1 Crónicas 24
1 He aquí las clases de los hijos de Aarón: Hijos de Aarón: Nadab, Abiú, Eleazar e Itamar.
These are the groups of the descendants of Aaron [the first Supreme Priest]: Aaron’s four sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Nadab y Abiú murieron antes que su padre, sin tener hijos; y ejercieron las funciones sacerdotales Eleazar e Itamar.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father died, and they had no children. So their [younger] brothers Eleazar and Ithamar became the priests.
3 David, con Sadoc, de los hijos de Eleazar, y Ahimelec, de los hijos de Itamar, los clasificó según sus oficios que tenían en su ministerio.
Zadok, who was a descendant of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, who was a descendant of Ithamar, helped David to separate his descendants into two groups. Each group had certain duties.
4 Se hallaron entre los hijos de Eleazar más cabezas que entre los hijos de Itamar; por lo que se hizo entre ellos esta división: para los hijos de Eleazar, diez y seis cabezas de casas paternas; y para los hijos de Itamar, ocho casas paternas.
There were more leaders among the descendants of Eleazar than there were among the descendants of Ithamar. So they appointed 16 leaders from Eleazar’s descendants and eight leaders from Ithamar’s descendants.
5 Los repartieron por suertes, a los unos como a los otros; porque había príncipes del Santuario y príncipes de Dios, tanto entre los hijos de Eleazar como entre los hijos de Itamar.
There were temple officials and priests, including descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar, to make sure that the work was divided fairly. So they decided what work each person would do by (casting lots/throwing marked stones).
6 Semeías, hijo de Natanael, escriba, uno de los levitas, los inscribió en presencia del rey y de los príncipes, y en presencia del sacerdote Sadoc, y de Ahimelec, hijo de Abiatar, y de las cabezas de las casas paternas de los sacerdotes y de los levitas. Se sacaba alternando una casa paterna para Eleazar, y otra para Itamar.
Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel, who was a descendant of Levi, wrote down the names [of the leaders of each group] while David and his officials were watching. Zadok, the [Supreme] Priest, and Ahimelech [his assistant], and the leaders of the families of the priests and of the families of the other descendants of Levi also watched.
7 Tocó la primera suerte a Joiarib; la segunda a Jedayá;
Jehoiarib was the first one whose name was selected [by casting lots/throwing marked stones]. Next Jedaiah was selected.
8 la tercera a Harim; la cuarta a Seorim;
Next, Harim was selected. Next, Seorim was selected.
9 la quinta a Malquías; la sexta a Mijamín;
Next, Malkijah was selected. Next, Mijamin was selected.
10 la séptima a Hacoz; la octava a Abía;
Next, Hakkoz was selected. Next, Abijah was selected.
11 la nona a Jesúa; la décima a Secanías;
Next, Jeshua was selected. Next, Shecaniah was selected.
12 la undécima a Eliasib; la duodécima a Jaquim,
Next, Eliashib was selected. Next, Jakim was selected.
13 la decimotercera a Hupá; la decimocuarta a Jesbeab;
Next, Huppah was selected. Next, Jeshebeab was selected.
14 la decimoquinta a Bilgá; la decimosexta a Imer;
Next, Bilgah was selected. Next, Immer was selected.
15 la decimoséptima a Hesir, la decimoctava a Hapisés;
Next, Hezir was selected. Next, Happizzez was selected.
16 la decimonona a Petayá; la vigésima a Ezequiel;
Next, Pethahiah was selected. Next, Jehezkel was selected.
17 la vigésimo prima a Jaquín; la vigesimosegunda a Gamul;
Next, Jakin was selected. Next, Gamul was selected.
18 la vigesimotercera a Delayá; la vigesimocuarta a Maacías.
Next, Delaiah was selected. Next, Maaziah was selected.
19 Esta fue la distribución según su ministerio, para que entrasen en la Casa de Yahvé conforme al reglamento que Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, había prescrito por medio de Aarón, padre de ellos.
Those were the men who were chosen to be the leaders of the groups that would serve in the temple, obeying the regulations that were set down by Aaron, regulations which Yahweh, the God to whom the Israeli people belonged, had given to him.
20 He aquí (los jefes) de los hijos restantes de Leví: De los hijos de Amran: Subael; de los hijos de Subael: Jehedías.
[This is a list of some of] the other descendants of Levi: Amram was the ancestor of Shubael and Jehdeiah.
21 De Rehabías, de los hijos de Rehabías era jefe Isías;
Rehabiah was the ancestor of Isshiah, the oldest son in his family.
22 de los Isharitas: Selomot; de los hijos de Selomot: Jáhat.
Izhar was the father of Shelomoth and the grandfather of Jahath.
23 Hijos (de Hebrón): Jerías, Amarías, el segundo; Jahasiel, el tercero; Jecamaam, el cuarto.
[Kohath’s son] Hebron had four sons: Jeriah and his [younger] brothers Amariah, Jahaziel, and Jekameam.
24 Hijos de Uciel: Micá; de los hijos de Micá: Samir.
Uzziel was the father of Micah and the grandfather of Shamir.
25 Hermano de Mica: Isías; de los hijos de Isías: Zacarías.
Micah’s [younger] brother was the father of Zechariah.
26 Hijos de Merarí: Mahlí y Musí; hijos de Jaacías: su hijo.
The sons of Merari were Mahli, Mushi, and Jaaziah.
27 Hijos de Merarí por Jaacías, su hijo: Soham, Zacur e Ibrí.
Jaaziah had four sons: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 De Mahlí: Eleazar, que no tuvo hijos.
Mahli’s son Eleazar did not have any sons.
29 De Cis: los hijos de Cis: Jerameel.
From the descendants of [Mahli’s second son] there was Jerahmeel.
30 Hijos de Musí: Mahlí, Eder y Jerimot. Estos son los hijos de los levitas, según sus casas paternas.
The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. Those were descendants of Levi who were listed according to the leaders of their families.
31 También estos echaron suertes de la misma manera que sus hermanos, los hijos de Aarón, en presencia del rey David, Sadoc y Ahimelec, y en presencia de las cabezas de las casas paternas de los sacerdotes y de los levitas; siendo tratados de la misma manera los jefes de familia como sus hermanos menores.
The jobs they would do were decided by (casting lots/throwing marked stones), like their fellow Israelis, the descendants of Aaron, did. They cast lots {The lots were cast} while King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the leaders of the families of the priests and the [other] descendants of Levi watched. They gave the same jobs to the families of each oldest brother and each youngest brother.
