Éxodo 4
1 Respondió Moisés y dijo: “Mira que no me creerán ni escucharán mi voz; pues dirán: No se te ha aparecido Yahvé.”
Moses answered, “But, behold, they will not believe me, nor listen to my voice; for they will say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
2 Díjole Yahvé: “¿Qué es eso que tienes en tu mano?” “Una vara”, respondió él.
The LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.”
3 Y le replicó: “Arrójala a tierra.” La tiró a tierra, y se convirtió en una serpiente; y huyó Moisés de ella.
He said, “Throw it on the ground.” He threw it on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses ran away from it.
4 Dijo entonces Yahvé a Moisés: “Extiende tu mano y agárrala por la cola —y él extendiendo la mano, la agarró, y volvió a ser vara en su mano—,
The LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand, and take it by the tail.” He stretched out his hand, and took hold of it, and it became a rod in his hand.
5 para que crean que se te ha aparecido Yahvé, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abrahán, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.”
“This is so that they may believe that the LORD, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6 Le dijo además Yahvé: “Mete tu mano en tu seno.” Metió él la mano en su seno y la volvió a sacar; y he aquí que su mano estaba leprosa (blanca) como la nieve.
The LORD said furthermore to him, “Now put your hand inside your cloak.” He put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous, as white as snow.
7 Y le dijo: “Vuelve a meter tu mano en tu seno.” Volvió a meter la mano en su seno, y cuando la sacó era como su carne.
He said, “Put your hand inside your cloak again.” He put his hand inside his cloak again, and when he took it out of his cloak, behold, it had turned again as his other flesh.
8 “Así, pues, si no te creen ni escuchan la voz de la primera señal creerán a la voz de la segunda.
“It will happen, if they will not believe you or listen to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.
9 Y si no creen tampoco a estas dos señales, y no escuchan tu voz, tomarás agua del río, y la derramarás en el suelo; y el agua que sacares del río, se convertirá en sangre sobre el suelo.”
It will happen, if they will not believe even these two signs or listen to your voice, that you shall take of the water of the river, and pour it on the dry land. The water which you take out of the river will become blood on the dry land.”
10 Dijo entonces Moisés a Yahvé: “¡Ah, Señor! yo no soy hombre elocuente, y esto no desde ayer ni desde anteayer, ni desde que Tú hablas con tu siervo; sino que soy torpe de boca y torpe de lengua.”
Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”
11 Le respondió Yahvé: “¿Quién ha dado al hombre la boca? ¿Y quién hace al mudo y al sordo, al que ve y al ciego? ¿No soy Yo, Yahvé?
The LORD said to him, “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes one mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Isn’t it I, the LORD?
12 Ahora, vete, que Yo estaré con tu boca y te enseñaré lo que has de decir.”
Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak.”
13 Mas él replicó: “¡Ah, Señor!, te ruego que mandes (tu mensaje) por mano de aquel que has de mandar.”
Moses said, “Oh, Lord, please send someone else.”
14 Entonces se encendió la ira de Yahvé contra Moisés, y le dijo: “¿No tienes a tu hermano Aarón, el levita? Sé que él habla bien; he aquí que precisamente ahora sale a tu encuentro, y al verte se regocijará en su corazón.
The LORD’s anger burnt against Moses, and he said, “What about Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Also, behold, he is coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart.
15 Hablarás, pues, con él y pondrás estas palabras en su boca, y Yo estaré con tu boca y con la suya, y os enseñaré lo que habéis de hacer.
You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do.
16 Él hablará por ti al pueblo y te servirá de boca, y tú serás para él (representante de) Dios.
He will be your spokesman to the people. It will happen that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.
17 Toma también en tu mano esta vara, porque con ella has de hacer las señales.”
You shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.”
18 Se fue Moisés para volver a casa de Jetró, su suegro, al cual dijo: “Iré con tu permiso, y volveré a ver a mis hermanos que están en Egipto, y veré si viven todavía.” Y dijo Jetró a Moisés: “Vete en paz.”
Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
19 Yahvé dijo (de nuevo) a Moisés en Madián: “Anda, vuelve a Egipto; pues han muerto todos los que buscaban tu vida.”
The LORD said to Moses in Midian, “Go, return into Egypt; for all the men who sought your life are dead.”
20 Tomó, pues, Moisés a su mujer y a sus hijos, y montándolos sobre un asno, volvió a la tierra de Egipto. Tomó Moisés también la vara de Dios en su mano.
Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moses took God’s rod in his hand.
21 Y dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Cuando vuelvas a Egipto, mira que hagas delante del Faraón todos los prodigios que he dado en tu mano; Yo, empero, endureceré su corazón, y no dejará ir al pueblo.
The LORD said to Moses, “When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.
22 Y dirás al Faraón: “Así dice Yahvé: Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito.
You shall tell Pharaoh, ‘The LORD says, Israel is my son, my firstborn,
23 Si Yo te digo: Deja ir a mi hijo para que me sirva, y si tú rehúsas dejarle ir, mira que Yo voy a matar a tu hijo, tu primogénito.”
and I have said to you, “Let my son go, that he may serve me;” and you have refused to let him go. Behold, I will kill your firstborn son.’”
24 Y sucedió que en el camino, en la posada, Yahvé le salió al encuentro y quiso darle muerte.
On the way at a lodging place, the LORD met Moses and wanted to kill him.
25 Tomó entonces Seforá un pedernal y cortando el prepucio de su hijo, tocó las piernas de (Moisés), diciendo: “Tú eres para mí un esposo de sangre.”
Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet; and she said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me.”
26 Y (Yahvé) le soltó por haber dicho ella: “esposo de sangre”, con motivo de la circuncisión.
So he let him alone. Then she said, “You are a bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.
27 A Aarón le dijo Yahvé: “Vete al desierto al encuentro de Moisés.” Partió, pues, y le encontró en el monte de Dios y le besó.
The LORD said to Aaron, “Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” He went, and met him on God’s mountain, and kissed him.
28 Moisés contó a Aarón todas las cosas para las cuales Yahvé le había enviado y todas las señales que le había mandado hacer.
Moses told Aaron all the LORD’s words with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.
29 Fueron, pues, Moisés y Aarón y reunieron a todos los ancianos de los hijos de Israel.
Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel.
30 Aarón refirió todas las palabras que Yahvé había dicho a Moisés, el cual hizo las señales delante del pueblo.
Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
31 El pueblo creyó, y al oír que Yahvé había visitado a los hijos de Israel y mirado su aflicción, inclinaron la cabeza y adoraron.
The people believed, and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
