.
15 Ella es más apreciable que las perlas; no hay cosa deseable que la iguale.
She is more precious than pearls; and all the things thou valuest are not equal unto her.
16 En su diestra (trae) larga vida, en su siniestra riquezas y honores.
Length of days is in her right hand: in her left are riches and honor.
17 Sus caminos son caminos deliciosos, y llenas de paz todas sus sendas.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
18 Es árbol de vida para los que echan mano de ella, y dichoso el que la tiene asida.
A tree of life is she to those that lay hold on her: and every one that firmly graspeth her will be made happy.
19 Por la sabiduría fundó Dios la tierra, y por la inteligencia estableció los cielos;
The Lord hath through wisdom founded the earth: he hath established the heavens through understanding.
20 por su ciencia fueron abiertos los abismos; y destilan las nubes rocío.
By his knowledge were the depths split open, and the skies drop down the dew.
21 Hijo mío, no se aparten ellas de tus ojos; guarda la sabiduría y la prudencia;
My son, let them not be removed from thy eyes; keep [before thee] sound wisdom and discretion:
22 pues serán vida para tu alma y adorno para tu cuello.
And they will be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy throat.
23 Así seguirás confiado tu camino, y no vacilará tu pie.
Then wilt thou walk in safety on thy way, and thy foot will not strike [against aught]:
24 Te acostarás sin temor; y si te acuestas, tu sueño será dulce.
When thou layest thyself down, thou shalt feel no dread; and as thou liest down, thy sleep shall be pleasant.
25 No tendrás que temer repentinos espantos, ni los ataques de los impíos cuando te acometieren;
Thou needest not to be afraid of sudden dread, neither of the [unlooked-for] tempest over the wicked, when it cometh.
26 porque Yahvé estará a tu lado, y preservará tu pie de quedar preso.
For the Lord will be thy confidence, and he will guard thy foot from being caught.
27 No niegues un beneficio al necesitado cuando esté a tu alcance el hacerlo.
Withhold not a benefit from him who is deserving it, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
28 No digas a tu prójimo: “Vete y vuelve, mañana te daré”, estando en tu poder el (atenderlo).
Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and return, and tomorrow will I give: when thou hast it by thee.
29 No maquines ningún mal contra tu prójimo mientras él vive tranquilamente contigo.
Contrive not against thy neighbor any evil, when he dwelleth in safety with thee.
30 Jamás pleitees con nadie sin motivo, si no te ha hecho mal.
Quarrel not with any man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.
31 No envidies al hombre violento, ni sigas sus senderos.
Envy not the man of violence, and choose none of his ways.
32 Porque Yahvé detesta al perverso, pero tiene trato íntimo con los justos.
For the froward is an abomination to the Lord; but with the upright is his good-will.
33 Sobre la casa del malvado pesa la maldición de Yahvé, el cual bendice la morada del justo.
The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked; but the habitation of the righteous will he bless.
34 Se burla de los burladores, y da su gracia a los humildes.
If [it concern] the scornful he will himself render them a scorn; but unto the lowly doth he give grace.
35 La gloria es la herencia de los sabios, en tanto que los necios se acarrean ignominia.
The wise shall inherit glory; but fools shall obtain disgrace as their portion.
