1 Samuel 2
1 Entonces Ana oró, y dijo: “Exalta mi corazón en Yahvé, en Yahvé que ha ensalzado mi brazo. Se ha abierto mi boca contra mis enemigos, pues me alegro de la salvación que de Ti he recibido.
And Hannah prayed, and said, Mine heart reioyceth in the Lord, mine horne is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged ouer mine enemies, because I reioyce in thy saluation.
2 No hay santo como Yahvé; porque no hay otro fuera de Ti; no hay roca como nuestro Dios.
There is none holy as the Lord: yea, there is none besides thee, and there is no god like our God.
3 No habléis tanto ni tan orgullosamente; no salgan palabras insolentes de vuestra boca; pues Yahvé es un Dios que todo lo sabe, un Dios que pesa las acciones.
Speake no more presumptuously: let not arrogancie come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him enterprises are established.
4 Se quebró el arco de los fuertes, y los débiles se han ceñido de fuerza.
The bow and the mightie men are broken, and the weake haue girded themselues with strength.
5 Los que antes estaban hartos se han alquilado por pan, mientras los que andaban hambrientos no tienen más hambre. La estéril ha dado a luz siete veces, y se marchitó la que muchos hijos tenía.
They that were full, are hired foorth for bread, and the hungrie are no more hired, so that the barren hath borne seuen: and shee that had many children, is feeble.
The Lord killeth and maketh aliue: bringeth downe to the graue and raiseth vp. (Sheol h7585)
7 Yahvé da la pobreza y la riqueza, abate y también ensalza.
The Lord maketh poore and maketh rich: bringeth lowe, and exalteth.
8 Levanta del polvo al pobre, y saca del muladar al menesteroso, para sentarle entre los príncipes, y en herencia un trono glorioso. Pues Yahvé dio columnas a la tierra, asentó sobre ellas el orbe.
He raiseth vp ye poore out of the dust, and lifteth vp the begger from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherite the seate of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lordes, and he hath set the world vpon them.
9 Él guarda los pasos de sus santos; mas los impíos morirán en tinieblas, que no por fuerza prevalece el hombre.
Hee will keepe the feete of his Saintes, and the wicked shall keepe silence in darkenes: for in his owne might shall no man be strong.
10 Sean aplastados los enemigos de Yahvé; desde los cielos tronará contra ellos. Yahvé juzgará los extremos de la tierra; a su Rey le dará el poder, y exaltará la frente de su Ungido.
The Lordes aduersaries shall be destroyed, and out of heauen shall he thunder vpon them: the Lord shall iudge the endes of the worlde, and shall giue power vnto his King, and exalt the horne of his Anoynted.
11 Después regresó Elcaná a Rama, a su casa; y el niño servía a Yahvé bajo la vigilancia del sacerdote Helí.
And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house, and the childe did minister vnto the Lord before Eli the Priest.
12 Los hijos de Helí eran hijos de Belial; no conocían a Yahvé,
Now the sonnes of Eli were wicked men, and knewe not the Lord.
13 ni los deberes de los sacerdotes para con el pueblo. Pues cuando alguno ofrecía sacrificios, mientras aún se cocía la carne venía ya el criado del sacerdote, teniendo en la mano un tridente,
For the Priestes custome towarde the people was this: when any man offered sacrifice, the Priestes boy came, while the flesh was seething, and a fleshhooke with three teeth, in his hand,
14 y lo metía en la caldera o en la cazuela; o en la olla, o en el puchero, y todo cuanto sacaba el tridente, lo tomaba el sacerdote para sí. Así hacían ellos con todos los israelitas que venían allí a Silo.
And thrust it into the kettle, or into the caldron, or into the panne, or into the potte: all that the fleshhooke brought vp, the Priest tooke for himselfe: thus they did vnto all the Israelites, that came thither to Shiloh.
15 Aun antes de quemarse el sebo, venía el criado del sacerdote, y decía al que lo inmolaba: “Dame carne para asársela al sacerdote; pues no tomará de ti carne cocida, sino cruda.”
Yea, before they burnt the fat, the priests boy came and saide to the man that offered, Giue me flesh to rost for the priest: for he wil not haue sodden flesh of thee, but rawe.
16 Y si el hombre le respondía: “Hay que quemar primero el sebo, y luego toma para ti cuanto desee tu alma”, le decía: “No, ahora mismo me la darás; de lo contrario la tomaré por fuerza.”
And if any man saide vnto him, Let them burne the fatte according to the custome, then take as much as thine heart desireth: then hee would answere, No, but thou shalt giue it nowe: and if thou wilt not, I will take it by force.
17 Era, pues, muy grande el pecado de aquellos jóvenes delante de Yahvé; porque esos hombres trataban con desprecio las ofrendas de Yahvé.
Therefore the sinne of the yong men was very great before the Lord: for men abhorred the offering of the Lord.
18 EL niño Samuel servía ante Yahvé, ceñido de un efod de lino.
Now Samuel being a yong childe ministred before the Lord, girded with a linen Ephod.
19 Hacíale su madre todos los años un manto pequeño, y se lo traía cuando subía con su marido a ofrecer el sacrificio anual.
And his mother made him a litle coat, and brought it to him from yeere to yeere, when she came vp with her husband, to offer the yerely sacrifice.
20 Y Helí bendijo a Elcaná y a su mujer, diciendo: “Yahvé te conceda hijos de esta mujer en lugar del (hijo) que ha cedido a Yahvé. Y se volvieron a su lugar.
And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord giue thee seede of this woman, for the petition that she asked of the Lord: and they departed vnto their place.
21 En efecto Yahvé visitó a Ana, y ella concibió y dio a luz tres hijos y dos hijas. Entre tanto el niño Samuel crecía en la presencia de Yahvé.
And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceiued, and bare three sonnes, and two daughters. And the childe Samuel grewe before the Lord.
22 Cuando Helí, que era ya muy viejo, supo cuanto hacían sus hijos a todo Israel, y que se acostaban con las mujeres que servían a la entrada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión,
So Eli was very olde, and heard all that his sonnes did vnto all Israel, and howe they laye with the women that assembled at the doore of the tabernacle of the Congregation.
23 les dijo: “¿Por qué hacéis tales cosas? Todo este pueblo me habla de vuestras fechorías.
And hee saide vnto them, Why doe ye such things? for of all this people I heare euill reportes of you.
24 No, hijos míos; porque son malos los rumores que tengo que oír. Vosotros hacéis prevaricar al pueblo de Yahvé.
Do no more, my sonnes, for it is no good report that I heare, which is, that ye make the Lords people to trespasse.
25 Si un hombre peca contra otro, Dios interviene como árbitro; pero si uno peca contra Yahvé, ¿quién intercederá por él?” Mas ellos no quisieron escuchar la voz de su padre, porque Yahvé había dispuesto quitarles la vida.
If one man sinne against another, the Iudge shall iudge it: but if a man sinne against the Lord, who will pleade for him? Notwithstanding they obeyed not the voyce of their father, because the Lord would slay them.
26 Mientras tanto el niño Samuel iba creciendo, y era grato a Dios y a los hombres.
(Nowe the childe Samuel profited and grewe, and was in fauour both with the Lord and also with men)
27 Vino a Helí un hombre de Dios, y le dijo: “Así dice Yahvé: ¿No me he bien manifestado a la casa de tu padre, cuando estaban en Egipto, en la casa del Faraón?
And there came a man of God vnto Eli, and said vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Did not I plainely appeare vnto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaohs house?
28 ¿No le escogí de entre todas las tribus de Israel, para sacerdote mío, para que subiese a mi altar, para que quemase el incienso y llevase el efod en mi presencia? ¿Y no di a la casa de tu padre (parte de) todas las ofrendas de los hijos de Israel ofrecidas mediante el fuego?
And I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my Priest, to offer vpon mine altar, and to burne incense, and to weare an Ephod before me, and I gaue vnto the house of thy father all the offrings made by fire of the children of Israel.
29 ¿Por qué, pues, habéis pisoteado mis sacrificios y mis oblaciones que Yo he mandado ofrecer en mi morada? ¿Y por qué respetas tú, más que a Mí, a tus hijos, para engordaros con lo mejor de todas las ofrendas de Israel mi pueblo?
Wherefore haue you kicked against my sacrifice and mine offering, which I commanded in my Tabernacle, and honourest thy children aboue mee, to make your selues fatte of the first fruites of all the offerings of Israel my people?
30 Por eso dice Yahvé, el Dios de Israel: Yo había prometido solemnemente que tu casa y la casa de tu padre andarían delante de Mí para siempre. Mas ahora, dice Yahvé, ¡lejos de Mí sea eso! Porque Yo honraré a los que me honren, y los que me desprecien serán despreciados;
Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I saide, that thine house and the house of thy father should walke before mee for euer: but nowe the Lord saith, It shall not be so: for them that honour me, I will honour, and they that despise me, shall be despised.
31 He aquí que vendrán días en que Yo cortaré tu brazo y el brazo de la casa de tu padre, de modo que no haya anciano en tu casa.
Beholde, the dayes come, that I will cut off thine arme, and the arme of thy fathers house, that there shall not be an olde man in thine house.
32 Tú verás a (tu) rival en (mi) morada en todo aquel tiempo en que Él colmará de bienes a Israel. Y no habrá nunca anciano en tu casa.
And thou shalt see thine enemie in the habitation of the Lord in all thinges wherewith God shall blesse Israel, and there shall not be an olde man in thine house for euer.
33 Con todo no haré desaparecer a todos los tuyos de junto a mi altar, para que de este modo se consuman tus ojos y desfallezca tu alma; pero todos los descendientes de tu casa morirán apenas hayan llegado a la edad viril.
Neuerthelesse, I will not destroy euery one of thine from mine altar, to make thine eyes to faile, and to make thine heart sorowfull: and all ye multitude of thine house shall die when they be men.
34 Y te servirá de señal lo que va a suceder a tus dos hijos, Ofní y Fineés: En un mismo día morirán ambos.
And this shalbe a signe vnto thee, that shall come vpon thy two sonnes Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they shall die both.
35 Suscitaré para Mí un sacerdote fiel, que obrará según mi corazón y según mi alma; y voy a edificarle casa estable, y él andará delante de mí Ungido para siempre.
And I will stirre me vp a faithfull Priest, that shall do according to mine heart and according to my minde: and I wil build him a sure house, and he shall walke before mine Anointed for euer.
36 Y todo aquel que quede de tu casa vendrá, y se postrará delante de él, para (pedir) una monedita de plata y una torta de pan, diciendo: ‘Admíteme por favor a algún ministerio sacerdotal, para que tenga un bocado de pan’.”
And all that are left in thine house, shall come and bowe downe to him for a piece of siluer and a morsell of bread, and shall say, Appoint me, I pray thee, to one of the priestes offices, that I may eate a morsell of bread.
