< Maahmaahyadii 27 >
1 Berrito ha ku faanin, Waayo, ma ogid waxay maalinu keeni doonto.
Do not boast thyself of to-morrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
2 Mid kale ha ku faaniyo oo yaanu afkaagu ku faanin, Shisheeye ha ku ammaano, oo yaanay bushimahaagu ku ammaanin.
Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth, a stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 Dhagax waa culus yahay, oo cammuuduna way miisaan weyn tahay, Laakiinse waxaa labadoodaba ka sii culus nacas cadhadiis.
Heavy is a stone, and weighty is sand, —but, the vexation of a fool, is heavier than both.
4 Cadho waa naxariisdarro, xanaaqna waa daad, Laakiinse bal yaa hinaaso is-hor taagi kara?
The cruelty of rage, and the overflow of anger! But who can stand before, jealousy?
5 Canaantii bayaan ahu Waa ka wanaagsan tahay jacaylkii qarsoon.
Better is a rebuke that is open, than love carefully concealed.
6 Saaxiib nabrihiisu waa daacadnimo, Laakiinse cadow dhunkashooyinkiisu waa khiyaano miidhan.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but lavished are the kisses of an enemy.
7 Naftii dheregsanu xataa awlallada malabka waa ka yaqyaqsataa, Laakiinse naftii gaajaysan wax kasta oo qadhaadhuba way u macaan yihiin.
The surfeited soul, trampleth upon droppings from the comb, but, to the hungry soul, every bitter thing, is sweet.
8 Ninkii hoygiisa ka warwareegaa Waa sida shimbir buulkeeda ka warwareegta oo kale.
As a bird wandering from her nest, so, is a man wandering from his place.
9 Saliidda iyo cadarku qalbigay ka farxiyaan, Sidaas oo kalena waxaa nin ka farxiya macaanka saaxiibkiis oo ka yimaada talada qalbiga.
Oil and perfume, rejoice the heart, the sweetness of one’s friend, more than fragrant wood.
10 Ha ka tegin saaxiibkaa iyo aabbahaa saaxiibkiis toona, Oo maalintii masiibadaadana guriga walaalkaa ha tegin, Deris kuu dhowu waa ka wanaagsan yahay walaal kaa fog.
Thine own friend and thy father’s friend, do not thou forsake; but, the house of thy brother, do not enter, in thy day of calamity, Better a neighbour near, than a brother far off.
11 Wiilkaygiiyow, caqli yeelo, oo qalbigayga ka farxi, Si aan ugu jawaabo kii i caayaba.
Be wise, my son, and rejoice my heart, that I may answer him that reproacheth me in a matter.
12 Ninkii miyir lahu sharkuu arkaa, wuuna dhuuntaa, Laakiinse garaadlaawayaashu way iska sii maraan, oo waana la taqsiiraa.
A prudent man, seeth calamity—he hideth himself, the simple, pass on—they suffer.
13 Kii qof qalaad dammiinta dharkiisa ka qaad, Oo kii naag qalaad dammiintana isaga rahmad ahaan u hay.
Take a man’s garment when he hath become pledge for a stranger, then, for a female unknown, accept him as surety.
14 Kii intuu aroor hore kaco saaxiibkiis cod dheer ugu duceeya, Waxaa loo qaadan doonaa habaar.
He that blesseth his friend, with a loud voice, in the morning early, a reproach, shall it be reckoned to him.
15 Maalin roobaabeed dhibicyadeeda aan kala go'in Iyo naag muran badanu waa isku mid.
A continuous dripping on a day of downpour, and a contentious wife, are alike:
16 Ku alla kii iyada celiyaa, dabayshuu celiyaa. Gacantiisa midigna saliid bay qabataa.
He that hideth her, hideth the wind, and, perfume, his right hand may proclaim.
17 Bir baa bir afaysa, Oo sidaas oo kale nin baa saaxiibkiis afeeya.
Let, iron, by iron, become sharp, and let, a man, sharpen the face of his friend.
18 Ku alla kii berde xannaanaystaa midhihiisuu cuni doonaa. Oo kii sayidkiisa dhawrana waa la murwayn doonaa.
He that guardeth the fig-tree, shall eat the fruit thereof, and, he that watcheth over his master, shall be honoured.
19 Sida fool biyaha dhexdooda fool uga muuqdo, Ayaa nin qalbigiisu nin kale ugu muuqdaa.
As in water, face [answereth] to face, so, the heart of man to man.
20 She'ool iyo halligaadu weligood ma dhergaan, Dadka indhihiisu weligood ma dhergaan. (Sheol )
Hades and destruction, are not satisfied, and, the eyes of a man, are not satisfied. (Sheol )
21 Weelka lacagta lagu safeeyo lacagtaa iska leh, oo foornadana dahabkaa iska leh, Sidaas oo kalena nin waxaa lagu tijaabiyaa ammaantiisa.
Fining pot for silver, and crucible for gold, and, a man, [is to be tried] by what he praiseth.
22 In kastoo aad nacas tib iyo mooye hadhuudh kula tuntid, Weliba nacasnimadiisu ka tegi mayso isaga.
Though thou pound a fool in a mortar, amidst grain, with a pestle, his folly, will not depart from him.
23 Aad ugu dadaal inaad ogaatid xaalka adhigaaga, Oo lo'daadana si wanaagsan u ilaali.
Note well, the appearance of thy flock, apply thy mind to thy herds;
24 Waayo, maalku weligiis siima raago, Taajkuna ab ka ab miyuu waaraa?
For, not age-abiding, are riches, nor is the diadem, from generation to generation: —
25 Cawska qallalan markii la gooyo mid cagaar ah oo jilicsan baa soo muuqda, Oo dhalatada buurahana waa la soo urursadaa.
The grass, is taken away, and the young shoot, showeth itself, and the herbage of the mountains, is gathered;
26 Baraarku waa kuu dhar, Oo adhiguna waa kuu qiimihii beerta.
There are, lambs, for thy clothing, and, for the price of thy field, there are he-goats;
27 Waxaa jiri doona caano riyaad oo cunto ugu filan adiga iyo reerkaagaba, Iyo weliba masruufka gabdhaha kuu shaqeeya.
With, enough goats-milk, for thy food—for the food of thy household, and, a maintenance, for thy maidens.
