Esdras 7
1 Después de estos acontecimientos, bajo el reinado de Artajerjes, rey de Persia, Esdras, hijo de Saraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Helcías,
And after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,
2 hijo de Sellum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob,
son of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub,
3 hijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Merayot,
son of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth,
4 hijo de Zaraías, hijo de Ucí, hijo de Bukí,
son of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki,
5 hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Fineés, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, Sumo Sacerdote;
son of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the head priest;
6 este Esdras subió de Babilonia. Era un escriba muy versado en la Ley de Moisés que había dado Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, y la mano de Yahvé, su Dios, estaba sobre él, por lo cual le concedió el rey todo cuanto pidió.
Ezra himself has come up from Babylon, and he [is] a scribe ready in the Law of Moses, that YHWH God of Israel gave, and the king gives to him—according to the hand of his God YHWH on him—all his request.
7 (Con él) subieron a Jerusalén algunos de los hijos de Israel, de los sacerdotes y levitas, de los cantores, porteros y natineos. Era el año séptimo del rey Artajerjes.
And there go up of the sons of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8 Llegó a Jerusalén en el mes quinto del año séptimo del rey.
And he comes to Jerusalem in the fifth month, that [is in] the seventh year of the king,
9 Había emprendido la subida desde Babilonia el primer día del mes primero, y sostenido por la benigna mano de Dios, llegó a Jerusalén el primero del mes quinto.
for on the first of the month he has founded the ascent from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month he has come to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God on him,
10 Porque Esdras había aplicado su corazón al estudio de la Ley de Yahvé, para cumplirla y para enseñar en Israel las leyes y los preceptos.
for Ezra has prepared his heart to seek the Law of YHWH, and to do, and to teach in Israel statute and judgment.
11 He aquí la copia de la carta que el rey Artajerjes dio a Esdras sacerdote y escriba, que explicaba las palabras de los mandamientos de Yahvé y de las leyes dadas por Él a Israel:
And this [is] a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of YHWH, and of His statutes on Israel:
12 “Artajerjes, rey de reyes, a Esdras sacerdote, escriba perfecto de la Ley de Dios del cielo, etc.
“Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, a perfect scribe of the Law of the God of the heavens, and at such a time:
13 Yo de mi parte he decretado que vayan contigo todos los del pueblo de Israel, de sus sacerdotes y levitas, residentes en mi reino que quisieren ir voluntariamente a Jerusalén.
By me has been made a decree that everyone who is willing, in my kingdom, of the people of Israel and of its priests and Levites, to go to Jerusalem with you, go;
14 Porque tú eres enviado de parte del rey y de sus siete consejeros para inspeccionar a Judá y Jerusalén en lo tocante a la Ley de Dios que está en tu mano,
because that from the king and his seven counselors you are sent, to inquire concerning Judah and concerning Jerusalem, with the Law of God that [is] in your hand,
15 y para llevar contigo la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros han dado espontáneamente al Dios de Israel, que tiene su morada en Jerusalén,
and to carry silver and gold that the king and his counselors willingly offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling place [is] in Jerusalem,
16 y también toda la plata y el oro que puedas conseguir en toda la provincia de Babilonia, y las donaciones voluntarias del pueblo, y de los sacerdotes, ofrecidas espontáneamente para la Casa de su Dios en Jerusalén.
and all the silver and gold that you find in all the province of Babylon, with the free-will offerings of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly, for the house of their God that [is] in Jerusalem,
17 Cuida de comprar con este dinero becerros, carneros, corderos, y las ofrendas y libaciones respectivas, que presentarás sobre el altar de la Casa de vuestro Dios en Jerusalén.
therefore you speedily buy with this money, bullocks, rams, lambs, and their presents, and their drink-offerings, and bring them near to the altar of the house of your God that [is] in Jerusalem,
18 Y lo que a ti y a tus hermanos parezca bien respecto del empleo de la plata y del oro que sobrare, hacedlo conforme a la voluntad de vuestro Dios.
and that which to you and to your brothers is good to do with the rest of the silver and gold, according to the will of your God you do.
19 Los utensilios que se te entregan para el servicio de la Casa de Dios, los has de depositar ante el Dios de Jerusalén;
And the vessels that are given to you, for the service of the house of your God, make perfect before the God of Jerusalem;
20 y lo demás que necesites para la Casa de tu Dios y que tengas que pagar, lo tomarás de la casa de los tesoros del rey.
and the rest of the necessary things of the house of your God, that it falls to you to give, you give from the treasure-house of the king.
21 Yo, el rey Artajerjes, he dado orden a todos los tesoreros de allende el río, que todo lo que os pidiere Esdras, sacerdote y escriba de la Ley del Dios del cielo, se ejecute diligentemente,
And by me—I Artaxerxes the king—is made a decree to all treasurers who [are] beyond the river, that all that Ezra the priest, scribe of the Law of the God of the heavens, asks of you, be done speedily:
22 hasta cien talentos de plata, cien coros de trigo, cien batos de vino, cien batos de aceite, y sal a discreción.
To silver one hundred talents, and to wheat one hundred cors, and to wine one hundred baths, and to oil one hundred baths, and salt without reckoning;
23 Todo lo mandado por el Dios del cielo, cúmplase puntualmente para la Casa del Dios del cielo, no sea que Él se irrite contra el reino del rey y de sus hijos.
all that [is] by the decree of the God of the heavens, let be done diligently for the house of the God of the heavens; for why is there wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?
24 Además os hacemos saber que no será lícito imponer tributo, ni impuesto, ni derechos de tránsito a ninguno de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros y natineos, ni a ningún sirviente de esta Casa de Dios.
And to you we are making known, that on any of the priests and Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, and servants of the house of God, tribute and custom there is no authority to lift up.
25 Y tú, Esdras, según la sabiduría que tienes de tu Dios, instituye magistrados y jueces que juzguen a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, a cuantos conocen las leyes de tu Dios; e instruid a los que no las conocen.
And you, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God, that [is] in your hand, appoint magistrates—even judges who may be judging—judging all the people who are beyond the river, to all knowing the Law of your God, and he who has not known, you cause to know;
26 Y contra todo aquel que no cumpliere exactamente la ley de tu Dios y la ley del rey, sea pronunciada la pena de muerte, o de destierro o una multa pecuniaria, o la pena de prisión.”
and any who does not do the Law of your God, and the law of the king, judgment is done speedily on him, whether to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of riches, and to bonds.”
27 ¡Bendito sea Yahvé, el Dios de nuestros padres, que puso este pensamiento en el corazón del rey, para glorificar la Casa de Yahvé en Jerusalén,
Blessed [is] YHWH, God of our fathers, who has given such a thing as this in the heart of the king, to beautify the house of YHWH that [is] in Jerusalem,
28 y que me ha otorgado misericordia delante del rey y sus consejeros, y delante de todos los grandes jefes del rey! Me sentí entonces confortado, porque me asistía la mano de Yahvé mi Dios; y junté a algunos de entre los jefes de Israel para que subieran conmigo.
and to me has stretched out kindness before the king and his counselors, and before all the mighty heads of the king: and I have strengthened myself as the hand of my God YHWH [is] on me, and I gather out of Israel heads to go up with me.
