Jueces 21
1 Ahora bien, en Masfá los hombres de Israel habían hecho este juramento: “Nadie de nosotros dará su hija por mujer a uno de Benjamín.”
Also the sones of Israel sworen in Maspha, and seiden, Noon of vs schal yyue to the sones of Beniamyn a wijf of his douytris.
2 Y vino el pueblo a Betel, y sentados allí hasta la tarde delante de Dios alzaron la voz y lloraron con grandes alaridos.
And `alle camen to the hows of God in Silo, and thei saten in the `siyt of hym `til to euentid, and thei reisiden the vois, and bigunnen to wepe with greet yellyng,
3 Decían: “¿Por qué, oh Yahvé, Dios de Israel, ha acontecido esto en Israel, que falte hoy una tribu en Israel?”
and seiden, Lord God of Israel, whi is this yuel don in thi puple, that to dai o lynage be takun awey of vs?
4 Al día siguiente, se levantó el pueblo muy temprano; edificaron allí un altar, donde ofrecieron holocaustos y sacrificios pacíficos.
Sotheli in the tother day thei risiden eerli, and bildyden an auter, and offriden there brent sacrifices and pesible sacrifices, and seiden,
5 Y los hijos de Israel dijeron: “¿Quién hay de entre todas las tribus de Israel, que no haya subido a la asamblea de Yahvé? Porque habían hecho un gran juramento contra aquel que no subiere a Yahvé a Masfá, diciendo: “¡Morirá sin remedio!”
Who of alle the lynagis of Israel stiede not in to the oost of the Lord? For whanne thei weren in Maspha, thei `hadden bounde hem silf with a greuouse ooth, that thei that failiden schulden be slayn.
6 Mas ahora los hijos de Israel compadecidos de Benjamín, su hermano, dijeron: “Ha sido cortada hoy una tribu de Israel.
And the sones of Israel weren led bi penaunce on her brother Beniamyn, and bigunnen to seie, O lynage of Israel is takun awey;
7 ¿Qué haremos para dar mujeres a los que quedan, puesto que hemos jurado por Yahvé no darles por mujeres nuestras hijas?”
wherof schulen thei take wyues? for alle we sworen in comyn, that we schulen not yyue oure douytris to hem.
8 Preguntaron pues: “¿Quién hay de entre todas las tribus de Israel que no haya subido a Yahvé a Masfá?” Y he aquí que de Jabés-Galaad nadie había venido al campamento, a la asamblea.
Therfor thei seiden, Who is of alle the lynagis of Israel, that stiede not to the Lord in Maspha? And lo! the dwelleris of Jabes of Galaad weren foundun, that thei weren not in the oost.
9 E hicieron un recuento del pueblo y resultó que no se hallaba allí hombre alguno de los habitantes de Jabés-Galaad.
Also in that tyme, whanne thei weren in Silo, noon of hem was foundun there.
10 Por lo cual la asamblea envió allá doce mil hombres de entre los valientes, y les dio esta orden: “Andad y pasad a filo de espada a los habitantes de Jabés-Galaad, también a las mujeres y a los niños.
Therfor thei senten ten thousynde strongeste men, and comaundiden to hem, Go ye, and smyte the dwelleris of Jabes of Galaad bi the scharpnesse of swerd, as wel the wyues as `the litle children of hem.
11 Esto es lo que habéis de hacer: Ejecutaréis el anatema en todo varón, y en toda mujer que haya conocido varón.”
And this thing schal be, which ye `owen to kepe, sle ye alle of male kynde, and the wymmen, that knewen men fleischli; reserue ye the virgyns.
12 Y hallaron entre los habitantes de Jabés-Galaad cuatrocientas doncellas vírgenes que no habían conocido varón; y las trajeron al campamento de Silo, que está en el país de Canaán.
And foure hundrid virgyns, that knewen not the bed of man, weren foundun of Jabes of Galaad; and thei brouyten hem to the castels in Silo, in to the lond of Chanaan.
13 Entonces toda la asamblea mandó mensajeros que hablaran con los hijos de Benjamín que estaban en la peña de Remmón, y les anunciasen la paz.
And `thei senten messangeris to the sones of Beniamyn, that weren in the stoon of Remmon; and thei comaundiden to hem, that thei schulden resseyue tho wymmen in pees.
14 Volvieron en aquel tiempo los benjaminitas y les dieron por mujeres a aquellas de las mujeres de Jabés-Galaad a quienes habían perdonado la vida; mas no hallaron así el número suficiente para ellos.
And the sones of Beniamyn camen in that tyme, and the douytris of Jabes of Galaad weren youun to hem to wyues; forsothe thei founden not othere wymmen, whiche thei schulden yyue in lijk maner.
15 El pueblo tuvo gran pesar a causa de Benjamín, por cuanto Yahvé había abierto una brecha en las tribus de Israel.
And al Israel sorewide greetly, and dide penaunce on the sleyng of o lynage of Israel.
16 Dijeron los ancianos de la asamblea: “¿Qué haremos a fin de dar mujeres a los que quedan? porque han sido extirpadas las mujeres de Benjamín.”
And the grettere men in birthe seiden, What schulen we do to the othere men, that han not take wyues? Alle the wymmen in Beniamyn felden doun,
17 Y declararon: “Debe haber una herencia para los que han escapado de Benjamín; no sea borrada una tribu de en medio de Israel.
and it `is to vs to puruey `with greet cure and greet studie, that o lynage be not don awey fro Israel.
18 Nosotros, empero, no podemos darles por mujeres nuestras hijas.” Pues habían jurado los hijos de Israel, diciendo: “¡Maldito aquel que de mujer a los de Benjamín!”

19 Y dijeron: “He aquí, que todos los años se celebra la fiesta de Yahvé en Silo, situada al norte de Betel, al oriente del camino que sube de Betel a Siquem, y al sur de Leboná.”
And thei token a counsel, and seiden, Lo! annyuersarie solempnyte of the Lord is in Silo, whych is set at the north of the citee of Bethel, and at the eest coost of the weie that goith from Bethel to Siccyma, and at the south of the citee of Lebona.
20 Por lo cual dieron a los hijos de Benjamín esta orden: “Id y poneos en emboscada en las viñas;
And thei comaundiden to the sones of Beniamyn, and seiden, Go ye, be ye hid in the vyneris;
21 y cuando veáis salir a las hijas de Silo a bailar en coro, salid de las viñas, y tomaos cada uno una mujer de las hijas de Silo, y llevadlas a tierra de Benjamín.
and whanne ye seen douytris of Silo go forth bi custom to lede daunsis, go ye out of the vyneris sudeynli, and rauysche ye hem, eche man o wijf, and go ye in to the lond of Beniamyn.
22 Y cuando los padres de ellas, o sus hermanos vengan para reclamárnoslas, les diremos: «Regaládnoslas a nosotros; pues no hemos podido tomar para cada cual una mujer en la guerra; y vosotros no se las habéis dado, pues en este caso os habríais hecho culpables».”
And whanne the fadris and britheren of hem schulen come, and bigynne to pleyne and plete ayens you, we schulen seie to hem, Haue ye mercy of hem; for thei rauyschiden not hem bi riyt of fiyteris and ouercomeris, but ye `yauen not to hem preiynge that thei schulden take; and the synne is of youre part.
23 Los hijos de Benjamín hicieron así; se llevaron mujeres según el número de ellos, de entre las que danzaban. Las arrebataron y se fueron. Y volvieron a su herencia, reedificaron las ciudades y habitaron en ellas.
And the sones of Beniamyn diden as it was comaundid to hem, and bi her noumbre thei rauyschiden wyues to hem, ech man o wijf, of hem that ledden daunsis. And thei yeden in to her possessioun, and bildiden citees, and dwelliden in tho.
24 Regresaron entonces de allí los hijos de Israel, cada uno a su tribu y a su familia. Volvieron de allí cada uno a su herencia. En aquellos días no había rey en Israel; cada cual hacía lo que mejor le parecía.
And the sones of Israel turneden ayen, bi lynagis and meynees, in to her tabernaclis.
In tho dayes was no kyng in Israel, but ech man dide this, that semyde ryytful to hym silf.
