Yashuuca 20

1 Markaasaa Rabbigu Yashuuca la hadlay, oo ku yidhi,

And the Lord spoke unto Joshua, saying,

2 La hadal reer binu Israa'iil, oo waxaad ku tidhaahdaa, Sooca magaalooyinkii magangalka oo aan idiinku sheegay Muuse,

speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint for yourselves the cities of refuge, whereof I have spoken unto you by the hand of Moses;

3 in gacankudhiiglihii qof dilaa, isagoo aan u kasayn oo aan badheedh u samayn, uu halkaas u cararo; oo waxay idiin noqonayaan meeshaad ka magangeli lahaydeen kan dhiigga ka aarsada.

That thither may flee the manslayer that killeth any person unawares, without knowledge; and they shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger of the blood.

4 Oo magaalooyinkaas middood waa inuu u cararaa, oo waa inuu istaagaa iridda magaalada laga soo galo, oo xaalkiisa waa inuu u caddeeyaa odayaasha magaalada, oo iyana waa inay magaalada soo geliyaan, oo meel siiyaan inuu la degganaado.

And he shall flee unto one of those cities, and he shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city, and speak in the ears of the elders of that city his words; and they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.

5 Oo haddii kan dhiigga ka aarsadaa uu soo eryado, markaas waa inaanay gacankudhiiglihii gacantiisa gelin, maxaa yeelay, kaasu wuxuu deriskiisa ku dilay kama' oo horena ma uu nebcaan jirin.

And if the avenger of the blood should pursue after him, then shall they not deliver the manslayer up into his hand; because without knowledge did he smite his neighbor, and he was not an enemy to him in time past.

6 Oo magaaladaas waa inuu degganaadaa ilaa uu xukun isu hor taago shirka, iyo ilaa uu ka dhinto wadaadka sare oo jiri doona waayahaas, oo markaas ka dib gacankudhiigluhu waa inuu noqdaa, oo waa inuu magaaladiisii yimaadaa, iyo gurigiisii, ilaa magaaladii uu markii hore ka cararay.

And he shall dwell in that city, until he shall have stood before the congregation for judgment, [and] until the death of the high-priest that may be in those days: then shall the manslayer return, and come unto his own house, unto the city whence he hath fled.

7 Oo waxay sooceen Qedesh oo ku tiil Galili oo ah dalka buuraha leh oo reer Naftaali, iyo Shekem oo iyana ku tiil dalka buuraha leh oo reer Efrayim, iyo Qiryad Arbac (oo ah Xebroon) ee ku tiil dalka buuraha leh oo reer Yahuudah.

And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in the mountain of Naphtali, and Shechem in the mountain of Ephraim, and Kiryath-arba', which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.

8 Oo Webi Urdun shishadiisa meel Yerixoo u dhow oo bari ka xigta waxay ka sooceen Beser oo ku tiil cidladii ku tiil bannaankii qabiilka reer Ruubeen, iyo Raamod oo ku tiil Gilecaad oo ay qabiilkii reer Gaad lahaayeen, iyo Goolaan oo ku tiil Baashaan oo ay qabiilkii reer Manaseh lahaayeen.

And on the other side of the Jordan by Jericho eastward, they appointed Bezer in the wilderness in the plain from the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gil'ad from the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan from the tribe of Menasseh.

9 Intaasu waa magaalooyinkii loo doortay reer binu Israa'iil oo dhan, iyo qariibkii dhexdooda degganaa, in ku alla kii qof dilaa, isagoo aan u kasayn, uu halkaas ku carari karo inaanu ku dhiman gacanta kan dhiigga ka aarsada, ilaa uu hor istaago shirka.

These were the cities assigned for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that thither might flee whosoever killeth any person at unawares, and that he should not die by the hand of the avenger of the blood, until he have stood before the congregation.
