Oseas 4
1 ¡Oíd la palabra de Yahvé, oh hijos de Israel! Pues Yahvé entra en juicio con los habitantes del país, porque no hay verdad ni misericordia, y no hay conocimiento de Dios en la tierra.
Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord [has] a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2 Perjuran, y mienten, matan, roban y adulteran, hacen violencia, y un homicidio sigue a otro.
Cursing, and lying, and murder, and theft, and adultery abound in the land, and they mingle blood with blood.
3 Por esto el país está de luto, y desfallecen cuantos en él habitan, juntamente con las bestias del campo y las aves del cielo. Hasta los peces de la mar desaparecen.
Therefore shall the land mourn, and shall be diminished with all that dwell in it, with the wild beasts of the field, and the reptiles of the earth, and with the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea shall fail:
4 Pero nadie se ponga a contender y nadie reprenda; porque tu pueblo es como aquellos que se querellan contra el sacerdote.
that neither any one may plead, nor any one reprove [another]; but my people are as a priest spoken against.
5 Tropezarás en pleno día, y también el profeta tropezará contigo de noche; y Yo haré perecer a tu madre.
Therefore they shall fall by day, and the prophet with thee shall fall: I have compared thy mother unto night.
6 Mi pueblo perece por falta de conocimiento. Por haber rechazado tú el conocimiento, Yo te rechazaré a ti para que no seas mi sacerdote. Por haber olvidado tú la ley de tu Dios, me olvidaré Yo de tus hijos.
My people are like as if they had no knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt not minister as priest to me: and [as] thou has forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children.
7 Cuanto más se multiplicaron, tanto más pecaron contra Mí; por lo cual trocaré su gloria en ignominia.
According to their multitude, so they sinned against me: I will turn their glory into shame.
8 Comen los pecados de mi pueblo, y las iniquidades de este le gustan.
They will devour the sins of my people, and will set their hearts on their iniquities.
9 Por eso el pueblo y los sacerdotes tendrán la misma suerte. Los castigaré por su conducta y haré recaer sobre ellos sus obras.
And the priest shall be as the people: and I will avenge on them their ways, and I will recompense to them their counsels.
10 Comerán, y no se saciarán; fornicarán y no se multiplicarán, por cuanto han dejado de servir a Yahvé.
And they shall eat, and shall not be satisfied: they have gone a-whoring, and shall by no means prosper: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.
11 Fornicación, vino y mosto quitan el buen sentido.
The heart of my people has gladly engaged in fornication and wine and strong drink.
12 Mi pueblo consulta a sus leños, y su palo le da revelaciones; porque el espíritu de fornicación los ha extraviado, se prostituyen apartándose de su Dios.
They asked counsel by [means of] signs, and they reported answer to them by their staves: they have gone astray in a spirit of whoredom, and gone grievously a-whoring from their God.
13 Ofrecen sacrificios sobre las cimas de los montes, y queman incienso sobre los collados, bajo las encinas, los álamos y los terebintos; porque es grata su sombra. Por eso fornican vuestras hijas y adulteran vuestras nueras.
They have sacrificed on the tops of the mountains, and on the hills they have sacrificed under the oak and poplar, and under the shady tree, because the shade was good: therefore your daughters shall go a-whoring, and your daughters-in-law shall commit adultery.
14 Sin embargo no castigaré a vuestras hijas fornicarias, ni a vuestras nueras adúlteras, por cuanto ellos mismos van aparte con las prostitutas, y ofrecen sacrificios con las hieródulas; así el pueblo que no entiende corre hacia su perdición.
And I will not visit upon your daughters when they shall commit fornication, nor your daughters-in-law when they shall commit adultery: for they themselves mingled themselves with harlots, and sacrificed with polluted ones, and the people that understood not entangled itself with a harlot.
15 Si tú, oh Israel, fornicas, al menos no se haga culpable Judá. No vayáis a Gálgala, ni subáis a Betaven; ni juréis (diciendo): «¡Vive Yahvé!»
But thou, O Israel, be not ignorant, and go ye not, [men of] Juda, to Galgala; and go not up to the house of On, and swear not by the living Lord.
16 Porque Israel se extravió como una vaca indómita; mas ahora los apacentará Yahvé cual corderos en lugar espacioso.
For Israel was maddened like a mad heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a wide place.
17 Efraím no se separa de los ídolos. ¡Déjale!
Ephraim, joined with idols, has laid stumbling-blocks in his own way.
18 Terminada su embriaguez se entregan a la fornicación; sus príncipes aman sobre todo la ignominia.
He has chosen the Chananites: they have grievously gone a-whoring: they have loved dishonour through her insolence.
19 El viento los tiene envueltos en sus alas; y quedarán avergonzados a causa de sus sacrificios.
Thou art a blast of wind in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their altars.
