2 Reyes 13

1 El año veinte y tres de Joás, hijo de Ococías, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, sobre Israel en Samaria. (Reinó) diez y siete años,

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Achazyahu the king of Judah became Jehoachaz the son of Jehu king over Israel in Samaria [for] seventeen years.

2 e hizo lo que era malo a los ojos de Yahvé, imitando los pecados de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, el cual había hecho pecar a Israel. Nunca se apartó de ellos;

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and followed the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who induced Israel to sin: he departed not therefrom.

3 con lo cual se encendió la ira de Yahvé contra Israel, y los entregó durante todo ese tiempo en manos de Hazael, rey de Siria, y en manos de Benhadad, hijo de Hazael.

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel; and he gave them up into the hand of Chazael the king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Chazael, all the time.

4 Entonces Joacaz imploró a Yahvé, y le oyó Yahvé, porque vio la opresión de Israel con que los oprimía el rey de Siria.

And Jehoachaz besought the Lord; and the Lord hearkened unto him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.

5 Y Yahvé dio a Israel un libertador; y liberados del poder de los sirios habitaron los hijos de Israel en sus tiendas como en los tiempos anteriores,

(And the Lord gave Israel a deliverer, so that they came out from under the power of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in times past.

6 pero no se apartaron de los pecados de la casa de Jeroboam, el cual había hecho pecar a Israel. Anduvieron en ellos, y también la aschera permaneció en Samaria.

Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jerobo'am, who induced Israel to sin, therein the people walked: and the Asherah also remained standing in Samaria.)

7 Por eso (Yahvé) no dejó a Joacaz más gentes que cincuenta de a caballo, diez carros y diez mil soldados de a pie; pues el rey de Siria los había destruido y deshecho como el polvo que se pisotea.

For he had left of people to Jehoachaz none but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand men on foot; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust at threshing.

8 Las demás cosas de Joacaz, y todo lo que hizo y sus hazañas, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoachaz, and all that he did, and his mighty deeds, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

9 Joacaz se durmió con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en Samaria. Reinó en su lugar su hijo Joás.

And Jehoachaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son became king in his stead.

10 El año treinta y siete de Joás, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Joás, hijo de Joacaz, sobre Israel en Samaria. (Reinó) diez y seis años,

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash the king of Judah became Jehoash the son of Jehoachaz king over Israel in Samaria, [for] sixteen years.

11 e hizo lo malo a los ojos de Yahvé; porque no se apartó de ninguno de los pecados de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, que había hecho pecar a Israel, sino que caminó en ellos.

And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord; he departed not from all the sins of Jerobo'am the son of Nebat, who induced Israel to sin: therein he walked.

12 Las demás cosas de Joás, y todo lo que hizo, sus hazañas y su guerra contra Amasías, rey de Judá, ¿no está esto escrito en el libro de los anales de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his mighty deeds wherewith he fought against Amazyah the king of Judah, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

13 Durmiose Joás con sus padres y se sentó Jeroboam sobre su trono. Joás fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel.

And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jerobo'am sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Estando Eliseo enfermo de la enfermedad de la cual había de morir, bajó a verle Joás, rey de Israel, y llorando sobre su rostro dijo: “¡Padre mío, padre mío! ¡Carro de Israel y su caballería!”

Now Elisha' was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he had to die. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and their horsemen.

15 Eliseo le dijo: “Toma un arco y flechas.” Y tomó el arco y flechas;

And Elisha' said unto him, Fetch a bow and arrows. And he fetched unto him a bow and arrows.

16 y dijo (Eliseo) al rey de Israel: “Pon tu mano sobre el arco.” Él la puso, y Eliseo puso sus manos sobre las manos del rey,

And he said to the king of Israel, Place thy hand upon the bow. And he placed his hand [upon it]: and Elisha' laid his hands upon the king's hands.

17 y le dijo: “Abre la ventana que da al oriente.” Él la abrió; y dijo Eliseo: “¡Dispara!” Disparó (el rey), y dijo (Eliseo): “Es una flecha de liberación, de parte de Yahvé, una flecha de liberación del poder de los sirios, porque derrotarás a los sirios en Afee hasta exterminarlos.”

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then said Elisha', Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of victory from the Lord, and the arrow of victory over Syria; and thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till they be consumed.

18 Y repitió: “Toma las flechas.” Él las tomó, y dijo (Eliseo) al rey de Israel: “¡Hiere la tierra!” La hirió tres veces, y se detuvo.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And he struck three times, and stopped.

19 Se irritó contra él el varón de Dios y dijo: “Si la hubieras herido cinco o seis veces, habrías derrotado a los sirios hasta exterminarlos. Ahora pues, solamente tres veces derrotarás a los sirios.”

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, Thou shouldst have struck five or six times; then wouldst thou have smitten the Syrians till they had been consumed: whereas now thou shalt smite the Syrians three times.

20 Murió Eliseo y lo sepultaron. Al comienzo del próximo año, los guerrilleros de Moab hicieron una incursión en el país,

And Elisha' died, and they buried him. And the predatory bands of Moabites frequently invaded the land at the coming in of the year.

21 y vieron a los guerrilleros algunos que estaban enterrando a un hombre. Entonces arrojaron al hombre en el sepulcro de Eliseo; y al tocar el hombre los huesos de Eliseo, revivió y se puso en pie.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they saw the band; and they cast down the man into the sepulchre of Elisha': and as the man came, and touched the bones of Elisha', he revived, and rose up on his feet.

22 Hazael, rey de Siria, oprimió a Israel todos los días de Joacaz.

But Chazael the king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoachaz.

23 Mas Yahvé les tuvo misericordia, y se compadeció de ellos. Volvió hacia ellos su rostro a causa de su alianza con Abrahán, Isaac y Jacob; y no quiso destruirlos, ni desecharlos definitivamente de su presencia.

And the Lord became gracious unto them, and had mercy on them, and turned his regard unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, and he cast them not off from his presence even until now.

24 Murió Hazael, rey de Siria, y en su lugar reinó Benhadad, su hijo.

And Chazael the king of Syria died: and Ben-hadad his son became king in his stead.

25 Entonces Joás, hijo de Joacaz, reconquistó de mano de Benhadad, hijo de Hazael, las ciudades que este había quitado a su padre Joacaz, por derecho de guerra. Tres veces lo derrotó Joás, y reconquistó las ciudades de Israel.

And Jehoash the son of Jehoachaz took again the cities out of the power of Ben-hadad the son of Chazael, which he had taken out of the power of Jehoachaz his father in the war. Three times did Joash beat him, and he recovered the cities of Israel.
