Isaías 38

1 En aquellos días Ezequías enfermó de muerte. Y fue a verlo el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amós, quien le dijo: “Así dice Yahvé: Dispón tu casa, porque has de morir y no vivirás más.”

In those days was Hezekiah sick with a mortal disease. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

2 Entonces Ezequías volvió su rostro hacia la pared, y oró a Yahvé;

Then Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall, and prayed to the LORD,

3 y dijo: “Oh Yahvé, acuérdate, te suplico, de cómo he andado delante de Ti con fidelidad y con corazón sincero, y cómo he hecho lo que es bueno a tus ojos.” Y prorrumpió Ezequías en un llanto grande.

And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done [that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

4 Entonces llegó a Isaías esta palabra de Yahvé:

Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,

5 “Anda y di a Ezequías: Así dice Yahvé, el Dios de tu padre David: He oído tu oración y he visto tus lágrimas; he aquí que añadiré a tu vida quince años.

Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add to thy days fifteen years.

6 Y te libraré a ti y a esta ciudad del poder del rey de Asiria, pues Yo protegeré a esta ciudad.

And I will deliver thee and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

7 Y esto se te dará por señal de parte de Yahvé en prueba de que Él cumplirá lo que ha dicho:

And this [shall be] a sign to thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;

8 He aquí que haré retroceder la sombra diez grados de los que ha bajado en el reloj solar de Acaz.” En efecto, retrocedió el sol diez grados de los que había bajado.

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which hath gone down on the sun-dial of Ahaz ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it had gone down.

9 Cántico de Ezequías rey de Judá, cuando enfermó, y sanó de su enfermedad:

The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered from his sickness:

10 “Yo dije: A la mitad de mis días iré a las puertas del scheol, privado del resto de mis años. (Sheol h7585)

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)

11 Dije: Ya no veré a Yahvé, a Yahvé en la tierra de los vivientes; no veré más a hombre alguno entre los moradores del mundo.

I said, I shall not see the LORD, [even] the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

12 Mi morada ha sido arrancada y llevada lejos de mí, como tienda de pastor; cual tejedor ha enrollado mi vida, cortándome del telar; de la mañana a la noche acabas conmigo.

My age hath departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day [even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.

13 Espero hasta la mañana, pues como león, así me quebranta Él todos los huesos; de la mañana a la noche acabas conmigo.

I reckoned till morning, [that], as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day [even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.

14 Chillo como golondrina, como grulla, gimo cual paloma; se han debilitado mis ojos (de mirar) hacia lo alto. Angustiado estoy, oh Yahvé; sé Tú mi fiador.

Like a crane [or] a swallow, so I chattered: I mourned as a dove: my eyes fail [with looking] upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

15 Pero ¿qué diré ahora? ya que Él ha dicho, Él ha hecho. Andaré humildemente todos mis años en la amargura de mi alma.

What shall I say? he hath both spoken to me, and himself hath done [it]: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.

16 ¡Oh Señor, en estas condiciones vive (el hombre), y todas estas cosas (oprimen) la vida de mi espíritu. Pero Tú me sanas, Tú me das vida.

O LORD, by these [things men] live, and in all these [things is] the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

17 He aquí cómo se ha convertido en bien mi amarga aflicción; Tú has preservado mi alma del hoyo de la corrupción, has echado todos mis pecados tras de tus espaldas.

Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul [delivered it] from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

18 Pues no puede alabarte el scheol, ni celebrarte la muerte, ni esperan en tu fidelidad los que bajan a la fosa. (Sheol h7585)

For the grave cannot praise thee, death can [not] celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. (Sheol h7585)

19 Los vivientes, solamente los vivientes, son los que te alaban, como yo te alabo en este día. Los padres han de anunciar a los hijos tu fidelidad.

The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I [do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20 Yahvé es mi auxilio. Tañeremos instrumentos de cuerda todos los días de nuestra vida, ante la Casa de Yahvé.”

The LORD [was ready] to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

21 Pues Isaías había mandado: “Tomad una pasta de higos, y aplicadla sobre la úlcera; y él vivirá”.

For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay [it] for a plaster upon the boil, and he will recover.

22 Y Ezequías preguntó: “¿Cuál es la señal de que subiré de nuevo a la Casa de Yahvé?”

Hezekiah also had said, What [is] the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
