< Maahmaahyadii 18 >

1 Kii gooni isu soocaa, wuxuu doondoonaa damaciisa, Oo xigmadda oo dhanna wuu ku kacaa.
He that separateth himself [from God] seeketh his own desires: at every sound wisdom is he enraged.
2 Nacasku waxgarashada kuma farxo, Laakiinse wuxuu ku farxaa uun inuu waxa qalbigiisa ku jira muujiyo.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but in laying open what is in his heart.
3 Markii kii shar lahu yimaado waxaa kaloo timaada quudhsasho, Sharafla'aantana waxaa la timaada ceeb.
When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with dishonorable acts, disgrace.
4 Nin afkiis erayada ku jiraa waa sida biyo gun dheer, Oo isha xigmadduna waa sida durdur socda.
Like deep waters are the words of a [wise] man's mouth, and a bubbling brook is the well-spring of wisdom.
5 Ma wanaagsana in kan sharka leh loo eexdo, Ama in kan xaqa ah garta lagu afgembiyo.
It is not good to favor the person of the wicked, to wrest [the cause of the] righteous in judgment.
6 Nacaska bushimihiisu waxay keenaan muran, Oo afkiisuna wuxuu u yeedhaa karbaash.
The lips of the fool come with contention, and his mouth calleth for blows.
7 Nacaska afkiisu waa u baabba', Oo bushimihiisuna naftiisay dabin u noqdaan.
The mouth of the fool is a destruction to himself, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 Kii xan badan erayadiisu waa sida cunto macaan, Oo waxay ku degaan meelaha caloosha ugu hooseeya.
The words of a whisperer are as wounds, and they go down indeed into the innermost parts of the body.
9 Kii shuqulkiisa caajis ku ahu, Wuxuu walaal u yahay kii wax kharriba.
He also that showeth himself slothful in his work is a brother to the destroyer.
10 Rabbiga magiciisu waa noobiyad xoog leh, Kii xaq ahu iyaduu ku cararaa, meel sarena wuu ku nabad galaa.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower, whereunto the righteous runneth, and is placed in safety.
11 Ninkii taajir ah maalkiisu waa u magaalo xoog leh, Oo waa u derbi dheer sida ay la tahay isaga.
The rich man's wealth is his strong town, and as a towering wall in his own conceit.
12 Dadka qalbigiisu waa kibraa intaanu baabbi'in ka hor, Oo sharaftana waxaa ka horraysa is-hoosaysiinta.
Before downfall the heart of man becometh haughty, and before honor goeth humility.
13 Kii xaajo ka jawaabaa isagoo aan maqlin, Waa u nacasnimo iyo ceeb.
When one returneth an answer before he understandeth [the question], it is folly unto him and shame.
14 Nin qalbigiisu waa u adkaysan karaa cudurkiisa, Laakiinse qalbi jaban bal yaa u dulqaadan kara?
The spirit of a man will readily bear his disease; but a depressed spirit who can bear:
15 Kii miyir leh qalbigiisu wuxuu helaa aqoon, Oo kuwa caqliga leh dhegtooduna waxay doondoontaa aqoon.
The heart of the man of understanding will obtain knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
16 Nin hadiyaddiisu meel bay u bannaysaa. Oo waxay isaga hor keentaa rag waaweyn.
A man's gift maketh room for him, and before great men will it lead him.
17 Kii dacwaddiisa u hor mara, mid xaq ah baa la moodaa, Laakiinse deriskiisaa ka daba yimaada oo imtixaama isaga.
He that is first in his cause seemeth just; but when his neighbor cometh, then will it be investigated.
18 Saamigu wuxuu joojiyaa murammo, Oo wuxuu kala kaxeeyaa kuwa xoogga badan.
The lot causeth disputes to cease, and it decideth between the mighty.
19 In walaal la xumeeyey la soo celiyo waa ka sii adag tahay in magaalo xoog leh la qabsado, Oo murammona waa ka xoog badan yihiin qalcad biraheeda.
A brother offended is harder [to be won] than a strong town; and quarrels [among brothers] are like the bars of a castle.
20 Nin calooshiisu waxay ka buuxsami doontaa midhaha afkiisa, Oo wuxuu isagu ka dhergi doonaa waxa bushimihiisa u kordha.
From the fruit of a man's mouth is his body satisfied; with the product of his lips doth he satisfy himself.
21 Geeri iyo nololuba waxay ku jiraan itaalka carrabka, Oo kuwa jeceluna waxay cuni doonaan midhihiisa.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it will eat its fruit.
22 Ku alla kii afo helaa wuxuu helaa wax wanaagsan, Oo Rabbigana raallinimuu ka helaa.
Whoso hath found a wife hath found happiness, and hath obtained favor from the Lord.
23 Miskiinku baryootan buu ku hadlaa, Laakiinse taajirku si qallafsan buu ugu jawaabaa.
The poor speaketh entreatingly; but the rich answereth roughly.
24 Ninkii saaxiibbo badsadaa naftiisuu kharribaa, Laakiin waxaa jira saaxiib walaalkaa kaaga dhow.
A man's many companions are hurtful to him; but there is many a friend that cleaveth closer than a brother.
