1 Hijos de Leví: Gersón, Caat y Merarí.

Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

2 Hijos de Caat: Amram, Ishar, Hebrón y Uciel.

Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

3 Hijos de Amram: Aarón, Moisés y María. Hijos de Aarón: Nadab, Abiú. Eleazar e Itamar;

Amram’s children were Miriam and [her younger brothers] Aaron and Moses. Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

4 Eleazar engendró a Fineés; Fineés engendró a Abisúa;

Eleazar was the father of Phinehas. Phinehas was the father of Abishua.

5 Abisúa engendró a Bukí; Bukí engendró a Ocí;

Abishua was the father of Bukki. Bukki was the father of Uzzi.

6 Ocí engendró a Zaraías; Zaraías engendró a Meraiot;

Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth.

7 Meraiot engendró a Amarías; Amarías engendró a Ahitob;

Meraioth was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.

8 Ahitob engendró a Sadoc; Sadoc engendró a Ahimaas;

Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz.

9 Ahimaas engendró a Azarías; Azarías engendró a Johanán;

Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan.

10 Johanán engendró a Azarías, el cual ejerció el sacerdocio en la Casa que Salomón edificó en Jerusalén.

Johanan was the father of Azariah. Azariah was a priest in the temple that Solomon commanded to be built in Jerusalem.

11 Azarías engendró a Amarías; Amarías engendró a Ahitob;

Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.

12 Ahitob engendró a Sadoc; Sadoc engendró a Sallum;

Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum.

13 Sallum engendró a Helcías; Helcías engendró a Azarías;

Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah.

14 Azarías engendró a Saraías; Saraías engendró a Josadac;

Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.

15 Josadac fue llevado cuando Yahvé deportó a Judá y a Jerusalén, por mano de Nabucodonosor.

Jehozadak was forced to leave his home when Yahweh sent [King] Nebuchadnezzar’s [army] [MTY] to capture many people in Jerusalem and other places in Judah and compel them [to go to Babylonia].

Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

17 He aquí los nombres de los hijos de Gersón: Libní y Simeí.

Gershon’s sons were Libni and Shimei.

18 Hijos de Caat: Amram, Ishar, Hebrón, y Uciel.

Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

19 Hijos de Merarí: Mahlí y Musí. Estas son las familias de los levitas, según sus casas paternas.

Merari’s sons were Mahli and Mushi. Here is a list of the descendants of Levi, who became leaders of their clans.

Gershon’s [oldest] son was Libni. Libni’s son was Jehath. Jehath’s son was Zimmah.

Kohath’s [other] son was Amminadab. Amminadab’s son was Korah. Korah’s son was Assir.

Assir’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph’s son was Assir.

24 Táhat, su hijo; Uriel, Su hijo; Ocías, su hijo, y Saúl, su hijo.

Assir’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Uriel. Uriel’s son was Uzziah. Uzziah’s son was Shaul.

Elkanah’s [other] sons were Amasai and Ahimoth.

Samuel’s oldest son was Joel; his other son was Abijah.

Merari’s oldest son was Mahli. Mahli’s son was Libni. Libni’s son was Shimei. Shimei’s son was Uzzah.

30 Simeá, su hijo; Hagía, su hijo; Asaía, su hijo.

Uzzah’s son was Shimea. Shimea’s son was Haggiah. Haggiah’s son was Asaiah.

After the Sacred Chest was brought [to Jerusalem, King] David appointed some of the men who were descendants of Levi to be in charge of the music in [the Sacred Tent where the people worshiped] Yahweh.

32 Ellos ejercían el ministerio de cantores delante de la Morada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, hasta que Salomón edificó la Casa de Yahvé en Jerusalén. Cumplían su servicio según su reglamento.

Those musicians first sang and played their instruments in the Sacred Tent, which was also called the Tent of Meeting, and they continued to do that until Solomon’s [workers] built the temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem. In all their work, they obeyed the instructions [that David had given them].

Here is a list of the musicians and their sons: From Kohath’s descendants there was Heman, the leader of the singers. Heman was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Samuel.

34 hijo de Elcaná, hijo de Jeroham, hijo de Eliel, hijo de Tóah,

Samuel was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Jeroham. Jeroham was the son of Eliel. Eliel was the son of Toah.

35 hijo de Suf, hijo de Elcaná, hijo de Máhat, hijo de Amasai,

Toah was the son of Zuph. Zuph was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Mahath. Mahath was the son of Amasai.

36 hijo de Elcaná, hijo de Joel, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Sofonías,

Amasai was the son of [another man whose name was] Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Azariah. Azariah was the son of Zephaniah.

37 hijo de Táhat, hijo de Asir, hijo de Ebiasaf, hijo de Coré,

Zephaniah was the son of Tahath. Tahath was the son of Assir. Assir was the son of Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph was the son of Korah.

38 hijo dé Ishar, hijo de Caat, hijo de Leví, hijo de Israel.

Korah was the son of Izhar. Izhar was the son of Kohath. Kohath was the son of Levi. Levi was the son of Jacob.

Heman’s helper was Asaph. His group [of singers] stood at the right side of Heman. Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Berekiah was the son of Shimea.

Shimea was the son of Michael. Michael was the son of Baaseiah. Baaseiah was the son of Malkijah.

41 hijo de Etní, hijo de Zara, hijo de Adaías,

Malkijah was the son of Ethni. Ethni was the son of Zerah. Zerah was the son of Adaiah.

42 hijo de Etán, hijo de Sima, hijo de Simeí,

Adaiah was the son of Ethan. Ethan was the son of Zimmah. Zimmah was the son of Shimei.

43 hijo de Jáhat, hijo de Gersón, hijo de Leví.

Shimei was the son of Jahath. Jahath was the son of Gershon, and Gershon was the son of Levi.

44 Los hijos de Merarí, hermanos de ellos, estaban a la izquierda: Etán, hijo de Quisí, hijo de Abdí, hijo de Malluc,

[A group of singers from] Merari’s family helped Heman and Asaph. They stood to the left of Heman. The leader of this group was Ethan, the son of Kishi. Kishi was the son of Abdi. Abdi was the son of Malluch.

45 hijo de Asabías, hijo de Amasías, hijo de Helcías,

Malluch was the son of Hashabiah. Hashabiah was the son of Amaziah. Amaziah was the son of Hilkiah.

46 hijo de Amsí, hijo de Baní, hijo de Sémer,

Hilkiah was the son of Amzi. Amzi was the son of Bani. Bani was the son of Shemer.

47 hijo de Mahlí, hijo de Musí, hijo de Merarí, hijo de Leví.

Shemer was the son of Mahli. Mahli was the son of Mushi. Mushi was the son of Merari, and Merari was the son of Levi.

48 Sus hermanos, los (demás) levitas, estaban encargados de todo el servicio de la Morada de la Casa de Dios.

The other descendants of Levi were appointed to do other work in the sacred tent, the place [where the people worshiped] Yahweh.

49 Aarón y sus hijos ejercían sus funciones en el altar del holocausto y en el altar del incienso; cumplían todo el servicio del Santísimo y hacían la expiación por todo Israel, conforme a cuanto había mandado Moisés, siervo de Dios.

Aaron and his descendants were the ones who placed on the altar the sacrifices that were to be burned completely, and they burned incense on another altar. Those sacrifices were in order that Yahweh would no longer be angry with the people of Israel for having sinned. Those men also did other work in the Very Holy Place in the sacred tent, obeying the instructions that Moses, who served God [well], had given to them.

50 Estos son los hijos de Aarón: Eleazar, su hijo; Fineés, su hijo; Abisúa, su hijo;

These were the descendants of Aaron: Aaron’s son was Eleazar. Eleazar’s son was Phinehas. Phinehas’s son was Abishua.

51 Bukí, su hijo; Ocí, su hijo; Zaraías, su hijo;

Abishua’s son was Bukki. Bukki’s son was Uzzi. Uzzi’s son was Zerahiah.

52 Meraiot, su hijo; Amaría, su hijo; Ahitob, su hijo;

Zerahiah’s son was Meraioth. Meraioth’s son was Amariah. Amariah’s son was Ahitub.

53 Sadoc, su hijo; Ahimaas, su hijo.

Ahitub’s son was Zadok, and Zadok’s son was Ahimaaz.

54 He aquí sus residencias según los territorios que les fueron asignados: A los hijos de Aarón, de la familia de los Caatitas, que fueron los (primeros) señalados por la suerte,

Here is a list of the places where Aaron’s descendants lived. Those who were descendants of Kohath were the first group to be allotted cities to live in.

They were allotted Hebron [city] in Judah and the pastureland around the city,

56 pero el campo de la ciudad, y sus aldeas, fueron dados a Caleb, hijo de Jefone.

but the fields farther from the city and the villages near the city were given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.

The descendants of Aaron [who were descendants of Kohath] were allotted Hebron, one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone]. They also were allotted the towns and pastureland near Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,

58 Helón con sus ejidos, Dabir con sus ejidos,

Hilen, Debir,

59 Asan con sus ejidos, y Betsemes con sus ejidos.

Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh.

60 De la tribu de Benjamín: Gabaá con sus ejidos, Almat con sus ejidos, Anatot con sus ejidos. Todas sus ciudades fueron trece, según sus familias.

They were also allotted Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth [cities] from the tribe of Benjamin. Altogether, these clans descended from Kohath were allotted 13 towns.

61 Los hijos de Caat, que pertenecían a esa familia de la tribu, recibieron por suerte diez ciudades de la mitad de Manasés,

The other clans descended from Kohath were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived west of the Jordan River].

62 Los hijos de Gersón, según sus familias, recibieron trece ciudades de la tribu de Isacar, de la tribu de Aser, de la tribu de Neftalí y de la tribu de Manasés que estaba en Basan.

The descendants of Gershon were allotted 13 cities and towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived in [the] Bashan [region on the east side of the Jordan River].

63 A los hijos de Merarí, según sus familias, les tocaron en suerte doce ciudades de la tribu de Rubén, de la tribu de Gad y de la tribu de Zabulón.

The descendants of Merari were allotted twelve cities and towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

64 Los hijos de Israel dieron a los levitas estas ciudades con sus ejidos.

The leaders of Israel allotted those towns and the nearby pasturelands to the descendants of Levi.

65 Les dieron por suerte también de la tribu de los hijos de Judá, de la tribu de los hijos de Simeón y de la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín, las ciudades designadas nominalmente.

They also allotted to them the cities and towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin that were listed previously.

Some of the descendants of Kohath were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim.

They were allotted Shechem, which was one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone], along with the nearby pastureland in the hills of Ephraim. They were also allotted these towns and pastureland near them: Gezer,

68 Jocmeam con sus ejidos, Bethorón con sus ejidos,

Jokmeam, Beth-Horon,

69 Ayalón con sus ejidos y Gatrimón con sus ejidos;

Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.

70 de parte de la media tribu de Manasés: Aner con sus ejidos, Bileam con sus ejidos, para las familias de los demás hijos de Caat.

The other descendants of Kohath were allotted Aner and Bileam towns and the nearby pastureland from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived west [of the Jordan River].

The descendants of Gershon, who were part of the tribe of Manasseh, lived east [of the Jordan River]. They were allotted the cities and towns and pastureland near them: Golan in [the] Bashan and Ashtaroth [regions].

From the tribe of Issachar they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh, Daberath,

73 Ramot con sus ejidos y Anem con sus ejidos;

Ramoth, and Anem.

From the tribe of Asher they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Mashal, Abdon,

75 Hucoc con sus ejidos y Rehob con sus ejidos;

Hukok, and Rehob.

76 de la tribu de Neftalí: Cades en Galilea con sus ejidos, Hamón con sus ejidos, y Kiryataim con sus ejidos.

And from the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh in [the] Galilee [region], and Hammon and Kiriathaim [towns].

77 Al resto, (es decir), a los hijos de Merarí (se les dio): de la tribu de Zabulón: Rimonó con sus ejidos y Tabor con sus ejidos;

The other descendants of Levi, those descended from Merari, were allotted towns and pasturelands from the tribe of Zebulun near Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmono, and Tabor.

From the tribe of Reuben they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Bezer in the desert, Jahzah, Kedemoth, and Mephaath. The tribe of Reuben lived east of the Jordan [River], across from Jericho.

From the tribe of Gad, they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Ramoth in [the] Gilead [region], [the cities of] Mahanaim,

81 Mesbón con sus ejidos, y Jaer con sus ejidos.

Heshbon, and Jazer.
