Job 11
1 Entonces Sofar naamatita tomó la palabra y dijo:
But Zophar the Naamathite, responding, said:
2 “¿Acaso no hay que contestar al que vomita palabras? ¿el hombre verboso ha de tener razón?
Will he who speaks much, not also listen? Or will a talkative man be justified?
3 ¿Tu palabrería hará callar a los hombres? y cuanto te burlas, ¿no habrá quien te confunda?
Will men be silent only for you? And when you have mocked others, will no one refute you?
4 Tú has dicho: “Mi doctrina es pura, y limpio estoy ante tus ojos.”
For you said: “My word is pure, and I am clean in your sight.”
5 ¡Ojalá que hablase Dios y abriera sus labios contra ti,
Yet I wish that God would speak with you, and would open his lips to you,
6 para descubrirte los arcanos de la sabiduría! —pues son muy diversos sus designios— entonces verías que Dios castiga solamente una parte de tu culpa.
so that he might reveal to you the secrets of wisdom, and how intricate his law is, and that you would understand how much less he requires of you than your iniquity deserves.
7 ¿Pretendes acaso penetrar en las profundidades de Dios, hasta la perfección del Omnipotente?
By chance, will you comprehend the footsteps of God and reach all the way to the perfection of the Almighty?
8 Es más alta que el cielo, ¿qué podrás hacer? más honda que el scheol, ¿cómo podrás conocerlo? (Sheol h7585)
He is higher than heaven, and what will you do? He is deeper than hell, but how will you know? (Sheol h7585)
9 más extensa que la tierra, y más ancha que el mar.
His measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea.
10 Si Él acomete, cerrando el paso, y llama a juicio, ¿quién podrá disuadírselo?
If he overturns all things, or packs them together, who will contradict him?
11 Porque Él conoce a los perversos, y ve la iniquidad, aunque parece disimularla.
For he knows the vanity of men, and when he sees iniquity, does he not evaluate it?
12 ¿Puede acaso el necio pasar por inteligente, el pollino del asno montés por hombre?
A vain man is lifted up in arrogance, and he thinks that he is born free like a wild ass’s colt.
13 Si tú dispones tu corazón, y levantas hacia Él tus manos,
But you have fortified your heart and extended your hands to him.
14 si alejas la iniquidad que hay en tus manos, y no permites a la maldad que habite bajo tu tienda,
If you would send away from you the iniquity that is in your hand, and not let injustice remain in your tabernacle,
15 entonces alzarás tu rostro sin mácula, te sentirás seguro, y nada temerás;
then you would be able to lift up your face without blemish, and you would be steadfast and unafraid.
16 te olvidarás de los dolores, y si de ellos te acuerdas es como de aguas que pasaron.
Misery, likewise, you would forget, or would remember only like waters that have passed by.
17 Entonces tu vida surgirá más resplandeciente que el mediodía, las tinieblas te serán como la mañana,
And brightness, like that of midday, will rise upon you until evening, and when you would think yourself consumed, you will rise up like the morning star.
18 tendrás seguridad por tener esperanza, echarás una mirada en torno, y dormirás tranquilo;
And, when hope has been set before you, you will have faith, and, when buried, you will sleep secure.
19 te acostarás, y no habrá quien te espante, y muchos acariciarán tu rostro.
You will rest, and there will be nothing to make you afraid, and many will make requests before your face.
20 Pero los ojos de los impíos desfallecerán; para ellos no habrá escape alguno; su esperanza será exhalar el alma.”
But the eyes of the impious will fade away, and the path to escape will perish before them, for the abomination of the soul is their hope.
