2 Crónicas 9
1 Había oído la reina de Sabá la fama de Salomón, y vino a Jerusalén para probar a Salomón con enigmas. (Vino) con séquito muy grande, con camellos que traían aromas, gran cantidad de oro, y piedras preciosas. Llegada que fue donde estaba Salomón, habló con él sobre todo lo que tenía en su corazón.
The queen of Sheba heard how famous Solomon was, so she came to Jerusalem to test him with tough questions. She brought with her a very large entourage, with camels loaded with spices, large amounts of gold, and precious gemstones. She came to Solomon and asked him about everything she had on her mind.
2 Salomón contestó a todas sus preguntas; y no hubo nada que fuese escondido a Salomón y que él no pudiera explicarle.
Solomon answered all her questions. There was nothing he couldn't explain to her.
3 Cuando la reina de Sabá vio la sabiduría de Salomón, y la casa que había edificado,
When the queen of Sheba saw Solomon's wisdom, and the palace he had built,
4 los manjares de su mesa, las habitaciones de sus servidores, el porte de sus criados y los vestidos de los mismos, sus coperos con sus trajes, y la escalera por donde él subía a la Casa de Yahvé, se quedó como atónita,
the food on the table, how his officials lived, how his servants operated and how they were dressed, the clothes of the waiters, and the burnt offerings he presented at the Lord's Temple, she was so astonished she could hardly breathe.
5 y dijo al rey: “Verdad es lo que en mi país he oído decir de ti y de tu sabiduría.
She told the king, “It's true what I heard in my own country about your proverbs and your wisdom!
6 Yo no creía lo que se decía, hasta que he venido y lo han visto mis propios ojos; y he aquí que no se me había contado ni la mitad de la grandeza de tu sabiduría, pues tú sobrepujas la fama que yo Había oído.
But I didn't believe what they told me until I came and saw with my own eyes. In fact, I wasn't told the half of it—the extent of your wisdom far exceeds what I heard!
7 ¡Dichosas tus gentes! ¡Dichosos estos tus siervos, los cuales están siempre en tu presencia y oyen tu sabiduría!
How happy your people must be! How happy those who work for you, who stand here every day listening to your wisdom!
8 ¡Bendito sea Yahvé tu Dios que se ha complacido en ti, poniéndote sobre su trono como rey de Yahvé, tú Dios, por el amor que tu Dios tiene hacia Israel para conservarlo para siempre, y te ha hecho rey sobre ellos para ejercer juicio y justicia!”
Praise the Lord your God who is so pleased with you, who placed you on his throne as king to rule on his behalf. Because of the love of your God for Israel he has made them secure forever, and he has made you king over them to do what is fair and right.”
9 Y dio al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, gran cantidad de aromas y piedras preciosas. Nunca hubo aromas como los que la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón.
She presented the king with one hundred and twenty talents of gold, huge amounts of spices and precious stones. Never before had there been spices like those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 Los siervos de Huram y los siervos de Salomón, que traían oro de Ofir, trajeron también madera de sándalo y piedras preciosas.
(Hiram and of Solomon's men, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum wood and precious stones.
11 De la madera de sándalo hizo el rey balaustradas para la Casa de Yahvé y la casa real, y cítaras y salterios para los cantores. No se había visto antes en el país de Judá madera semejante.
The king used the algum wood to make steps for the Temple and for the royal palace, and into lyres and harps for the musicians. Nothing like them had ever been seen before in the land of Judah.)
12 El rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo cuanto ella quiso y cuanto pidió, fuera (del equivalente) de lo que ella había traído al rey. Después se volvió y regresó a su tierra, acompañada de sus siervos.
King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all wanted, whatever she asked for. This was far more than she had brought the king. Then she and her attendants returned home to her own country.
13 El peso del oro que llegaba a Salomón año por año era de seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro,
The weight of gold that Solomon received each year was 666 talents,
14 además de lo que traían los mercaderes y traficantes. Todos los reyes de Arabia, y los gobernadores del país, traían oro y plata a Salomón.
not including that received from traders and merchants. All the kings of Arabia and governors of the land also brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 Hizo el rey Salomón doscientos grandes escudos de oro batido, empleando para cada escudo seiscientos siclos de oro batido,
King Solomon made two hundred shields of hammered gold. Each shield required six hundred shekels of hammered gold.
16 y (otros) trescientos escudos de oro batido, para cada uno de los cuales empleó trescientos siclos de oro; y los colocó el rey en la Casa del Bosque del Líbano.
He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold. Each of these shields required three hundred gold coins. The king placed them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Asimismo hizo el rey un gran trono de marfil, que revistió de oro puro.
The king also made a great throne of ivory, and covered it with pure gold.
18 El trono sobre una tarima de oro, tenía seis gradas, que estaban sujetas a él, y brazos a uno y otro lado del lugar del asiento, y dos leones, de pie, junto a los brazos.
The throne had six steps, with a golden footstool attached. There were armrests on both sides of the seat, with lions standing beside the armrests.
19 Además estaban allí de pie doce leones sobre las seis gradas a uno y otro lado. Nunca se hizo otro semejante en ningún reino.
Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one on opposite ends of each step. Nothing like this had ever been made for any kingdom.
20 Todos los vasos de beber del rey Salomón eran de oro, y toda la vajilla de la Casa del Bosque del Líbano era de oro fino. La plata no se estimaba en los días del rey Salomón.
All of King Solomon's drinking cups were gold, and all the utensils of the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. No silver was used, because it was not valued in the days of Solomon.
21 Porque el rey tenía naves que navegaban a Tarsis con los siervos de Huram y una vez cada tres años llegaban las naves de Tarsis, trayendo oro y plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.
The king had a fleet of ships from Tarshish crewed by Hiram's sailors. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish would arrive with a cargo of gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.
22 Así el rey Salomón sobrepujó a todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y sabiduría.
King Solomon was greater than any other king on earth in wealth and wisdom.
23 Todos los reyes de la tierra buscaban ver el rostro de Salomón, para oír la sabiduría que Dios había puesto en su corazón;
All the kings of the earth wanted to meet Solomon to hear the wisdom that God had placed in his mind.
24 y cada uno de ellos traía su presente, objetos de plata y objetos de oro, vestidos, armas, aromas, caballos y mulos, año tras año.
Year after year, every visitor would bring gifts—articles of silver and gold, clothes, weapons, spices, horses, and mules.
25 Tenía Salomón cuatro mil pesebres para los caballos y carros, y doce mil jinetes, a los cuales puso en cuarteles en las ciudades de los carros y en Jerusalén junto al rey.
Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. He kept them in the chariot towns, and also with him in Jerusalem.
26 Dominaba sobre todos los reyes desde el río hasta el país de los filisteos y hasta los confines de Egipto.
He ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border with Egypt.
27 Hizo el rey que en Jerusalén la plata fuese (tan común) como las piedras, y tuvo tanta abundancia de cedros como los sicómoros que crecen en la Sefelá.
The king made silver as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore-figs in the foothills.
28 Traían también caballos para Salomón de Egipto y de todos los países.
Solomon's horses were imported from Egypt and from many other lands.
29 Las demás cosas de Salomón, las primeras y las postreras, ¿no están escritas en la historia de Natán profeta, en las profecías de Ahías silonita, y en las visiones del vidente Iddó dirigidas contra Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat?
The rest of the acts of Solomon, from start to finish, are written in the Records of Nathan the Prophet, in the Prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the Visions of Iddo the Seer about Jeroboam, son of Nebat.
30 Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel cuarenta años.
Solomon ruled in Jerusalem over all of Israel for forty years.
31 Y Salomón se durmió con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de su padre David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Roboam.
Then Solomon died and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam took over as king.
