Daniel 3
1 El rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro de sesenta codos de alto y seis codos de ancho. La erigió en la llanura de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.
King Nebuchadnezzar ordered his men to make a gold statue. It was (90 feet/27 meters) high and (9 feet/2.7 meters) wide. They set it up in the Dura plain in Babylon province.
2 Y mandó el rey Nabucodonosor reunir a los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias, para que asistiesen a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor.
Then he sent messages to all the provincial governors, the district governors, the chief advisors, the counselors, the various judges, and all the other officials in the province. He told them to come to the dedication of the statue that he had set up.
3 Se reunieron los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los generales, los altos magistrados, los tesoreros, los consejeros, los jueces y todos los intendentes de las provincias para asistir a la dedicación de la estatua levantada por el rey Nabucodonosor; y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que Nabucodonosor había erigido.
When they all arrived, they all stood in front of that statue.
4 Y gritaba un pregonero en voz alta: “A vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones y lenguas se os manda
Then an announcer shouted, “You people who come from many countries and many people-groups and [who speak many] languages, listen to what the king has commanded!
5 que al tiempo que oyereis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, os postréis para adorar la estatua de oro que ha levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.
When you hear the sounds made by the trumpets, the flutes, the guitars, the harps, the wind instruments, and all the other musical instruments, bow down to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gold statue.
6 Quien no se postrare ni (la) adorare, al instante será echado en un horno de fuego ardiente.”
Anyone who refuses to do that will be thrown into a blazing furnace!”
7 Por lo cual, al momento de oír todos los pueblos el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postraron todos esos pueblos, naciones y lenguas, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había alzado.
So when all those people who had gathered heard the sounds made by the musical instruments, they all bowed down to worship the statue.
8 En ese mismo tiempo vinieron algunos caldeos y acusaron a los judíos.
But some of the men who studied the stars went to the king.
9 Hablaron al rey Nabucodonosor y dijeron: “¡Vive para siempre, oh rey!
They reported to him, “We hope that you, O king, will live a long time!
10 Tú, oh rey, has dado un decreto según el cual todo hombre que oiga el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, se postre y adore la estatua de oro;
You decreed that all the officials [whom you had gathered] should bow down and worship the gold statue when they heard the sounds made by the musical instruments.
11 y que todo aquel que no se postrare para adorar, sea arrojado en un horno de fuego ardiente.
You also decreed that those who refused to do that would be thrown into a blazing furnace.
12 Pues bien, hay algunos judíos, a quienes tú has puesto al frente de la provincia de Babilonia: Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales no te tienen respeto, oh rey; no sirven a tus dioses, ni adoran la estatua de oro por ti erigida.”
Sir, there are some men from Judah whom you have appointed to be officials in Babylon province who have not obeyed your decree. Their names are Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They have refused to worship your god and the gold statue that you have set up.”
13 Entonces Nabucodonosor se llenó de rabia y furor, y mandó traer a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, los cuales fueron conducidos a la presencia del rey.
Nebuchadnezzar became very angry. He commanded [his soldiers] to bring in Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When they were brought to him,
14 Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y les dijo: “¿Es de propósito, oh Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago que no servís a mis dioses, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que yo he alzado?
Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true that you three men have refused to worship my gods or the gold statue that I have set up?
15 Ahora, pues, estad dispuestos: Al momento que oigáis el sonido del cuerno, de la flauta, de la cítara, del sambuco, del salterio, de la gaita y de toda suerte de instrumentos músicos, prosternaos y adorad la estatua que yo he hecho. Si no la adoráis, al instante seréis arrojados en un horno de fuego ardiente; y ¿quién es el Dios que os librará de mi mano?”
[If that is true, ] I will give you one more chance. If you bow down to worship the statue that I have set up when you hear the sounds of the musical instruments, fine. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. Then (what god will be able to rescue you from my power?/no god will be able to rescue you from my power!)” [RHQ]
16 Respondieron Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: “No tenemos necesidad de responderte acerca de este asunto,
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend our [actions] to you in this matter.
17 Si nuestro Dios, a quien servimos, quiere librarnos, nos librará del horno de fuego ardiente y de tu mano, oh rey.
If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we worship is able to rescue us. Sir, he will rescue us from your power.
18 Y si no, sabe, oh rey, que nosotros no serviremos a tus dioses, ni adoraremos la estatua de oro que ha sido por ti levantada.”
But [even] if he does not [rescue us], you need to know that we will never worship your gods or the gold statue that you have set up.”
19 Entonces Nabucodonosor se enfureció, y el aspecto de su rostro se demudó contra Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago. Y tomando de nuevo la palabra, mandó encender el horno siete veces más fuerte de lo acostumbrado.
Nebuchadnezzar was extremely angry. [His being very angry even] showed on his face. He commanded that the furnace should be made seven times as hot as usual.
20 Y dio orden a algunos de los más robustos de su ejército, de que ataran a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, para arrojarlos en el horno de fuego ardiente.
[After that was done, ] he commanded some of the [very] strong men of his army to tie Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and [then] to throw them into the blazing furnace.
21 Entonces fueron atados estos varones, con sus capas, sus túnicas, sus gorras y sus (otros) vestidos, y echados en el horno de fuego ardiente.
So [the soldiers] tied them up and threw them into the furnace, while they were wearing their clothes.
22 Y como la orden del rey era urgente, y el horno excesivamente caliente, la llama de fuego abrasó a aquellos hombres que habían echado a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago.
Because the fire had been made very hot because the king had very strongly ordered them to do that, the flames [leaped out and] killed the soldiers as they were throwing the men into the fire!
23 Así estos tres varones, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, cayeron atados en medio del horno de fuego ardiente.
So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego fell into the roaring flames.
24 Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor se asombró y levantándose apresuradamente, se dirigió a sus consejeros y dijo: “¿No fueron tres los hombres que echamos atados en medio del fuego?” Respondieron ellos y dijeron al rey: “Así es, oh rey.”
But as Nebuchadnezzar was watching, he was amazed. He suddenly jumped up and shouted to his advisors, “Did we tie up three men and throw them into the flames, or not?” They replied, “Yes, O king, [we did].”
25 Y él repuso, diciendo: “He aquí, que yo veo cuatro hombres sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, sin que hayan padecido daño alguno, y el aspecto del cuarto es semejante a un hijo de Dios.”
Nebuchadnezzar shouted, “[Look]! I see four men in the fire! They have no ropes on them, they are walking around, and [the flames] are not hurting them! And the fourth man looks like a divine being!”
26 Entonces Nabucodonosor, acercándose a la boca del horno de fuego ardiente, tomó la palabra y dijo: “¡Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, siervos del Dios Altísimo, salid y venid!” Salieron, pues, Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago de en medio del fuego.
Nebuchadnezzar came closer to the opening of the flaming furnace, and he shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, you who worship the Supreme God, come out of there! Come here!” So they stepped out of the fire.
27 Y habiéndose reunido los sátrapas, los gobernadores, los altos jefes y los consejeros del rey, vieron a esos varones sobre cuyos cuerpos el fuego no había tenido ningún poder. Ni un cabello de su cabeza se había chamuscado, sus ropas estaban intactas, ni siquiera el olor del fuego los había alcanzado.
Then all the king’s officials crowded around them. They saw that the flames had not harmed them. The flames had not [even] singed any of the hair on their heads or scorched any of their clothes! There was not [even] any smell of smoke on them!
28 Entonces Nabucodonosor tomó la palabra y dijo: “Bendito sea el Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, que ha enviado su ángel y ha salvado a sus siervos que han confiado en Él, traspasaron la orden del rey y entregaron sus cuerpos para no servir ni adorar a dios alguno fuera del Dios suyo.
[Then] Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise the God whom Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego [worship]! He sent one of his angels to rescue these [three] men who worship him and trust in him. They ignored my command; they insisted that they would worship only their God, and were willing to die instead of worshiping any other god.
29 Publico por mi parte este decreto: Cualquier pueblo, nación o lengua que hable mal del Dios de Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago, será hecho pedazos, y sus casas serán convertidas en cloacas; por cuanto no hay ningún otro dios que pueda salvar de tal manera.”
Therefore, I am [now] making this decree: ‘If any people, from any country or people-group or any language group, criticize the God whom Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego worship, they will be cut in pieces and their houses [will be torn down and] made into a pile of rubble. There is no other god who can rescue people like this!’”
30 Y el rey ensalzó a Sidrac, Misac y Abdénago en la provincia de Babilonia.
Then the king gave Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego more important positions in Babylon province than they had before.
