Job 32
1 Desistieron aquellos tres hombres de responder a Job; porque este estaba convencido de su inocencia.
And his three friends also ceased any longer to answer Job: for Job was righteous before them.
2 Entonces montó en cólera Eliú, hijo de Baraquel bucita, de la familia de Ram. Montó en cólera contra Job, porque pretendía ser más justo que Dios.
Then Elius the son of Barachiel, the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, of the country of Ausis, was angered: and he was very angry with Job, because he justified himself before the Lord.
3 Se irritó también contra sus tres amigos, por cuanto no habían hallado qué contestar a Job, y con todo lo condenaban.
And he was also very angry with [his] three friends, because they were not able to return answers to Job, yet set him down for an ungodly man.
4 Siendo ellos de mayor edad que él, Eliú había tardado en contestar a Job.
But Elius had forborne to give an answer to Job, because they were older than he.
5 Mas cuando vio que no había más respuesta en la boca de aquellos tres hombres, se indignó sobremanera. Tomó Eliú, hijo de Baraquel, bucita, la palabra y dijo:
And Elius saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men; and he was angered in his wrath.
6 “Siendo yo joven, y vosotros ancianos, tuve miedo, y no me atreví a manifestar mi parecer.
And Elius the Buzite the son of Barachiel answered and said, I am younger in age, and you are elder, therefore I kept silence, fearing to declare to you my own knowledge.
7 Yo me decía: Los días han de hablar, y en los muchos años se dará a conocer la sabiduría.
And I said, It is not time that speaks, though in many years [men] know wisdom:
8 Pero hay espíritu que reside en el hombre; es el soplo del Todopoderoso el que les da la inteligencia.
but there is a spirit in mortals; and the inspiration of the Almighty is that which teaches.
9 No es lo mismo ser viejo que sabio, no son (siempre) los ancianos los que entienden de justicia.
The long-lived are not wise [as such]; neither do the aged know judgment.
10 Por eso dije: Escuchadme; quiero también yo manifestar mi parecer.
Therefore I said, Hear me, and I will tell you what I know.
11 He aquí que he esperado mientras hablabais, di oídos a vuestros razonamientos hasta el fin de vuestra disputa.
Listen to my words; for I will speak in your hearing, until you shall have tried [the matter] with words:
12 Sí, os he prestado atención, más ninguno ha convencido a Job; ninguno de vosotros sabe responder a sus palabras.
and I shall understand as far as you; and, behold, there was no one of you that answered Job his words in argument,
13 No digáis, pues: «Hemos hallado la sabiduría; es Dios quien le castiga, y no hombre alguno.»
lest you should say, We have found that we have added wisdom to the Lord.
14 No contra mí ha dirigido él sus palabras; y yo no voy a contestarle con vuestros argumentos.
And you have commissioned a man to speak such words.
15 Desconcertados ya no responden nada, faltándoles otras palabras.
They were afraid, they answered no longer; they gave up their speaking.
16 He esperado hasta que se callasen, hasta que quedasen atascados sin poder contestar.
I waited, (for I had not spoken, ) because they stood still, they answered not.
17 Comenzaré yo a hablar, manifestaré por mi parte mi saber.
And Elius continued, and said, I will again speak,
18 Pues lleno estoy de palabras, me aprieta el espíritu en mi interior.
for I am full of words, for the spirit of my belly destroys me.
19 Mi pecho es como vino encerrado, cual odre nuevo pronto a reventar.
And my belly is as a skin of sweet wine, bound up [and] ready to burst; or as a brazier's laboring bellows.
20 Hablaré para desahogarme; abriré mis labios y responderé.
I will speak, that I may open my lips and relieve myself.
21 No haré acepción de personas, no adularé a ningún mortal.
For truly I will not be awed because of man, nor indeed will I be confounded before a mortal.
22 Pues no sé adular; (si lo hiciera), dentro de poco me llevaría mi Creador.”
For I know not how to respect persons: and if otherwise, even the moths would eat me.
