Job 8
1 Entonces tomó la palabra Baldad suhita y dijo:
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2 “¿Hasta cuándo hablarás de este modo y serán las palabras de tu boca cual viento tempestuoso?
How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3 ¿Acaso Dios tuerce el derecho, o pervierte el Omnipotente la justicia?
Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
4 Si tus hijos contra Él pecaron, Él los ha castigado ya a causa de sus transgresiones.
As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
5 Pero tú, si buscas solícito a Dios, e imploras al Todopoderoso,
But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
6 y eres puro y recto, al punto Él velará sobre ti, y prosperará la morada de tu justicia.
If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
7 Tu anterior estado será poca cosa, pues tu porvenir será muy grande.
So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
8 Pregunta, si quieres, a las generaciones pasadas, respeta la experiencia de los padres;
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
9 pues de ayer somos y nada sabemos, y nuestros días sobre la tierra pasan como la sombra.
(For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
10 Ellos te instruirán, ellos hablarán contigo, y de su corazón sacarán estas palabras:
Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
11 ¿Puede crecer el papiro sin humedad, el junco elevarse sin agua?
“Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
12 Estando aún en flor, y sin ser cortado se seca antes que cualquier otra hierba.
While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
13 Así será el fin de todos los que se olvidan de Dios; se desvanecerá la esperanza del impío;
Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
14 su seguridad le será cortada, y su confianza va a ser como telaraña.
His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
15 Se apoya sobre su casa, mas esta no se mantiene, se aferra a ella y no resiste.
He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
16 Está en su lozanía ante el sol, sus renuevos exceden de su huerto,
He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
17 sus raíces se entrelazan sobre el montón de piedras, hundiéndose hasta donde está la roca;
His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
18 mas cuando se lo arranca de su lugar, este lo desconoce (diciendo): «Nunca te he visto.»
When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
19 No es otro el gozo que está al fin de su camino, y de su polvo nacerán otros.
Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
20 He aquí que Dios no desecha al justo, ni da la mano a los malvados.
Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
21 Algún día rebosará de risa tu boca, y tus labios de júbilo.
While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
22 Los que te aborrecen se cubrirán de ignominia, y la tienda de los impíos dejará de existir.”
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
