2 Timoteo 2
1 Tú, pues, hijo mío, vigorízate en la gracia que se halla en Cristo Jesús.
Thou therefore, my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Iesus.
2 Y lo que me oíste en presencia de muchos testigos, eso mismo trasmítelo a hombres fieles, los cuales serán aptos para enseñarlo a otros.
And what things thou hast heard of me, by many witnesses, ye same deliuer to faithfull men, which shalbe able to teache other also.
3 Sufre conmigo los trabajos como buen soldado de Cristo Jesús.
Thou therefore suffer affliction as a good souldier of Iesus Christ.
4 Ninguno que milita como soldado se deja enredar en los negocios de la vida; así podrá complacer al que le alistó.
No man that warreth, entangleth himselfe with the affaires of this life, because he woulde please him that hath chosen him to be a souldier.
5 Asimismo, el que combate como atleta, no es coronado si no combate en regla.
And if any man also striue for a Masterie, he is not crowned, except he striue as he ought to doe.
6 El labrador que se fatiga debe ser el primero en participar de los frutos.
The husbandman must labour before he receiue the fruites.
7 Entiende lo que digo, ya que el Señor te dará inteligencia en todo.
Consider what I say: and the Lord giue thee vnderstanding in all things:
8 Acuérdate de Jesucristo, de la estirpe de David, resucitado de entre los muertos, según mi Evangelio.
Remember that Iesus Christ, made of the seede of Dauid, was raysed againe from the dead according to my Gospel,
9 En Él sufro hasta cadenas como malhechor; mas la Palabra de Dios no está en cadenas.
Wherein I suffer trouble as an euill doer, euen vnto bondes: but the worde of God is not bounde.
10 Por eso todo lo soporto a causa de los escogidos, para que ellos también alcancen la salvación en Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I suffer all things, for the elects sake, that they might also obtaine the saluation which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glorie. (aiōnios g166)
11 Fiel es esta palabra: “Si hemos muerto con Él, también con Él viviremos;
It is a true saying, For if we be dead together with him, we also shall liue together with him.
12 si sufrimos, con Él también reinaremos; si le negamos, Él nos negará también;
If we suffer, we shall also reigne together with him: if we denie him, he also will denie vs.
13 si somos infieles, Él permanece fiel, pues no puede negarse a sí mismo”.
If we beleeue not, yet abideth he faithfull: he cannot denie himselfe.
14 Recuérdales, dando testimonio delante del Señor, que no hagan disputas de palabras; de nada sirven sino para perdición de los oyentes.
Of these things put them in remembrance, and protest before the Lord, that they striue not about wordes, which is to no profit, but to the peruerting of the hearers.
15 Empéñate en presentarte ante Dios como hombre probado, como obrero que no se avergüenza y que con rectitud dispensa la palabra de la verdad.
Studie to shewe thy selfe approued vnto God, a workeman that needeth not to be ashamed, diuiding the worde of trueth aright.
16 Evita las vanas palabrerías profanas; solo servirán para mayor impiedad,
Stay prophane, and vaine babblings: for they shall encrease vnto more vngodlinesse.
17 y su palabra cundirá cual gangrena. De los tales son Himeneo y Fileto,
And their worde shall fret as a canker: of which sort is Hymeneus and Philetus,
18 que aberrando de la verdad dicen que la resurrección ya ha sucedido y subvierten así la fe de algunos.
Which as concerning ye trueth haue erred from the marke, saying that the resurrection is past alreadie, and do destroy the faith of certaine.
19 Pero el fundamento de Dios se mantiene sólido y tiene este sello: “Conoce el Señor a los que son suyos” y “Apártese de la iniquidad todo aquel que pronuncia el nombre del Señor”.
But the foundation of God remaineth sure, and hath this seale, The Lord knoweth who are his: and, Let euery one that calleth on the Name of Christ, depart from iniquitie.
20 Es que en una casa grande no hay solamente vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro; y algunos son para uso honroso, otros para uso vil.
Notwithstanding in a great house are not onely vessels of gold and of siluer, but also of wood and of earth, and some for honour, and some vnto dishonour.
21 Si pues uno se purificare de estas cosas será un vaso para uso honroso, santificado, útil al dueño y preparado para toda obra buena.
If any man therefore purge him selfe from these, he shalbe a vessell vnto honour, sanctified, and meete for the Lord, and prepared vnto euery good worke.
22 Huye de las inclinaciones juveniles; sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz con aquellos que de corazón puro invocan al Señor.
Flee also from the lustes of youth, and follow after righteousnes, faith, loue, and peace, with them that call on the Lord with pure heart,
23 Rechaza las discusiones necias e indisciplinadas, sabiendo que engendran altercados.
And put away foolish and vnlearned questions, knowing that they ingender strife.
24 El siervo del Señor no debe ser litigioso sino manso para con todos, pronto para enseñar, sufrido,
But the seruant of ye Lord must not striue, but must be gentle toward all men, apt to teache, suffering the euill,
25 que instruya con mansedumbre a los que se oponen, por si acaso Dios les concede arrepentimiento para que conozcan la verdad,
Instructing them with meekenesse that are contrary minded, prouing if God at any time will giue them repentance, that they may acknowledge the trueth,
26 y sepan escapar del lazo del diablo, quien los tenía cautivos para someterlos a su voluntad.
And come to amendment out of that snare of the deuil, of whom they are taken prisoners, to doe his will.
