2 Reyes 23

1 El rey dio orden y se juntaron en torno a él todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

2 Y subió el rey a la Casa de Yahvé, y con él todos los hombres de Judá y los habitantes de Jerusalén, los sacerdotes y profetas; y el pueblo entero, desde los chicos hasta los grandes; y leyó delante de ellos todas las palabras del Libro de la Alianza, que había sido hallado en la Casa de Yahvé.

And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

3 Luego poniéndose de pie sobre el estrado renovó el rey la Alianza ante Yahvé, (prometiendo) andar en pos de Yahvé y guardar sus mandamientos, sus testimonios y sus leyes con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, cumpliendo las palabras de esta Alianza escritas en aquel libro; y todo el pueblo asintió a la Alianza.

And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all [their] heart and all [their] soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

4 Después mandó el rey al Sumo Sacerdote Helcías, a los sacerdotes de segundo orden y a los guardianes de la puerta, que sacaran del Templo de Yahvé todos los utensilios que habían sido hechos para Baal, para Aschera y para todo el ejército del cielo; y los quemó fuera de Jerusalén, en los campos del Cedrón; e hizo llevar sus cenizas a Betel.

And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth-el.

5 Expulsó a los sacerdotes que los reyes de Judá habían instituido para quemar incienso en los lugares altos de las ciudades de Judá y en los alrededores de Jerusalén, como también a los que quemaban incienso a Baal, al sol, a la luna, a los signos del zodíaco y a todo el ejército del cielo,

And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

6 Sacó asimismo de la Casa de Yahvé la aschera, (la llevó) fuera de Jerusalén, al valle del Cedrón y la quemó en el valle del Cedrón, reduciéndola a polvo, y arrojó su polvo sobre los sepulcros de la plebe.

And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped [it] small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.

7 Destruyó las habitaciones de los prostitutos que había en la Casa de Yahvé, donde las mujeres tejían pabellones para Aschera.

And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that [were] by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

8 Retiró a todos los sacerdotes desde las ciudades de Judá, profanó los lugares altos donde los sacerdotes quemaban incienso, desde Gabaá hasta Bersabee, y derribó los altares de los sátiros: el que estaba a la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de la ciudad, y el otro que se hallaba a la izquierda de la puerta de la ciudad.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer-sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that [were] in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which [were] on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

9 Con todo los sacerdotes de los lugares altos no podían subir al altar de Jerusalén, aunque comían de los panes ázimos en medio de sus hermanos.

Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

10 Profanó el Tófet, situado en el valle de los hijos de Hinnom, para que nadie hiciera pasar a su hijo o a su hija por el fuego en honor de Moloc.

And he defiled Topheth, which [is] in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

11 Quitó los caballos que los reyes de Judá habían dedicado al sol, a la entrada de la Casa de Yahvé, junto a la habitación del eunuco Natanmelec, en el Parvarim, y entregó al fuego los carros del sol.

And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathan-melech the chamberlain, which [was] in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

12 El rey destruyó también los altares que estaban sobre el terrado del aposento alto de Acaz, erigidos por los reyes de Judá, y los altares que había hecho Manasés en los dos atrios de la Casa de Yahvé, y después de arrojarlos de allí, echó el polvo de ellos en el torrente Cedrón.

And the altars that [were] on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake [them] down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

13 Asimismo profanó el rey los santuarios que había al este de Jerusalén, al sur del Monte de la Perdición, que Salomón, rey de Israel, había erigido en honor de Astarté, ídolo de los sidonios, de Camos, ídolo de Moab, y de Melcom, ídolo de los hijos de Ammón,

And the high places that [were] before Jerusalem, which [were] on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.

14 hizo pedazos las estatuas, cortó las ascheras y llenó el lugar donde estaban, de huesos humanos.

And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.

15 Destruyó, además, el altar de Betel y el lugar alto erigido por Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel. (Destruyó) tanto el altar como el lugar alto; quemó el lugar alto, reduciéndolo a polvo, y quemó también la aschera.

Moreover the altar that [was] at Beth-el, [and] the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, [and] stamped [it] small to powder, and burned the grove.

16 Cuando Josías miraba en torno suyo, vio los sepulcros que había allí en el monte y mandó sacar los huesos de los sepulcros, y los quemó sobre el altar, profanándolo conforme a la palabra de Yahvé pronunciada por aquel varón de Dios que había anunciado estas cosas.

And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that [were] there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned [them] upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.

17 Y preguntó: “¿Qué monumento es este que veo?” Los hombres de la ciudad le contestaron: “Es el sepulcro del varón de Dios que vino de Judá, y anunció estas cosas que tú acabas de hacer contra el altar de Betel.”

Then he said, What title [is] that that I see? And the men of the city told him, [It is] the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth-el.

18 Entonces dijo: “¡Dejadle; que nadie mueva sus huesos!” Así dejaron en paz sus huesos, con los huesos del profeta que había venido de Samaria.

And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.

19 Josías quitó también los santuarios de los lugares altos de las ciudades de Samaria, erigidos por los reyes de Israel para irritar (a Yahvé); e hizo con ellas lo mismo que había hecho en Betel.

And all the houses also of the high places that [were] in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke [the Lord] to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth-el.

20 Mató sobre sus altares a todos los sacerdotes de los lugares altos que había allí, y quemó sobre ellos huesos humanos. Después se volvió a Jerusalén.

And he slew all the priests of the high places that [were] there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.

21 Entonces dio el rey a todo el pueblo esta orden: “Celebrad la Pascua en honor de Yahvé, vuestro Dios, conforme a lo que está escrito en este Libro de la Alianza.”

And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as [it is] written in the book of this covenant.

22 Y nunca se celebró Pascua como esta desde los días de los Jueces que gobernaron a Israel, ni en todos los días de los reyes de Israel y de los reyes de Judá.

Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;

23 Corría el año decimoctavo del rey Josías cuando se celebró esta Pascua en honor de Yahvé en Jerusalén.

But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, [wherein] this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem.

24 Josías extirpó igualmente a los nigromantes y a los que practicaban la magia; también los terafim, los ídolos, y todas las abominaciones que se veían en tierra de Judá y Jerusalén. Así cumplió las palabras de la Ley, escritas en el libro que el sacerdote Helcías había hallado en la Casa de Yahvé.

Moreover the [workers with] familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.

25 Antes de (Josías) no hubo rey que como él con todo su corazón y con toda su alma y con todas sus fuerzas, se convirtiese a Yahvé, siguiendo en todo la Ley de Moisés; y después de él tampoco surgió otro igual.

And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there [any] like him.

26 A pesar de esto Yahvé no desistió del ardor, de su gran cólera que tenía encendida contra Judá, a causa de todas las provocaciones con que Manasés le había irritado.

Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.

27 Por lo cual dijo Yahvé: “Voy a quitar de mi presencia también a Judá, como he quitado a Israel; y rechazaré a Jerusalén, esa ciudad que Yo había escogido, y la Casa de la que Yo dije: Allí estará mi Nombre.”

And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

28 Las demás cosas de Josías, y todo lo que hizo, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

29 En sus días subió el Faraón Necao, rey de Egipto, contra el rey de Asiria, hacia el río Éufrates. El rey Josías le salió al paso, y (el Faraón) le mató en Megiddó, en el primer encuentro.

In his days Pharaoh-nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.

30 Sus siervos lo llevaron muerto desde Megiddó y lo transportaron a Jerusalén, donde le sepultaron en su sepulcro. Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz, hijo de Josías, al cual ungieron y proclamaron rey en lugar de su padre.

And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead.

31 Joacaz tenía veintitrés años cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó tres meses en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Hamital, hija de Jeremías, de Lobná.

Jehoahaz [was] twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

32 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, imitando todo lo que habían hecho sus padres.

And he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

33 El Faraón Necao lo encadenó en Rebla, en el país de Hamat, para que no reinase en Jerusalén. E impuso al país una contribución de cien talentos de plata y un talento de oro.

And Pharaoh-nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.

34 El Faraón Necao puso por rey a Eliaquim, hijo de Josías, en lugar de Josías, su padre, mudándole el nombre en el de Joakim. Y llevó consigo a Joacaz, el cual fue a Egipto y murió allí.

And Pharaoh-nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.

35 Joakim dio la plata y el oro al Faraón, pero para pagar el dinero, según la orden del Faraón, tuvo que imponer al país una contribución, por lo cual exigió de cada uno del pueblo del país, según su valuación, oro y plata, para entregarlo al Faraón Necao.

And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give [it] unto Pharaoh-nechoh.

36 Veinticinco años tenía Joakim cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó once años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Cebidá, hija de Fadaías, de Ruma.

Jehoiakim [was] twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

37 Hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, imitando todo lo que habían hecho sus padres.

And he did [that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
