Proverbios 14
1 La mujer sabia edifica su casa, la necia con sus manos la derriba.
Every wise woman buildeth her house; but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
2 El que teme a Yahvé, va por el camino derecho, el que lo menosprecia, camina por sendas tortuosas.
He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD; but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth Him.
3 En la boca del necio está el azote de su orgullo; mas a los sabios les sirven de guarda sus labios.
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
4 Sin bueyes queda vacío el pesebre; en la mies abundante se muestra la fuerza del buey.
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
5 El testigo fiel no miente, el testigo falso, empero, profiere mentiras.
A faithful witness will not lie; but a false witness breatheth forth lies.
6 El mofador busca la sabiduría, y no da con ella; el varón sensato, en cambio, se instruye fácilmente.
A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; but knowledge is easy unto him that hath discernment.
7 Toma tú el rumbo opuesto al que sigue el necio, pues no encuentras en él palabras de sabiduría.
Go from the presence of a foolish man, for thou wilt not perceive the lips of knowledge.
8 La sabiduría del prudente está en conocer su camino, mas a los necios los engaña su necedad.
The wisdom of the prudent is to look well to his way; but the folly of fools is deceit.
9 El necio se ríe de la culpa; mas entre los justos mora la gracia.
Amends pleadeth for fools; but among the upright there is good will.
10 El corazón conoce sus propias amarguras, y en su alegría no puede participar ningún extraño.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness; and with its joy no stranger can intermeddle.
11 La casa de los impíos será arrasada, pero florecerá la morada de los justos.
The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 Caminos hay que a los ojos parecen rectos, mas en su remate está la muerte.
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
13 Aun en la risa siente el corazón su dolor, y la alegría termina en tristeza.
Even in laughter the heart acheth; and the end of mirth is heaviness.
14 De sus caminos se harta el insensato, como de sus frutos el hombre de bien.
The dissembler in heart shall have his fill from his own ways; and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
15 El simple cree cualquier cosa, el hombre cauto mira dónde pone su pie.
The thoughtless believeth every word; but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
16 El sabio es temeroso y se aparta del mal; el fatuo se arroja sin pensar nada.
A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; but the fool behaveth overbearingly, and is confident.
17 El que pronto se enoja comete locuras, y el malicioso será odiado.
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly; and a man of wicked devices is hated.
18 Los simples recibirán por herencia la necedad, mientras los juiciosos se coronan de sabiduría.
The thoughtless come into possession of folly; but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
19 Se postran los malos ante los buenos, y los impíos a las puertas de los justos.
The evil bow before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 El pobre es odioso aun a su propio amigo, el rico tiene numerosos amigos.
The poor is hated even of his own neighbour; but the rich hath many friends.
21 Peca quien menosprecia a su prójimo, bienaventurado el que se apiada de los pobres.
He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth; but he that is gracious unto the humble, happy is he.
22 ¡Cómo yerran los que maquinan el mal! ¡Y cuánta gracia y verdad obtienen los que obran el bien!
Shall they not go astray that devise evil? But mercy and truth shall be for them that devise good.
23 En todo trabajo hay fruto, mas el mucho hablar solo conduce a la miseria.
In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 Las riquezas pueden servir de corona para un sabio, mas la necedad de los necios es siempre necedad.
The crown of the wise is their riches; but the folly of fools remaineth folly.
25 El testigo veraz salva las vidas; pero el que profiere mentiras es un impostor.
A true witness delivereth souls; but he that breatheth forth lies is all deceit.
26 Del temor de Yahvé viene la confianza del fuerte, y sus hijos tendrán un refugio.
In the fear of the LORD a man hath strong confidence; and his children shall have a place of refuge.
27 El temor de Yahvé es fuente de vida para escapar de los lazos de la muerte.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
28 La gloria del rey está en el gran número de su pueblo; la escasez de gente es la ruina del príncipe.
In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the want of people is the ruin of the prince.
29 El tardo en airarse es rico en prudencia, el impaciente pone de manifiesto su necedad.
He that is slow to anger is of great understanding; but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 Un corazón tranquilo es vida del cuerpo, carcoma de los huesos es la envidia.
A tranquil heart is the life of the flesh; but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
31 Quien oprime al pobre ultraja a su Creador, mas le honra aquel que del necesitado se compadece.
He that oppresseth the poor blasphemeth his Maker; but he that is gracious unto the needy honoureth Him.
32 Al malvado le pierde su propia malicia; el justo, al contrario, tiene esperanza cuando muere.
The wicked is thrust down in his misfortune; but the righteous, even when he is brought to death, hath hope.
33 En el corazón del prudente mora la sabiduría; incluso los ignorantes la reconocerán.
In the heart of him that hath discernment wisdom resteth; but in the inward part of fools it maketh itself known.
34 La justicia enaltece a un pueblo; el pecado es el oprobio de las naciones.
Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.
35 El ministro sabio es para el rey objeto de favor, el inepto, objeto de ira.
The king's favour is toward a servant that dealeth wisely; but his wrath striketh him that dealeth shamefully.
