Josué 5

1 Todos los reyes de los amorreos que habitaban a la otra parte del Jordán, hacia el occidente, y todos los reyes de los cananeos que habitaban junto al mar, cuando oyeron que Yahvé había secado las aguas del Jordán delante de los hijos de Israel hasta que hubieron pasado, se desmayaron en su corazón y ya no quedó en ellos aliento, por miedo a los hijos de Israel.

Now when all the kings of the Amorrhites, who dwelt beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of Chanaan, who possessed the places near the great sea, had heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan before the children of Israel, till they passed over, their heart failed them, and there remained no spirit in them, fearing the coming in of the children of Israel.

2 En aquel tiempo dijo Yahvé a Josué: “Hazte cuchillos de piedra y vuelve a circuncidar a los hijos de Israel por segunda vez.”

At that time the Lord said to Josue: Make thee knives of stone, and circumcise the second time the children of Israel.

3 Hízose Josué cuchillos de piedra y circuncidó a los hijos de Israel en el collado de Aralot.

He did what the Lord had commanded, and he circumcised the children of Israel in the hill of the foreskins.

4 He aquí la causa porque Josué los circuncidó: Todo el pueblo que había salido de Egipto, los varones, todos los hombres de guerra, habían muerto en el desierto, en el camino, cuando salieron de Egipto.

Now this is the cause of the second circumcision: All the people that came out of Egypt that were males, all the men fit for war, died in the desert, during the time of the long going about in the way.

5 Todo ese pueblo que salió (de Egipto) había sido circuncidado; pero no lo estaba ninguno del pueblo nacido en el desierto, en el camino, después de la salida de Egipto.

Now these were all circumcised. But the people that were born in the desert,

6 Porque los hijos de Israel anduvieron cuarenta años por el desierto, hasta perecer todo el pueblo, los hombres de guerra salidos de Egipto, por no haber obedecido la voz de Yahvé. A ellos Yahvé les juró que no les dejaría ver la tierra que con juramento había prometido a sus padres que nos la daría, tierra que mana leche y miel.

Luring the forty years of the journey in the wide wilderness, were uncircumcised: till all they were consumed that had not heard the voice of the Lord, and to whom he had sworn before, that he would not shew them the land flowing with milk and honey.

7 A los hijos de aquellos que Él había suscitado en su lugar, los circuncidó Josué, porque eran incircuncisos; pues no los habían circuncidado en el camino.

The children of these succeeded in the place of their fathers, and were circumcised by Josue: for they were uncircumcised even as they were born, and no one had circumcised them in the way.

8 Después que todo el pueblo fue circuncidado, se quedaron en su lugar, dentro del campamento, hasta que sanaron.

Now after they were all circumcised, they remained in the same place of the camp, until they were healed.

9 Dijo entonces Yahvé a Josué: “Hoy he quitado de sobre vosotros el oprobio de Egipto.” Y se llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Gálgala hasta el día de hoy.

And the Lord said to Josue: This day have I taken away from you the reproach of Egypt. And the name of that place was called Galgal, until this present day.

10 Acamparon los hijos de Israel en Gálgala y celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes, por la tarde, en la llanura de Jericó.

And the children of Israel abode in Galgal, and they kept the phase on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the plains of Jericho:

11 Y comieron de los productos del país desde el día siguiente a la Pascua; en aquel mismo día (comieron) panes ácimos y trigo tostado.

And they ate on the next day unleavened bread of the corn of the land, and frumenty of the same year.

12 Al día siguiente de comer de los productos del país, cesó el maná, y en adelante los hijos de Israel ya no tuvieron el maná, sino que comieron en aquel año de los frutos del país de Canaán.

And the manna ceased after they ate of the corn of the land, neither did the children of Israel use that food any more, but they ate of the corn of the present year of the land of Chanaan.

13 Estando Josué cerca de Jericó, alzó los ojos y miró; y he aquí que estaba en pie delante de él un hombre con la espada desenvainada en la mano. Se le acercó Josué y le preguntó: “¿Eres tú de los nuestros, o de nuestros enemigos?”

And when Josue was in the field of the city of Jericho, he lifted up his eyes, and saw a man standing over against him: holding a drawn sword, and he went to him, and said: Art thou one of ours, or of our adversaries?

14 Él respondió: “No, sino que soy el príncipe del ejército de Yahvé, que acabo de llegar.” Entonces Josué cayó en tierra sobre su rostro, y adoró. Y le preguntó: “¿Qué dice mi Señor a su siervo?”

And he answered: No: but I am prince of the host of the Lord, and now I am come. Josue fell on his face to the ground. And worshipping, add: What saith my lord to his servant?

15 El príncipe del ejército de Yahvé dijo a Josué: “Quítate el calzado de los pies, porque el lugar donde estás es santo.” Y Josué lo hizo así.

Loose, saith he, thy shoes from off thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Josue did as was commanded him.
