Isaías 9
1 No habrá más lobreguez sobre la (tierra) que (ahora) está en angustia. Como primeramente (Dios) cubrió de oprobio la tierra de Zabulón y la tierra de Neftalí, así al fin hará glorioso el camino del mar, la otra parte del Jordán, la Galilea de los gentiles.
For there is no gloom to her who had been in anguish, In the former time, he brought into dishonour The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, In the latter time, hath he brought into honour The Lake-way over the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.
2 El pueblo que andaba en tinieblas vio una gran luz; sobre los habitantes de la tierra de sombras de muerte resplandeció una luz.
the people who were walking in darkness, Have seen a great light, —The dwellers in a land death-shadowed, A light, hath shined upon them.
3 Multiplicaste el pueblo, hiciste grande su alegría; se regocijan delante de Ti con la alegría del tiempo de la siega; como los que saltan de gozo cuando reparten los despojos.
Thou hast increased the exultation Thou hast made great the joy, —They joy before thee, according to the joy of harvest, As men exult when they distribute spoil.
4 Porque el yugo que pesaba sobre ellos, y la vara que hería sus hombros, y el bastón de su exactor, Tú los hiciste pedazos, como en el día de Madián.
For, the yoke of their burden, The cross-bar of their shoulder, The goad of their driver, Hast thou broken, as in the day of Midian.
5 Pues todo zapato que (el guerrero) lleva en la batalla, y el manto revolcado en sangre, serán quemados y hechos pasto del fuego.
Surely, every boot of one tramping in tumult, and the war-cloak rolled in blood Then shall serve for burning, food for fire;
6 Porque un Niño nos ha nacido, un Hijo nos ha sido dado, que lleva el imperio sobre sus hombros. Se llamará Maravilloso, Consejero, Dios poderoso, Padre de la eternidad, Príncipe de la paz.
For, A Child, hath been born to us, A Son, hath been given to us, And the dominion is upon his shoulder, —And his Name hath been called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty GOD, Father of Futurity, Prince of Prosperity.
7 Se dilatará su imperio, y de la paz no habrá fin. (Se sentará) sobre el trono de David y sobre su reino, para establecerlo y consolidarlo mediante el juicio y la justicia, desde ahora para siempre jamás. El celo de Yahvé de los ejércitos hará esto.
Of the increase of dominion, and of prosperity, There shall be no end—Upon the throne of David and Upon his kingdom, By establishing it and By sustaining it, With justice and With righteousness, —From henceforth, Even unto times age-abiding: The jealousy of Yahweh of hosts, will perform this!
8 Envió el Señor una palabra contra Jacob, que cayó sobre Israel.
A word, hath My Lord, sent unto Jacob, —And it shall alight on Israel;
9 Lo conocerá todo el pueblo, los de Efraím como los habitantes de Samaria. Los que en la soberbia e hinchazón de su corazón están diciendo:
and the people shall all of them know [it] —Ephraim and the dweller in Samaria—Who in pride and insolence of heart, are saying:
10 “Han caído los ladrillos, mas edificaremos con piedras labradas; han sido cortados los sicómoros. Pero en su lugar pondremos cedros.”
Bricks, have fallen down But with hewn stone, will we build, —Sycomores, have been felled, But with cedars, will we replace them.
11 Por eso Yahvé suscitará contra él los adversarios de Rasín, e incitará a sus enemigos:
Therefore will Yahweh strengthen the adversaries of Resin against him, —And his enemies will he arouse:
12 los sirios al este, y los filisteos al oeste, los cuales a boca llena devorarán a Israel. Con todo esto no se apañará su ira, antes su mano estará aún extendida.
Syrians before and Philistines behind, Thus have they devoured Israel with open mouth, —For all this, hath his anger, not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched.
13 Porque el pueblo no quiere convertirse al que lo hiere ni buscar a Yahvé de los ejércitos;
Yet, the people, have not turned unto him that smote them, —And Yahweh of hosts, have they not sought.
14 por eso Yahvé cortará de Israel la cabeza y la cola, la palmera y el junco, en un mismo día.
Therefore hath Yahweh cut off from Israel—Head and tail Palm-top and rush, In one day.
15 Los ancianos y los notables son la cabeza, y el profeta que enseña mentiras es la cola.
The elder and favourite, he, is the head, —And the prophet teaching falsehood, he, is the tail;
16 Porque los que guían este pueblo lo descarrían, y los guiados por ellos van a la perdición.
And they who should have led this people forward have been causing them to stray, —And, they who are led of them are destroyed,
17 Por eso el Señor no se complacerá en sus jóvenes, ni tendrá compasión de sus huérfanos y de sus viudas; pues todos ellos son impíos y malvados, y cada boca profiere insensateces. Con todo esto no se aparta su ira, antes su mano está aún extendida.
For this cause, over their choice young men, will My Lord not rejoice, And on their fatherless and their widows, will he not have compassion, For every one of them, is profane and an evildoer, And, every mouth is speaking baseness, —For all this, hath his anger, not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched.
18 Pues la maldad arde como un fuego, devorando las zarzas y espinas, y prende las espesuras de la selva, que se elevan en remolinos de humo.
For lawlessness, hath consumed like fire, Briars and thorns, doth it devour, —Yea it hath kindled upon the thickets of the forest, And they have rolled up as a column of smoke.
19 Por la ira de Yahvé de los ejércitos el país está en llamas, y el pueblo es pasto del fuego. Nadie tiene piedad de su propio hermano;
Through the wrath of Yahweh of hosts, is the land consumed, —And the people have come to be, as fuel for fire, A man unto his own brother, sheweth not pity;
20 despedazan a la derecha, y queda el hambre, devoran a la izquierda, y no se hartan; come cada cual la carne de su brazo.
And he hath slain on the right, and yet is hungry, And hath eaten on the left, yet are they not satisfied, —Every one, the flesh of his own arm, will they eat:
21 Manasés contra Efraím, y Efraím contra Manasés, y los dos juntos contra Judá. Con todo esto no se aparta su ira, antes su mano está aún extendida.
Manasseh—Ephraim, and Ephraim—Manasseh, They together—against Judah, —For all this, hath his anger not turned back, But still, is his hand outstretched.
