1 Wiilkii caqli lahu wuxuu maqlaa edbinta aabbihiis, Laakiinse kii wax quudhsadaa canaanta ma maqlo.
A wise son—the instruction of a father, And a scorner—he has not heard rebuke.
2 Nin wuxuu wax wanaagsan ku cuni doonaa midhaha afkiisa, Laakiinse khaayinnada naftoodu waxay cuni doontaa midhaha dulmiga.
A man eats good from the fruit of the mouth, And the soul of the treacherous—violence.
3 Kii afkiisa dhawraa wuxuu dhawraa naftiisa, Laakiinse kii bushimihiisa aad u kala qaadaa wuu baabbi'i doonaa.
Whoever is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoever is opening wide his lips—ruin to him!
4 Kii caajis ah naftiisu wax bay damacdaa, mana hesho, Laakiinse nafta kii dadaala waa la barwaaqaysiin doonaa.
The soul of the slothful is desiring, and does not have. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.
5 Ninkii xaq ahu beenta wuu neceb yahay, Laakiinse ninkii shar lahu waa karaahiyo, wuuna ceeboobaa.
The righteous hates a false word, And the wicked causes abhorrence, and is confounded.
6 Xaqnimadu kii jidkiisu qumman yahay ayay ilaalisaa, Laakiinse sharnimadu dembilaha ayay afgembidaa.
Righteousness keeps him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthrows a sin offering.
7 Waxaa jira nin hodan iska dhiga laakiinse aan waxba haysan, Oo waxaa jira mid miskiin iska dhiga laakiinse maal badan leh.
There is [he] who is making himself rich, and has nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant.
8 Nin wuxuu noloshiisa ku furtaa maalkiisa, Laakiinse miskiinku canaanta ma maqlo.
The ransom of a man’s life [are] his riches, And the poor has not heard rebuke.
9 Iftiinka kuwa xaqa ahu weligii wuu reyreeyaa, Laakiinse laambadda kuwa sharka leh waa la bakhtiin doonaa.
The light of the righteous rejoices, And the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.
10 Isqabasho oo keliya ayaa kibir ka timaada, Laakiinse kii waanada qaata waxaa la jirta xigmad.
A vain man causes debate through pride, And wisdom [is] with the counseled.
11 Maalkii degdeg lagu helaa wuu dhinmi doonaa, Laakiinse kan hawl wax ku soo urursadaa waa sii korodhsan doonaa.
Wealth from vanity becomes little, And whoever is gathering by the hand becomes great.
12 Rajadii raagtaa qalbigay bukaysiisaa, Laakiinse markii wixii la doonayay la helo waa geed nololeed.
Hope prolonged is making the heart sick, And a tree of life [is] the coming desire.
13 Ku alla kii erayga quudhsadaa halligaad ayuu isu keenaa, Laakiinse kii amarka ka cabsada waa loo abaalgudi doonaa.
Whoever is despising the word is destroyed for it, And whoever is fearing the command is repaid.
14 Ninkii caqli leh waxbariddiisu waa il nololeed, In dabinnada dhimashada laga leexdo.
The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
15 Waxgarashadii wanaagsan raalli baa laga noqdaa, Laakiinse jidka khaayinnadu waa xun yahay.
Good understanding gives grace, And the way of the treacherous [is] hard.
16 Nin kasta oo miyir lahu aqoon buu ku shaqeeyaa, Laakiinse nacasku nacasnimuu fidiyaa.
Every prudent one deals with knowledge, And a fool spreads out folly.
17 Wargeeyihii shar lahu xumaan buu ku dhex dhacaa, Laakiinse ergadii aamin ahu waa caafimaad.
A wicked messenger falls into evil, And a faithful ambassador is healing.
18 Caydhnimo iyo ceebba waxaa lahaan doona kii edbinta diida, Laakiinse kii canaanta maqla waa la murwayn doonaa.
Whoever is refusing instruction—poverty and shame, And whoever is observing reproof is honored.
19 Wixii la doonayay oo la gaadhay nafta way u macaan tahay, Laakiinse nacasyadu aad bay u karhaan inay sharka ka fogaadaan.
A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, And an abomination to fools [Is] to turn from evil.
20 Kii kuwa caqliga leh la socdaa, caqli buu yeelan doonaa, Laakiinse kii nacasyada raacaa waa baabbi'i doonaa.
Whoever is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffers evil.
21 Dembilayaasha waxaa eryada shar, Laakiinse kuwa xaqa ah abaal wanaagsan baa loo gudi doonaa.
Evil pursues sinners, And good repays the righteous.
22 Ninkii wanaagsanu dhaxal buu uga tagaa carruurta carruurtiisa, Oo maalka dembilahana waxaa loo kaydiyaa kuwa xaqa ah.
A good man causes sons’ sons to inherit, And the sinner’s wealth [is] laid up for the righteous.
23 Beerta masaakiinta waxaa ku taal cunto badan, Laakiinse gardarro aawadeed in baa loo baabbi'iyaa.
Abundance of food—the tillage of the poor, And substance is consumed without judgment.
24 Kii ushiisa ceshadaa wiilkiisuu neceb yahay; Laakiinse kii wiilkiisa jecelu aad buu u edbiyaa.
Whoever is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoever is loving him has hurried his discipline.
25 Kan xaqa ahu wax buu cunaa ilaa naftiisu dheregto, Laakiinse caloosha kuwa sharka lahu way baahnaan doontaa.
The righteous is eating to the satiety of his soul, And the belly of the wicked lacks!
