San Lucas 23
1 Entonces, levantándose toda la asamblea, lo llevaron a Pilato;
And the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate.
2 y comenzaron a acusarlo, diciendo: “Hemos hallado a este hombre soliviantando a nuestra nación, impidiendo que se dé tributo al César y diciendo ser el Cristo Rey”.
And they began to accuse him, saying: We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ the king.
3 Pilato lo interrogó y dijo: “¿Eres Tú el rey de los judíos?” Respondiole y dijo: “Tú lo dices”.
And Pilate asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, said: Thou sayest it.
4 Pilato dijo a los sumos sacerdotes y a las turbas: “No hallo culpa en este hombre”.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.
5 Pero aquellos insistían con fuerza, diciendo: “Él subleva al pueblo enseñando por toda la Judea, comenzando desde Galilea, hasta aquí”.
But they were more earnest, saying: He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 A estas palabras, Pilato preguntó si ese hombre era galileo.
But Pilate hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee?
7 Y cuando supo que era de la jurisdicción de Herodes, lo remitió a Herodes, que se encontraba también en Jerusalén, en aquellos días.
And when he understood that he was of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was also himself at Jerusalem, in those days.
8 Herodes, al ver a Jesús, se alegró mucho, porque hacía largo tiempo que deseaba verlo por lo que oía decir de Él, y esperaba verle hacer algún milagro.
And Herod, seeing Jesus, was very glad; for he was desirous of a long time to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him.
9 Lo interrogó con derroche de palabras, pero Él no le respondió nada.
And he questioned him in many words. But he answered him nothing.
10 Entretanto, los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas estaban allí, acusándolo sin tregua.
And the chief priests and the scribes stood by, earnestly accusing him.
11 Herodes lo despreció, lo mismo que sus soldados; burlándose de Él, púsole un vestido resplandeciente y lo envió de nuevo a Pilato.
And Herod with his army set him at nought, and mocked him, putting on him a white garment, and sent him back to Pilate.
12 Y he aquí que en aquel día se hicieron amigos Herodes y Pilato, que antes eran enemigos.
And Herod and Pilate were made friends, that same day; for before they were enemies one to another.
13 Convocó, entonces, Pilato a los sumos sacerdotes, a los magistrados y al pueblo,
And Pilate, calling together the chief priests, and the magistrates, and the people,
14 y les dijo: “Habéis entregado a mi jurisdicción este hombre como que andaba sublevando al pueblo. He efectuado el interrogatorio delante vosotros y no he encontrado en Él nada de culpable, en las cosas de que lo acusáis.
Said to them: You have presented unto me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold I, having examined him before you, find no cause in this man, in those things wherein you accuse him.
15 Ni Herodes tampoco, puesto que nos lo ha devuelto; ya lo veis, no ha hecho nada que merezca muerte.
No, nor Herod neither. For I sent you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done to him.
16 Por tanto, lo mandaré castigar y lo dejaré en libertad.
I will chastise him therefore, and release him.
17 [Ahora bien, debía él en cada fiesta ponerles a uno en libertad].
Now of necessity he was to release unto them one upon the feast day.
18 Y gritaron todos a una: “Quítanos a este y suéltanos a Barrabás”.
But the whole multitude together cried out, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 Barrabás había sido encarcelado a causa de una sedición en la ciudad y por homicidio.
Who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for a murder, was cast into prison.
20 De nuevo Pilato les dirigió la palabra, en su deseo de soltar a Jesús.
And Pilate again spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.
21 Pero ellos gritaron más fuerte, diciendo: “¡Crucifícalo, crucifícalo!”
But they cried again, saying: Crucify him, crucify him.
22 Y por tercera vez les dijo: “¿Pero qué mal ha hecho este? Yo nada he encontrado en él que merezca muerte. Lo pondré, pues, en libertad, después de castigarlo”.
And he said to them the third time: Why, what evil hath this man done? I find no cause of death in him. I will chastise him therefore, and let him go.
23 Pero ellos insistían a grandes voces, exigiendo que Él fuera crucificado, y sus voces se hacían cada vez más fuertes.
But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified; and their voices prevailed.
24 Entonces Pilato decidió que se hiciese según su petición.
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 Y dejó libre al que ellos pedían, que había sido encarcelado por sedición y homicidio, y entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos.
And he released unto them him who for murder and sedition, had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 Cuando lo llevaban, echaron mano a un cierto Simón de Cirene, que venía del campo, obligándole a ir sustentando la cruz detrás de Jesús.
And as they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus.
27 Lo acompañaba una gran muchedumbre del pueblo, y de mujeres que se lamentaban y lloraban sobre Él.
And there followed him a great multitude of people, and of women, who bewailed and lamented him.
28 Mas Jesús, volviéndose hacia ellas, les dijo: “Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloréis por Mí, sino llorad por vosotras mismas y por vuestros hijos,
But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 porque vienen días, en que se dirá: ¡Felices las estériles y las entrañas que no engendraron, y los pechos que no amamantaron!
For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck.
30 Entonces se pondrán a decir a las montañas: «Caed sobre nosotros, y a las colinas: ocultadnos».
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us; and to the hills: Cover us.
31 Porque si esto hacen con el leño verde, ¿qué será del seco?”.
For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?
32 Conducían también a otros dos malhechores con Él para ser suspendidos.
And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death.
33 Cuando hubieron llegado al lugar llamado del Cráneo, allí crucificaron a Él, y a los malhechores, uno a su derecha, y el otro a su izquierda.
And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified him there; and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Y Jesús decía: “Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen”. Entretanto, hacían porciones de sus ropas y echaron suertes.
And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.
35 Y el pueblo estaba en pie mirándolo, mas los magistrados lo zaherían, diciendo: “A otros salvó; que se salve a sí mismo, si es el Cristo de Dios, el predilecto”.
And the people stood beholding, and the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God.
36 También se burlaron de Él los soldados, acercándose, ofreciéndole vinagre y diciendo:
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 “Si Tú eres el rey de los judíos, sálvate a Ti mismo”.
And saying: If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 Había, empero, una inscripción sobre Él, en caracteres griegos, romanos y hebreos: “El rey de los judíos es Este”.
And there was also a superscription written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Uno de los malhechores suspendidos, blasfemaba de Él, diciendo: “¿No eres acaso Tú el Cristo? Sálvate a Ti mismo, y a nosotros”.
And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 Contestando el otro lo reprendía y decía: “¿Ni aún temes tú a Dios, estando en pleno suplicio?
But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing thou art condemned under the same condemnation?
41 Y nosotros, con justicia; porque recibimos lo merecido por lo que hemos hecho; pero Este no hizo nada malo”.
And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done no evil.
42 Y dijo: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí, cuando vengas en tu reino”.
And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.
43 Le respondió: “En verdad, te digo, hoy estarás conmigo en el Paraíso”.
And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise.
44 Era ya alrededor de la hora sexta, cuando una tiniebla se hizo sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora nona,
And it was almost the sixth hour; and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 eclipsándose el sol; y el velo del templo se rasgó por el medio.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 Y Jesús clamó con gran voz: “Padre, en tus manos entrego mi espíritu”. Y, dicho esto, expiró.
And Jesus crying out with a loud voice, said: Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. And saying this, he gave up the ghost.
47 El centurión, al ver lo ocurrido, dio gloria a Dios, diciendo: “¡Verdaderamente, este hombre era un justo!”
Now the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.
48 Y todas las turbas reunidas para este espectáculo, habiendo contemplado las cosas que pasaban, se volvían golpeándose los pechos.
And all the multitude of them that were come together to that sight, and saw the things that were done, returned striking their breasts.
49 Mas todos sus conocidos estaban a lo lejos —y también las mujeres que lo habían seguido desde Galilea— mirando estas cosas.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that had followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 Y había un varón llamado José, que era miembro del Sanhedrín, hombre bueno y justo
And behold there was a man named Joseph, who was a counsellor, a good and just man,
51 —que no había dado su asentimiento, ni a la resolución de ellos ni al procedimiento que usaron—, oriundo de Arimatea, ciudad de los judíos, el cual estaba a la espera del reino de Dios.
(The same had not consented to their counsel and doings; ) of Arimathea, a city of Judea; who also himself looked for the kingdom of God.
52 Este fue a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús.
This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 Y habiéndolo bajado, lo envolvió en una mortaja y lo depositó en un sepulcro tallado en la roca, donde ninguno había sido puesto.
And taking him down, he wrapped him in fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewed in stone, wherein never yet any man had been laid.
54 Era el día de la Preparación, y comenzaba ya el sábado.
And it was the day of the Parasceve, and the sabbath drew on.
55 Las mujeres venidas con Él de Galilea, acompañaron ( a José ) y observaron el sepulcro y la manera cómo fue sepultado Su cuerpo.
And the women that were come with him from Galilee, following after, saw the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 Y de vuelta, prepararon aromas y ungüento. Durante el sábado se estuvieron en reposo, conforme al precepto.
And returning, they prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath day they rested, according to the commandment.
