1 El año doce de Acaz, rey dé Judá, Oseas, hijo de Elá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaria. (Reinó) nueve años,
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel, for nine years.
2 e hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, pero no tanto como los reyes de Israel que le precedieron.
And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not as the kings of Israel that had been before him.
3 Contra él subió Salmanasar, rey de Asiria, y Oseas se hizo vasallo suyo, pagándole tributo.
Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria, and Hoshea became his servant, and tendered him presents.
4 Mas el rey de Asiria descubrió una conspiración de Oseas que había enviado embajadores a Sua, rey de Egipto, y no pagó más el tributo al rey de Asiria, como solía hacer anualmente. Por lo cual el rey de Asiria lo tomó preso y lo encarceló.
But the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and sent up no present to the king of Assyria as [he had done] from year to year. And the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison.
5 Después el rey de Asiria recorrió todo el país y subió contra Samaria, y la tuvo sitiada durante tres años.
And the king of Assyria overran the whole land, and went up against Samaria, and besieged it three years.
6 En el año noveno de Oseas, el rey de Asiria tomó a Samaria, y llevó a (los habitantes de) Israel cautivos a Asiria, donde los estableció en Halah y cerca del Habor, río de Gozan, y en las ciudades de los medos.
In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 Esto sucedió porque los hijos de Israel habían pecado contra Yahvé, su Dios, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto, de bajo de la mano del Faraón, rey de Egipto, y porque habían servido a otros dioses,
And so it was, because the children of Israel had sinned against Jehovah their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods;
8 e imitado los cultos de los pueblos que Yahvé había expulsado ante los hijos de Israel, y los cultos introducidos por los reyes de Israel.
and they walked in the statutes of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
9 Pues los hijos de Israel no obraron con sinceridad con Yahvé, su Dios, edificaron lugares altos en todas sus ciudades, desde la torre de atalaya hasta la ciudad fortificada,
And the children of Israel did secretly against Jehovah their God things that were not right; and they built them high places in all their cities, from the watchmen's tower to the fortified city.
10 alzaron piedras de culto y ascheras sobre todo collado alto y debajo de todo árbol frondoso;
And they set them up columns and Asherahs on every high hill and under every green tree;
11 y allí, en todos los lugares altos, quemaron incienso como los pueblos que Yahvé había quitado de delante de ellos. Así hicieron cosas malas, provocando la ira de Yahvé,
and there they burned incense on all the high places, as did the nations that Jehovah had carried away from before them, and they wrought wicked things to provoke Jehovah to anger;
12 y dando culto a los ídolos, respecto de los cuales Yahvé les había dicho: “¡No hagáis tal cosa!”
and they served idols, as to which Jehovah had said to them, Ye shall not do this thing.
13 Yahvé no dejó de dar testimonio contra Israel y contra Judá, por medio de todos sus profetas y de todos los videntes, diciendo: “Abandonad vuestros malos caminos y observad mis mandamientos y mis preceptos, siguiendo fielmente la Ley que yo he prescrito a vuestros padres, y que os he transmitido por medio de mis siervos los profetas.”
And Jehovah testified against Israel and against Judah, by all the prophets, all the seers, saying, Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments, my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you through my servants the prophets.
14 Pero ellos no quisieron escuchar, antes endurecieron su cerviz, como lo habían hecho sus padres, que no dieron crédito a Yahvé, su Dios.
But they would not hear, and hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, who did not believe in Jehovah their God.
15 Desecharon sus leyes y la alianza que Él había hecho con sus padres, y las amonestaciones con que los reconvino, y marcharon tras la vanidad, infatuándose por la misma, y en pos de las naciones que estaban en derredor de ellos; respecto de los cuales Yahvé les había mandado que no los imitasen.
And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant which he had made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he had testified unto them; and they followed vanity and became vain, and [went] after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom Jehovah had charged them that they should not do like them.
16 Abandonaron todos los mandamientos de Yahvé, su Dios, y se hicieron imágenes de fundición, los dos becerros. Hicieron también ascheras, postrándose ante toda la milicia del cielo, y sirvieron a Baal.
And they forsook all the commandments of Jehovah their God, and made them molten images, two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshipped all the host of the heavens, and served Baal;
17 Hicieron pasar a sus hijos y a sus hijas por el fuego, practicaron la adivinación y los encantamientos, y se entregaron a cuanto era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, para irritarle.
and they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.
18 Por eso Yahvé se irritó fuertemente contra Israel y los apartó de su presencia, quedando solamente la tribu de Judá;
Therefore Jehovah was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there remained but the tribe of Judah only.
19 aunque Judá tampoco guardó los mandamientos de Yahvé, su Dios, sino que imitaron los cultos que Israel había, introducido.
Also Judah kept not the commandments of Jehovah their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they had made.
20 Por eso desechó Yahvé a toda la descendencia de Israel, los humilló y los entregó en manos de salteadores hasta arrojarlos de su presencia.
And Jehovah rejected all the seed of Israel; and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
21 Porque cuando Él arrancó a Israel de la casa de David, y ellos constituyeron rey a Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, este Jeroboam apartó a Israel de Yahvé, y los hizo cometer un gran pecado.
For Israel had rent [the kingdom] from the house of David; and they had made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king; and Jeroboam violently turned Israel from following Jehovah, and made them sin a great sin.
22 Pues los hijos de Israel siguieron todos los pecados que Jeroboam había cometido, y no se apartaron de ellos,
And the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they did not depart from them:
23 hasta que Yahvé quitó de su presencia a Israel, como había anunciado por todos sus siervos los profetas. Y así Israel fue llevado cautivo de su tierra a Asiria, hasta el día de hoy.
until Jehovah had removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said through all his servants the prophets; and Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria, unto this day.
24 El rey de Asiria trajo gentes de Babilonia, de Cuta, de Avá, de Hamat y de Sefarvaim, y las estableció en las ciudades de Samaria, en lugar de los israelitas, y tomaron posesión de Samaria y habitaron en las ciudades de (Israel).
And the king of Assyria brought [people] from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and made them dwell in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in its cities.
25 Mas cuando comenzaron a habitar allí, sin temor de Yahvé, envió, Yahvé contra ellos leones, que los mataron.
And so it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not Jehovah; and Jehovah sent lions among them, which killed [some] of them.
26 Por lo cual enviaron a decir al rey de Asiria: “Las gentes que tú has transportado para establecerlas en las ciudades de Samaria, no saben cómo servir al dios del país; este ha enviado contra ellas leones que las están matando, pues ellas no saben cómo servir al dios del país.”
And they spoke to the king of Assyria saying, The nations that thou hast removed and made to dwell in the cities of Samaria know not the manner of the god of the land; therefore he has sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the god of the land.
27 Dio entonces el rey de Asiria esta orden: “Llevad allá uno de los sacerdotes que de allí habéis traído cautivo, y vaya y habite allí, y les enseñe cómo servir al dios del país.”
And the king of Assyria commanded saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye have brought away from thence; and let them go and abide there, and let him teach them the manner of the god of the land.
28 Llegó uno de los sacerdotes que habían sido llevados cautivos de Samaria, y habitó en Betel, y les enseñó cómo habían de temer a Yahvé.
Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and abode in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Jehovah.
29 Con todo, cada nación se fabricó su propio dios, que pusieron en los santuarios de los lugares altos que los samaritanos habían edificado, cada nación en las ciudades donde habitaba.
And every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places that the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they dwelt.
30 Los que habían venido de Babilonia pusieron a Sucot-Benot, los de Cuta a Nergal, los de Hamat a Asimá,
And the people of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the people of Cuth made Nergal, and the people of Hamath made Ashima,
31 los de Avá a Nibcaz y a Tartac, y los de Sefarvaim entregaban a sus hijos al fuego en honor de Adramelec y Anamelec, dioses de Sefarvaim.
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim.
32 Temían también a Yahvé y hacían para sí sacerdotes de los lugares altos, tomándolos del vulgo, los cuales ofrecían por ellos sacrificios en los santuarios de los lugares altos.
So they feared Jehovah, and made to themselves from all classes of them priests of the high places, who offered [sacrifices] for them in the houses of the high places.
33 Temían a Yahvé, y al mismo tiempo servían a sus propios dioses, según la costumbre de las naciones de donde habían sido transportados.
They feared Jehovah, and served their own gods after the manner of the nations, whence they had been carried away.
34 Hasta este día siguen ellos sus antiguas costumbres. No temen a Yahvé, ni obran según las normas y estatutos, ni tampoco según la Ley y los mandamientos que Yahvé prescribió a los hijos de Jacob, a quien dio el nombre de Israel.
To this day they do after their former customs: they fear not Jehovah, neither do they after their statutes or after their ordinances, nor after the law and commandment that Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.
35 Yahvé había hecho con ellos alianza y les había mandado, diciendo: “No temáis a otros dioses, ni os prosternéis delante de ellos, ni los sirváis, ni les ofrezcáis sacrificios.
And Jehovah had made a covenant with them, and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow down yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;
36 A Yahvé, que os ha sacado del país de Egipto con gran poder y con brazo extendido, a Él habéis de temer; delante de Él habéis de prosternaros, y a Él habéis de ofrecer sacrificios.
but Jehovah alone, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched-out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.
37 Observad los preceptos y los estatutos, la Ley y los mandamientos que Él escribió para vosotros. Cuidad de ponerlos en práctica todos los días; y no temáis a otros dioses.
And the statutes and the ordinances and the law, and the commandment which he wrote for you, ye shall observe to do for evermore; and ye shall not fear other gods.
38 No olvidéis la alianza que hice con vosotros, ni temáis a otros dioses;
And ye shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you, neither shall ye fear other gods;
39 sino temed a Yahvé, vuestro Dios, y Él os librará de las manos de todos vuestros enemigos.”
but ye shall fear Jehovah your God, and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.
40 Pero ellos no escucharon, sino que están obrando todavía conforme a su antigua costumbre.
And they did not hearken, but did after their former customs.
41 Estas naciones temen, por una parte, a Yahvé, y por la otra sirven a sus estatuas; y sus hijos y los hijos de sus hijos obran hasta hoy de la misma manera que sus padres.
And these nations feared Jehovah, and served their graven images, both their children and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they, unto this day.
