1 Corintios 1

1 Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, el hermano,

Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

2 a la Iglesia de Dios en Corinto, a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, santos por vocación, juntamente con todos los que, en cualquier lugar, invocan el nombre de Jesucristo Señor nuestro, de ellos y de nosotros:

to the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours:

3 gracia a vosotros y paz, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 Doy gracias sin cesar a mi Dios por vosotros, a causa de la gracia de Dios que os ha sido dada en Cristo Jesús;

I always thank my God concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

5 por cuanto en todo habéis sido enriquecidos en Él, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento,

that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

6 en la medida en que el testimonio de Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros.

even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

7 Por tanto no quedáis inferiores en ningún carisma, en tanto que aguardáis la revelación de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;

8 el cual os hará firmes hasta el fin e irreprensibles en el día de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

who will also strengthen you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 Fiel es Dios, por quien habéis sido llamados a la comunión de su Hijo Jesucristo Nuestro Señor.

God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

10 Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el nombre de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya escisiones entre vosotros, sino que viváis perfectamente unidos en un mismo pensar y en un mismo sentir.

Now I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in agreement, so that there may be no divisions among you, and to be united by the same mind and conviction.

11 Porque me he enterado respecto de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los de Cloe, que entre vosotros hay banderías.

For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.

12 Hablo así porque cada uno de vosotros dice: “Yo soy de Pablo”, “yo de Apolo”, “yo de Cefas”, “yo de Cristo”.

Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Cephas," and, "I follow Christ."

13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿Fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros, o fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?

14 Gracias doy a Dios de que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado fuera de Crispo y Cayo;

I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,

15 para que nadie diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre.

so that no one should say that you had been baptized into my own name.

16 Bauticé también, verdad es, a la familia de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no me acuerdo de haber bautizado a otro alguno.

(Now I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized any other.)

17 Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio, y eso no mediante sabiduría de palabras, para que no se inutilice la Cruz de Cristo.

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News—not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of the Christ would not be made void.

18 La doctrina de la Cruz es, en efecto, locura para los que perecen; pero para nosotros los que somos salvados, es fuerza de Dios.

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

19 Porque escrito está: “Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y anularé la prudencia de los prudentes”.

For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will nullify."

20 ¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el escriba? ¿Dónde el disputador de este siglo? ¿No ha trocado Dios en necedad la sabiduría del mundo? (aiōn g165)

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of the world? (aiōn g165)

21 Pues en vista de que según la sabiduría de Dios el mundo por su sabiduría no conoció a Dios, plugo a Dios salvar a los que creyesen mediante la necedad de la predicación.

For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

22 Así, pues, los judíos piden señales y los griegos buscan sabiduría;

For Jews ask for signs, and Greeks seek after wisdom,

23 en tanto que nosotros predicamos un Cristo crucificado: para los judíos, escándalo; para los gentiles, insensatez;

but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to the non-Jews,

24 mas para los que son llamados, sean judíos o griegos, un Cristo que es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios.

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25 Porque la “insensatez” de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man's, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's.

26 Mirad, por ejemplo, hermanos, la vocación vuestra: no hay ( entre vosotros ) muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles,

For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many mighty, not many of noble birth.

27 sino que Dios ha escogido lo insensato del mundo para confundir a los sabios; y lo débil del mundo ha elegido Dios para confundir a los fuertes;

But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong.

28 y lo vil del mundo y lo despreciado ha escogido Dios, y aun lo que no es, para destruir lo que es;

And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something,

29 a fin de que delante de Dios no se gloríe ninguna carne.

that no flesh might boast before God.

30 Por Él sois ( lo que sois ) en Cristo Jesús. Él fue hecho por Dios sabiduría, justicia, santificación y redención para nosotros,

And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

31 a fin de que, según está escrito, “el que se gloria, gloríese en el Señor”.

so that, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
