Jonás 2
1 Desde las entrañas del pez oró Jonás a Yahvé, y dijo:
Then Jonah prayed to Jehovah from the belly of the fish,
2 “Clamé a Yahvé en mi angustia, y Él me oyó; desde el vientre del scheol pedí auxilio, y Tú has atendido a mi voz. (Sheol h7585)
and said: — I cried by reason of my distress to Jehovah, And he heard me: Out of the depth of the under-world I cried, And thou didst hear my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Me arrojaste a lo más profundo, al seno de los mares; me circundaron aguas torrenciales, todas tus olas y ondas pasaron sobre mí.
Thou didst cast me into the deep, into the heart of the sea, And the flood compassed me about; All thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 Entonces dije: «Desterrado he sido de delante de tus ojos, pero volveré a contemplar tu santo Templo».
And I said, “I am cast out from before thine eyes; Yet I will look again to thy holy temple!”
5 Las aguas me han encerrado hasta el alma, me rodea el abismo y los juncos han enredado mi cabeza.
The waters compassed me about, even to the life, The deep enclosed me round about; Sea-weeds were bound around my head;
6 He descendido hasta las raíces de las montañas; los cerrojos de la tierra me encerraron para siempre; pero Tú sacaste mi vida desde la fosa, Yahvé, Dios mío.
I sank down to the foundations of the mountains; The bars of the earth were about me forever; Yet hast thou brought up my life from the pit, O Jehovah, my God!
7 Cuando mi alma desfallecía dentro de mí, me acordé de Yahvé; y llegó mi plegaria a tu presencia en el templo santo tuyo.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered Jehovah, And my prayer came to thee, To thy holy temple.
8 Los que van tras las mentirosas vanidades abandonan su misericordia.
They that honor lying vanities forsake their mercy;
9 Mas yo te ofreceré sacrificios con cánticos de alabanza; cumpliré los votos que he hecho, pues de Yahvé viene la salvación.”
But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed; Salvation is from Jehovah.
10 Entonces Yahvé dio orden al pez, y este vomitó a Jonás en tierra.
And Jehovah commanded the fish, and it cast out Jonah upon the dry land.
