Isaías 21
1 Oráculo contra el desierto del mar: Como los huracanes vienen del sur, así viene esto del desierto, de una tierra terrible.
The doom of the desert by the sea. As tempests in the south blow with fury; so doth it come from the desert, from a terrible land.
2 Me ha sido mostrada dura visión: El saqueador sigue saqueando, y el devastador devasta aún. ¡Sube, Elam! ¡Asedia, oh medo! Suprimiré todos los gemidos de ella.
A hard vision hath been told unto me; the traitor dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. “Go up, O 'Elam; besiege, O Media;” all sighing have I caused to cease.
3 Por esto mis entrañas están llenas de angustia; dolores se han apoderado de mí, como dolores de una mujer que da a luz. Demasiado aturdido estoy para oír, demasiado aterrado para ver.
Therefore are my loins filled with pain; pangs have seized me, like the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I am too much cramped to hear; I am too much dismayed to see.
4 Mi corazón tambalea, me sobrecoge el horror. La noche que era mi deleite se me ha trocado en espanto.
My heart wandereth astray, dread affrighteth me: the evening of my pleasure hath he turned unto me into terror.
5 (En vez de) poner la mesa, tender el mantel, comer y beber, ¡levantaos, oh príncipes, engrasad el escudo!
Prepare the table, put on the candlesticks, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6 Porque así me ha dicho el Señor: “Ve y pon un atalaya que diga lo que viere.”
For thus hath said unto me the Lord, Go, set the watchman, what he seeth let him tell.
7 El cual vio a jinetes, de dos en dos montados en caballos, montados en asnos, montados en camellos. Y mirando con mayor atención,
And he will see chariots, horsemen in couples, riders on asses, riders on camels; and he shall listen diligently with much heed:
8 clamó como león: “Señor, estoy de centinela, sin cesar, todo el día, y todas las noches me quedo en mi puesto.”
And he calleth [like] a lion, Upon the watchtower, O Lord, do I stand continually in the daytime, and on my ward am I set all the nights.
9 Y he aquí que vinieron jinetes, de dos en dos, montados en caballos, y empezó a gritar y dijo: “Cayó, cayó Babilonia, y todas las estatuas de sus dioses yacen destrozadas por tierra.”
And, behold, here cometh a chariot with men, horsemen in couples, and he commenceth and saith, Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the graven images of her gods hath he shivered unto the ground.
10 Oh trilladura mía, oh pueblo de mi ira. Lo que he oído de parte de Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel, esto os he anunciado.
O my down-trodden [people, ] and the son of my threshingfloor: that which I have heard from the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have I told unto you.
11 Oráculo contra Duma: Me llegan voces desde Seír: “Centinela ¿qué hay de la noche? Centinela ¿qué hay de la noche?”
The doom of Dumah. Unto me one calleth out of Se'ir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12 Responde el centinela: “Viene la mañana y también la noche. Si queréis preguntar, preguntad. Volved a venir.”
The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will desire, desire ye; return, come again.
13 Oráculo contra Arabia: En las estepas de Arabia pasáis la noche, oh caravanas de Dedán.
The doom upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye caravans of Dedanim.
14 Al encontrar a un sediento, traedle agua, habitantes de la tierra de Tema, ofreced pan al fugitivo.
Toward him that is thirsty they bring water; the inhabitants of the land of Thema meet with suitable bread the fugitive.
15 Porque huyen de la espada, de la espada desenvainada, del arco entesado, y del furor de la guerra.
Because from the swords are they fled, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the pressure of war.
16 Pues así me ha dicho el Señor: “Dentro de un año, año como de jornalero, habrá desaparecido toda la gloria de Cedar;
For thus hath said the Lord unto me, Within yet one year, like the years of a hired laborer, shall all the glory of Kedar be at an end:
17 y del resto de los arcos de los valientes hijos de Cedar, quedarán pocos; porque Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, ha hablado.”
And the residue of the number of bows of the mighty men of the children of Kedar shall be small; for the Lord the God of Israel hath spoken it.
