Génesis 30

1 Viendo Raquel que no daba hijos a Jacob, tuvo envidia de su hermana, y dijo a Jacob: “Dame hijos, de lo contrario me muero.”

And Rachel having perceived that she bore Jacob no children, was jealous of her sister; and said to Jacob, Give me children; and if not, I shall die.

2 Entonces se airó Jacob contra Raquel, y dijo: “¿Estoy yo acaso en el lugar de Dios, que te ha negado el fruto del seno?”

And Jacob was angry with Rachel, and said to her, Am I in the place of God, who has deprived you of the fruit of the womb?

3 A lo cual ella contestó: “Ahí tienes a mi sierva Bilhá: llégate a ella para que dé a luz sobre mis rodillas. Así también yo tendré descendencia, por medio de ella.”

And Rachel said to Jacob, Behold my handmaid Balla, go in to her, and she shall bear upon my knees, and I also shall have children by her.

4 Diole, pues, a Bilhá, su sierva, por mujer; y Jacob se llegó a ella.

And she gave him Balla her maid, for a wife to him; and Jacob went in to her.

5 Concibió Bilhá y dio a Jacob un hijo.

And Balla, Rachel's maid, conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

6 Y dijo Raquel: “Dios me ha hecho justicia, y también ha oído mi voz, concediéndome un hijo.” Por eso le llamó Dan.

And Rachel said, God has given judgment for me, and listened to my voice, and has given me a son; therefore she called his name, Dan.

7 Concibió otra vez Bilhá, sierva de Raquel, y dio a Jacob un segundo hijo.

And Balla, Rachel's maid, conceived yet again, and bore a second son to Jacob.

8 Entonces dijo Raquel: “Luchas de Dios he luchado con mi hermana y he vencido.” Y le llamó Neftalí.

And Rachel said, God has helped me, and I contended with my sister and prevailed; and she called his name, Nephthalim.

9 Ahora bien, cuando Lía vio que había dejado de dar a luz, tomó a Silfá, su sierva, y se la dio a Jacob por mujer.

And Lea saw that she ceased from bearing, and she took Zelpha her maid, and gave her to Jacob for a wife; and he went in to her.

10 Y cuando Silfá, sierva de Lía, dio a Jacob un hijo,

And Zelpha the maid of Lea conceived, and bore Jacob a son.

11 exclamó Lía: ¡Qué buena suerte!”, y le puso por nombre Gad.

And Lea said, [It is] happily: and she called his name, Gad.

12 Silfá, sierva de Lía, dio a Jacob también un segundo hijo,

And Zelpha the maid of Lea conceived yet again, and bore Jacob a second son.

13 y dijo Lía: “¡Por dicha mía!, porque me llamarán dichosa las doncellas.” Y le llamó Aser.

And Lea said, I am blessed, for the women will pronounce me blessed; and she called his name, Aser.

14 Un día salió Rubén, en tiempo de la cosecha del trigo, y halló mandrágoras en el campo, que llevó a su madre Lía. Y dijo Raquel a Lía: “Dame, por favor, de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.”

And Ruben went in the day of barley harvest, and found apples of mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Lea; and Rachel said to Lea her sister, Give me of your son's mandrakes.

15 Mas ella le contestó: “¿Te parece poco haberme quitado mi marido? ¿Quieres también quitarme las mandrágoras de mi hijo?” A lo cual contestó Raquel: “Duerma entonces contigo esta noche, a trueque de las mandrágoras de tu hijo.”

And Lea said, [Is it] not enough for you that you have taken my husband, will you also take my son's mandrakes? And Rachel said, Not so: let him lie with you tonight for your son's mandrakes.

16 A la tarde, cuando Jacob volvió del campo, salió Lía a su encuentro y le dijo: “A mí has de venir, pues te he comprado por las mandrágoras de mi hijo”; por lo cual aquella noche durmió con ella.

And Jacob came in out of the field at even; and Lea went forth to meet him, and said, You shall come in to me this day, for I have hired you for my son's mandrakes; and he lay with her that night.

17 Y oyó Dios a Lía, que concibió y dio a Jacob un quinto hijo.

And God listened to Lea, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.

18 Y dijo Lía. “Dios ha dado mi recompensa por haber dado mi sierva a mi marido”; y le llamó Isacar.

And Lea said, God has given me my reward, because I gave my maid to my husband; and she called his name Issachar, which is, Reward.

19 Lía concibió otra vez y dio un sexto hijo a Jacob.

And Lea conceived again, and bore Jacob a sixth son.

20 Y dijo Lía: “Dios me ha dado un buen regalo; ahora habitará mi marido conmigo, pues le he dado seis hijos.” Y le puso por nombre Zabulón.

And Lea said, God has given me a good gift in this time; my husband will choose me, for I have born him six sons: and she called his name, Zabulon.

21 Después dio a luz una hija, a la que llamó Dina.

And after this she bore a daughter; and she called her name, Dina.

22 Se acordó Dios también de Raquel, la oyó y la hizo fecunda.

And God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and he opened her womb.

23 Concibió y dio a luz un hijo, y dijo: “Ha quitado Dios mi oprobio.”

And she conceived, and bore Jacob a son; and Rachel said, God has taken away my reproach.

24 Y le puso por nombre José, diciendo: “Añádame Yahvé otro hijo”.

And she called his name Joseph, saying, Let God add to me another son.

25 Cuando Raquel hubo dado a luz a José, dijo Jacob a Labán: “Déjame marchar, e iré a mi lugar y a mi tierra.

And it came to pass when Rachel had born Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, Send me away, that I may go to my place and to my land.

26 Dame mis mujeres y mis hijos, por quienes te he servido, y me iré; bien sabes los servicios que te he hecho.”

Restore my wives and my children, for whom I have served you, that I may depart, for you know the service wherewith I have served you.

27 Le respondió Labán: “¡Halle yo gracia a tus ojos! He observado que Yahvé me ha bendecido por tu causa.”

And Laban said to him, If I have found grace in your sight, I would augur [well], for the Lord has blessed me at your coming in.

28 Y agregó: “Fíjame tu salario, y lo daré.”

Appoint me your wages, and I will give [them].

29 Contestó él: “Tú sabes cómo te he servido, y cómo ha crecido tu hacienda conmigo.

And Jacob said, You know in what things I have served you, and how many cattle of your are with me.

30 Poco era lo que tenías antes de mi venida, pero se ha aumentado en extremo, pues Yahvé te ha bendecido con mi llegada. Ahora, pues, ¿cuándo podré trabajar también por mi casa?”

For it was little you had before my time, and it is increased to a multitude, and the Lord God has blessed you since my coming; now then, when shall I set up also my own house?

31 Le preguntó (Labán): “¿Qué es lo que he de darte?” “No me des nada, respondió Jacob, antes bien haz conmigo lo que te voy a decir, y volveré a pastorear y guardar tu rebaño.

And Laban said to him, What shall I give you? and Jacob said to him, You shall not give me anything; if you will do this thing for me, I will again tend your flocks and keep them.

32 Recorreré hoy toda tu grey, apartando de ella todo animal salpicado y mancho y todo animal negro entre los corderos y todo animal manchado y salpicado entre las cabras, y (esto) será mi recompensa.

Let all your sheep pass by today, and separate thence every grey sheep among the rams, and every one that is speckled and spotted among the goats—[this] shall be my reward.

33 Y responderá por mí mi rectitud el día de mañana, cuando se presente delante de ti mi salario: Todo lo que no fuere salpicado y manchado entre las cabras, y negro entre los corderos, será en mí un robo.”

And my righteousness shall answer for me on the morrow, for it is my reward before you: whatever shall not be spotted and speckled among the goats, and grey among the rams, shall be stolen with me.

34 “Bien está, dijo Labán, sea como dices.”

And Laban said to him, Let it be according to your word.

35 Y aquel mismo día (Labán) separó los chivos listados y manchados y todas las cabras salpicadas y manchadas, todo lo que tenía algo de blanco, y todo lo negro entre los corderos, y lo entregó en manos de sus hijos.

And he separated in that day the spotted and speckled he-goats, and all the spotted and speckled she-goats, and all that was grey among the rams, and every one that was white among them, and he gave them into the hand of his sons.

36 Además fijó una distancia de tres jornadas entre él y Jacob, el cual siguió apacentando el resto del rebaño de Labán.

And he set a distance of a three days' journey between them and Jacob. And Jacob tended the cattle of Laban that were left behind.

37 Entonces tomó Jacob unas varas verdes de álamo, de almendro y de plátano, y les quitó parte de la corteza, dejando al descubierto lo blanco de las varas.

And Jacob took to himself green rods of storax tree and walnut and plane tree; and Jacob peeled in them white stripes; and as he drew off the green, the white stripe which he had made appeared alternate on the rods.

38 Y colocó las varas así descortezadas en los canales o abrevaderos de agua a donde venían los animales a beber. (Las colocó) a la vista de los animales, para que se encelasen al tiempo de beber.

And he laid the rods which he had peeled, in the hollows of the watering-troughs, that whenever the cattle should come to drink, as they should have come to drink before the rods, the cattle might conceive at the rods.

39 Y así se encelaban los animales a la vista de las varas, y parían crías listadas, salpicadas y manchadas.

So the cattle conceived at the rods, and the cattle brought forth [young] speckled, and streaked and spotted with ash-colored [spots].

40 Y Jacob separó los corderos, dirigiendo ese ganado hacia las reses listadas y poniendo, en cambio, todo lo negro en el rebaño de Labán; y él colocó sus hatos aparte, sin ponerlos junto al rebaño de Labán.

And Jacob separated the lambs, and set before the sheep a speckled ram, and every variegated one among the lambs, and he separated flocks for himself alone, and did not mingle them with the sheep of Laban.

41 Y cada vez que se encelaban las reses robustas, ponía Jacob las varas ante los ojos del ganado en los abrevaderos, para que se encelasen ante las varas.

And it came to pass in the time wherein the cattle became pregnant, conceiving in the belly, Jacob put the rods before the cattle in the troughs, that they might conceive by the rods.

42 Mas cuando el ganado estaba débil, no las ponía, de modo que las crías débiles eran para Labán, y las robustas para Jacob.

But he did not put them in [indiscriminately] whenever the cattle happened to bring forth, but the unmarked ones were Laban's, and the marked ones were Jacob's.

43 Así el hombre se enriqueció de un modo extraordinario, y tuvo muchos rebaños, siervas y siervos, camellos y asnos.

And the man became very rich, and he had many cattle, and oxen, and servants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.
